Rating: Summary: The best Gundam movie ever! Review: Char's counter attack is the best Gundam movie. It was originaly released in Japan nearly 15 years ago, but this movie is really the best of all Gundam movies ever made. If you love the first Gundam, you don't have to think twice! Just go and get this movie. The only thing is that you should see Z Gundam and ZZ Gundam series to get better understanding of what happened between Amuro and Char after the one year war. And I know Z and ZZ haven't been released in US. Even if you haven't seen these two series, I'm sure you'll enjoy this movie. I actually hadn't seen Z or ZZ, when I first saw this movie in Japan, but I liked this movie and was excited about seeing grown-up Amuro piloting the coolest Gundam and Char still piloting a red mobile-suites. And a few years later, I had a chance to watch Z and ZZ. Then things made more sence to me. This DVD also has a little booklet, which explains a little bit about what happened after 0083. It'll help but it doen't spoil Z and ZZ. When Z and ZZ are released in US, you'll go "Yes, this is what Char was talking about in Char's counter attack!" And you'll see this movie again with the knowledge of Z and ZZ and you'll enjoy it again just like I did! So, don't worry so much about Z and ZZ right now, this movie itself is worth for your Gundam collection anyway!! This movie won't disappoint Gundam fans! By the way, some characters from Z and ZZ also appear in 0083 series. Haman, who Char mentioned in this movie appears in 0083 volume 3, she has pink hair and speaks a few words in Axis. Jamitov, the founder of Titans from Z Gundam appears in 0083 volume 4. And also, Bask, one of the most important Titans' person from Z Gundam appears in 0083 volume 4. He is in charge of the Solar-system and wears wired glasses. He also gives order to fire the Solar-system at Uraki's Gundam and Neue Ziel. His cruel character in 0083 is also seen in Z gundam.
Rating: Summary: Dazzling Review: I simply love this movie. There is a lot going on in it but it's defiantly worth viewing. If your a first time watcher of the Gundam series. Then you probably wont want to get this. You might get lost with all that is going on. But to any one is who an old die hard Gundam fan. This is defiantly for you. Though the animation might look old compared to the Gundam Wing series. The plot is just as good. This movie takes place fifteen years after the 0079 series launched off and is defiantly worth spending money on.
Rating: Summary: it was ok but was kinda confusing for me Review: i saw this movie a while back and i remember that there were a lot of characters i just didn't recognize at all and i was later told that it had characters from some of the other gundam series blended into it not just the original characters. well that didn't help much because i have seen all the gundams released in the US and i still don't know who some of those people were. some where introduced in the movie as new characters but others were just thrown in there from other series. my biggest gripe was the little girl (annoying little peice of crap) wanted her to die soooo bad my second were the deaths. ok when the people that were crushial to the story died their deaths weren't made to be big deals at all hell it seemed like some deaths went unnoticed cause there was no usual scream by the character followed by explosion you just saw them fly and explode but no cockpit view to see it was them. the animation was top notch and the fight scenes were awsome but the story was a bit thin i thought and Char didn't seem as cool as he once was he kinda seemed like a whiner in this movie which wasn't what he was supposed to be like.
Rating: Summary: Uh......huh? Review: okay first of all i'm not going to beat around the bush, this DVD has a lot of good stuff. the animation, the story, the new characters(except one), and of course Char and Amuro. the bad stuff is mostly Quess Paraya, man and I thought Dorothy on gundam wing was irritating. let me just spoil it for some of you guys she dies and it couldn't have happened to a nicer person. the ending really annoyed me did they both die or what? i don't want an open ended ending on what's supposed to be the final chapter of a saga. give me closure. i'll say hathaway is a useless and disposable character so there's nothing more to say. if i had one other beef it would be the voice actors they used instead of the ones from the original vhs release a few years back as amuro sounded too damn young for 29 and char didn't have all the charisma that he had in 0079(the original series)

Rating: Summary: Saw it on cable! Review: I was channel surfing late one Sat. night and accidentally tuned in. Just a matter of time before I get this one. It blew this 43-year old kid's mind!
Rating: Summary: ~ MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME ~ Review: I am *not* a movie buff by any stretch of the imagination, and therefore the declaration of "Char's Counterattack" (CCA) being my favorite movie of all time should not be taken as an especially valid indicator of how good this movie is from an objective standpoint. Rather, my declaration should indicate how much this film impacted my life when I first saw it, and how I continue to watch it over and over again, coming away with something new every time. I think writer-director (and Mobile Suit Gundam creator) Yoshiyuki Tomino is a genius; his concept of "newtype" humans in my opinion is very realistic, and I've never been the same since seeing CCA. This film remarkably captures the essence of what the original Gundam story was about: "Newtypes", and the complex beauty of the human condition. Unlike most animated action/sci-fi films, all the conflict takes place within the human race, rendering the overall narrative substantially more plausible than say, Robotech, and hitting the cognizant viewer much closer to home. Humanity has moved into space, and a class division has resulted: the space colonies which orbit Earth are essentially treated like second-class citizens in Earth-sphere. With a history of rebellion (one particular colony started the catastrophic One-Year War 14 years prior to the start of this film), the colonies are ruled from Earth, by the Earth Federation. The problem is, the Earth Federation has grown corrupt since the end of the One Year war with Zeon, the group of colonists which started the war in the first place. However, humanity prefers a corrupt government that keeps the peace than all-out war, so peace prevails for quite some time. Then seemingly out of nowhere, Char Aznable (a pivotal character since the first Gundam series) emerges as the leader of Neo-Zeon, a new group of rebel colonists. The mission of Char and his Neo-Zeon is simple: to force humanity into space by rendering the planet Earth uninhabitable. The reason? Because "newtype" humans (who have enhanced psychic abilities) first emerged among the colonies. Newtypes are the next step in the evolution of humanity, and as a newtype himself, Char believes that the cause of all human suffering (war, selfishness, evil, etc) comes from "oldtypes" on Earth. Char believes he is doing humanity a favor by forcing the hand of evolution. In doing so, he plans to destroy all life on planet Earth, by dropping the asteroid "Axis" (significant name) on it. Newtype ace Amuro Ray, the hero from the One Year War (depicted in the first Gundam television series) is back to stop Char, as a part of the Federation's special anti-terrorism unit, Londo Bell. Amuro and Char are longtime enemies; their mutual hatred solidified when Lalah Sune, a profoundly powerful newtype was killed (accidentally) by Amuro when she trying to stop them from fighting during the One Year War. As soldiers for Zeon, Lalah was Char's protoge. However Lalah and enemy pilot Amuro developed a "newtype" (spiritual) bond that Char was understandably jealous over. At any rate, Lalah was now dead, and Amuro and Char bitterly blamed each other for it ever since. CCA introduces new characters: Quess Paraya is a profoundly powerful newtype, who plays a notable role in the film. Hathaway Noah (the son of Bright Noah, commander of Londo Bell) also displays newtype abilities as the film progresses. It should be noted that both Quess and Bright are born on *Earth*, and not on the colonies... Amuro's Nu Gundam RX-93 is an amazing piece of mecha, equipped with remote weapons referred to as "fin funnels", that are controlled by his psychic abilities. The Nu Gundam is also enhanced with a form of technology called psycho-frame, which allows a newtype to wield an unprecedented amount of mind control over his mecha. The psycho-frame is also highly sensitive to the thoughts of others, and the human spirit -- just as newtypes have a higher sense of awareness in general. My favorite aspect of this film is the way in which it deals with the human spirit, manifested. Whether the human spirit is guiding remote weaponry, moving mecha, or simply engaging characters both living and dead, instances of everything I just mentioned take place during this film. Lalah Sune seems very much alive in spirit during this film. And so does another character close to Amuro, who even after death is able to accomplish her goal and help him against Char and his plot to drop the asteroid, "Axis" on Earth. Char and his Neo-Zeon load "Axis" with nukes to ensure that both radiation, and drastic climate changes caused by the asteroid's impact, will kill everything on Earth. Londo Bell plans to stop the asteroid (once discovered) with nukes of their own. To me, the "Axis" also represents the 'turning point' in human history in *our* world, when we entered the nuclear age during World War II... I believe that the ending of this film is really the dawning of a new age for humanity in Tomino's eyes. To me, that brilliant light we see represents the manifestation of the human spirit. Just as newtypes are able to move weapons, once properly harnessed, newtypes are also able to move people, and each other towards a common good. Once humanity is truly connected (meaning through our minds and spirits) then, and *only* then will there ever be an end to bloodshed, misery and war. This message is so simple, yet so seemingly impossible to accomplish, that it should move anyone who truly "gets it" at the end, to tears.
Rating: Summary: Good... Review: Couldn't be bothered outining the story, just look at the other reviews. Theres a bit more to char wanting to destroy the earth, he doesnt really "hate" earth, he just sees earthlings as inferior beings compared to the "space-noids", including the new types, basically a futuristic nazi, although he has some kind of excuse as the earthlings really are inferior to the "spacenoids". Anyway, it doesnt really matter because this is really only about the final battle between char and amuro, and the ending is very well done and cinematic. The action is very fluid, and feels as a feature movie should. the mech design is very impressive, the best in the Gundam franchise ive seen apart from stardust memory and maybe f-91. A worthy edition to anyones movie collection, especially gundam fans.
Rating: Summary: New Type Review: A movie with truly dazling background effects and the dubbing is beyond awasome.A romantic action/adventure outter space movie set in the future. Amuro and Quest are two of the main characters .Quest is a young and some what bratty, and spoiled girl(in my opion),who like Amuro is a New Type. A person who is sensitive to other's feelings, and can vision ones next moves in battels.Though there is more to it then that of cores. Noah Bright's own son Hathaway is in the exciting movie who tries to befriend Quest after twist of faith meting Quest and the Vice Forigen Minister. He is given the chance of going on words to space thanks to him but not his mother and younger sister and ends up being on the same space ship that his father Caption Noah Bright . Now enemies Char insites trying to freez the earth and try to put it under a blanket of sleep. So that humanity can become the next involved step towards a better race. But who will win this battel?Char and Quest? Are Amuro and Noah Bright and the rest of the crew?
