Rating: Summary: Mmm.. Ayashi No Ceres... Scrumptious... Review: I must say that, after waiting years since watching Fushigi Yuugi for another of Watase-sama's works-turned-anime, Ayashi no Ceres (or Ceres: Celestial Legend, if you prefer that name) is a welcome sight. This series manages romance and horror (or something like it... ^_~) veeery well (and, as a bonus, it follows the manga closely enough... though how the creators of the anime would successfully cover 14 volumes of the manga in 24 episodes is a mystery to me! Still, this's a must-see...!), and those cliffhangers are veeery frustrating! >_< Well, I suppose that just means that the series is great, right? Anyway, I'm eagerly awaiting the rest of the series... and I suggest you buy the DVD, to avoid any mismatched American voices with the greatness of the original Japanese characters. Mmmkay? e.e;
Rating: Summary: Ceres Review: I really enjoyed watching this series. I found the story line very interesting all the way through. I won't explain it because the other reviewers did a good enough job of that. It was hard to stop watching once I got started because every episode ends with sort of a cliff hanger. It was well worth watching and the money I spent buying it. The music is good, too. The opening theme, Scarlet, has got to be one of the prettiest theme songs I have ever heard. The DVDs I own have an interview Yu Watase in Japanese (of course) with subtitles, a character gallery, and other things. Over all, Ceres is another great series inspired by Yu Watase's work. Whether you like FY or not, you should definitely check this out. Rent it if you are really unsure about it, but I suggest buying it.
Rating: Summary: Good Animation Review: I really liked Fushigi Yuugi and this is in similar style. That means it has a very intriguing plot, characters with depth, some humor as well as fighting scenes. The main character Aya has a twin brother and their sixteenth birthday party goes haywire, with Aya finding out that she is an angel. Two mysterious guys save her from her family who is desperatly trying to kill her. Looks like a very good series, I can't wait. The animation is good, I always watch in Japanese with subtitles so I have no idea about the voice-over English version. The music seems to be good, but it hasn't hooked me like FY yet. There are the first three episodes on this DVD with some footage of the comic author Yuu.
Rating: Summary: The ending redeems this series Review: I really wanted to like Ceres, so I stuck with the series even when the story started to become choppy and inconsistent. After seeing the ending of the series, I'm happy that I didn't give up on it. The beginning of Ceres is quite good. It leaves you intrigued and wanting more. However, about midway through the story it goes downhill: the plot progression starts to take leaps, some characters' development is noticeably absent, and you wind up with these weird departures from the main storyline. Overall, the majority of this series is a bit frustrating. The problem was that I liked Fushigi Yugi so much (Yu Watase's previous work) that I stubbornly didn't want to give up on Ceres. Sticking with it was a good choice: as with Fushigi Yugi, the climax and ending of Ceres are excellent, and redeem the series for me. However, the inconsistent quality for the majority of the series makes it difficult to recommend. Ceres is definitely worth watching, but it has enough flaws that I'm not sure it's worth purchasing (rent it if you can).
Rating: Summary: Ayashi No Ceres is a must see ANIME! Review: I think that Ayashi No ceres is the Best Anime yet! Sure the theme is darker I mean in a episode siblings kiss. But if u loved Fushigi Yuugi you'll love this. I really recomend it.
Rating: Summary: Ayashi No Ceres! Review: I was really happy when they rereleased this great series. Ayashi No Ceres has to be one of the best. I bet this version is even better, because when I saw this for the first time it was in Engrish. I think what they did was translate the chinese into english. But anyway you should all see this anime. Its on of the best!
Rating: Summary: Yu Watase does it again. Review: I've been a fan of Fushigi Yugi by Yu Watase and I didn't think she would be able to top it. I believe she out did herself with Ceres - Celestial Legend.
Rating: Summary: Watase Yuu always got her best! Review: It all starts with the first episode(The Day The Star and The Moon of Sixteen Meet) Mikage Aya is a seemingly ordinary girl who has just had her fortune told. The ominous fortune bothers her, however, as its cryptic message appears dark and foreboding. On her 16th birthday, after some strange circumstances, she's invited to a birthday party at her grandfather's home. Although her grandfather's home is filled with pleasant memories, something sinister awaits her there. In episode 2(Tenyo's First Kiss) The awful truth has been revealed, and Aya finds herself fighting for her life. Her father, in his attempt to save her, has paid a very dear price. During her flight, however, she encounters the mysterious boy who saved her in the street once again. With her grandfather's henchmen surrounding the estate, will she and her would-be savior escape. In episode 3(One who fell From the Heavens) Facing her rescuers, the truth is finally revealed to Aya. It seems that she's really a mystical Tenyo with psychic abilities at her disposal. This fact makes her very dangerous to the Mikage clan who are trying their hardest to dispose of her permanently. Unable to accept this, Aya searches for her brother in the hospital, but finds her mother instead. Her mother appears to take her life, however.
Rating: Summary: To Make It More Realistic Review: Okay, Fushigi Yuugi was better, in terms of the anime.(I haven't read the Ayashi No Ceres manga.) Though Aya is a much better heroine than Miaka, the love between Aya and ? (I won't say to spoil it for you guys) is less than what Miaka and Tamahome had. I kept thinking that someday Aya would understand and realize that she was chasing after the wrong guy, but NO she continues and blows off the other guy. Plus, the guy Aya chooses is annoying because he's like perfect (in the annoying way); it made me sick cause this guy didn't act human, with faults and such. Aki didn't get enough development. He was there, but mostly in the background for over half of it, disappears, then at the end you are supposed to care about the guy. I think that the shortened storyline really hurt Aki's character development. I bet a lot of the side stories were taken out, but don't take my work for it. This is a big problem with the entire series actually. To little time given to everything. Good things about this one are that it's far more serious than Fushigi Yuugi. It's darker. The deaths are fewer, of course there are fewer main characters. Aya doesn't remain a virgin, but it's still not dealt with in an adult manner. (Kare Kano did this really well.) There are some really great characters, again the time limit diminished them. All in all, Ayashi no Ceres (it's Japanese name) is very good, but the limited amount of time (compare 24 eps to 52!) compared to Yuu Watase's other sereis, Fushigi Yuugi, makes her work seem less polished and complete. I suggest it for older Watase fans or those looking for a darker romance with a bit of Watase's typical humor.
Rating: Summary: Buy the whole series! Review: Plot: Average teenager Aya Mikage finds out on her 16th birthday that her family wants to kill her because she's the reincarnation of the family's ancestor, a Celestial maiden, Ceres. Ceres wants to destroy the Mikage, so the Mikage want to destroy Ceres (who is sharing a body with Aya) first. Ceres especially wants to kill Aya's twin brother Aki. This results in a lot of trouble and heartache, then add Aya falling in love with Toya (who works for the Mikage) and Yuuhi (who's sister helps Aya) falling in love with Aya..... My thoughts: Very different from Fushigi Yugi, Yu Watase's other popular work, which is funny and for the most part light hearted. Ceres is somewhat dark and it's dramatic. My mini-plot doesn't really do it justice, there's a lot that goes on in Ceres, I had to know what happens next and couldn't stop watching it (I have an imported boxed set). If only Yuuhi were real, I'd marry him in a second! I recommend watching the dubbed first so it's easier to pay attention to plot and animation, and then watch the subbed to get a real feel for the emotion of the show. There is just something about the Japanese language that expresses emotion better than English. Toya's Japanese voice seems to fit him better, while Yuuhi's English voice seems to fit better. The music is very good, recycled a lot, but very good. Not for kids, I would say at least 13 and up. There's some nudity, violence, blood, and adult situations/themes.
