Rating: Summary: Oz fights back Review: I really enjoyed the Gundam Wing series in general and this DVD in particular. This DVD covers episodes 11-15. In this part of the series the action starts to heat up as the OZ forces step into the forefront and begin to fight back against the gundams. The quality of animation and the depth of plot makes Gundam Wing an exceptional series.
Rating: Summary: Great series Review: INTRODUCTION: Ever since the late seventies, the Gundam series has been one of the most successful and widely-loved anime series in the world. It has become a favorite of many over the years. There have been several different sub-series over the years, and one of the most popular ones of which is the Wing series, released in the mid-nineties. This is a DVD featuring episodes fromt that series. Read on for my review.BASIC PLOT: The Gundam Wing series follows the exploits of five young men who pilot mobile suits against the forces of an organization seeking world domination. There's Heero (the main man), Duo (the cool guy), Trowa (the quiet guy), Quatre (the peace-lover), and Wufei (the overconfident hothead.) The battle rages on for forty-nine episodes, and as the series progresses, a number of plot twists keep things interesting. This is a rare example of a series where the characters aren't paper thin - they continue to evolve as the series progresses. This is one of the best anime series out there, as one of the best mecha series. SERIES OPINIONS: To put it simply, this is an excellent series. Many fans of the Gundam series call this the best sub-series of all, and honestly, who can blame them? The storyline is great, the animation is great, the characters are great - everything about this series is great. It's good to see the series get a long overdue DVD release in America. DVD: These DVDs are good, because they contain several uncut episodes, but they're bad in that they don't contain any special features (that is, other than the very basic DVD stuff.) The series is one of the greatest anime series out there, but don't expect any bonus material. OVERALL: Overall this is an excellent anime series, and I recommend it to any anime or mecha fan. If you like either one, this series will not disappoint.
Rating: Summary: Great series! Review: Ok, in general the Gundam series has always been a favorite of mine. first off it has some great action sequences and a nice story line thats not TOO hard to fallow if your a littel new to the Gundam series... but all in all i must say that the american DVD release of New Mobile Report: Gundam Wing was a welcome sight! even though this particular DVD is not out yet i DO own the First one and it is something every gundam fan should own if you can't find the subtitled episodes from Japan that is :)
Rating: Summary: scenario for bloodshed Review: The Episode: Scenario for Bloodshed is great, showing how OZ launches a coup dtat against the alliance. The events in the Treize Assasination epidose are key to psyche of wufei especially in episode 49. you will finally get to she the Tallgeese in action! highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: The Plot Thickens... Review: The first Gundam Wing dvd started with a bang, and finished with a revelation about who Relena really is. This dvd continues where the last left off with Relena's return to earth. But when OZ tries to take Relena out of the picture will Heero place the mission first, or give in to his feelings for her? The first episode is good, but the second episode has in my opinion the first HUGE plot twist in the series. The Gundam pilots are manipulated by OZ into destroying the same kind of people they're supposed to protect, and this allows OZ to start a world-wide revolution. The Earthsphere Alliance were creampuffs compared to OZ, and now we know why. The Treize Assassination deals with the aftermath of the previous episode, but the real high point is Wu Fei's confrontation with Treize. But is Treize really as bad as he seems? One of my favorite episodes in the entire Gundam Wing series is episode 9, Portrait of a Ruined Country. This episode focuses primarily on Zechs and his simultaneous attempt to free his home country and master the awesome Mobile Suit Tallgeese. We already know that Zechs is the greatest non-Gundam pilot on earth, but when he first tries to pilot Tallgeese...he nearly dies. The speech he makes about just what exactly the Tallgeese is should NOT be missed, to say nothing of the AWESOME battle scene where he first tries it out. And to top it all off, at the end of the episode Zechs takes off his mask. And of course it would be cruel of me not to mention the last episode to be found on the dvd, where Heero and Zechs duel for the first time. This is a great series for people who love Mecha, and Gundam fans in particular. And if you love the first few discs, keep getting more! The series just better and better as it goes along (in character development, action scenes, animation quality, and just plain overall greatness).
Rating: Summary: An Excellent GW DVD if just for Episode 10 Alone! Review: The second Gundam Wing DVD contains 5 episodes that set several important elements in place for what is to come later in the series. Episode 6 gives us insight into Relena's character and her attachment to the Gundam pilot Heero. The next two episodes develop the plans of OZ, the antagonists, and sees the Gundam pilots suffer a serious defeat. Episode 9 further develops the OZ character, Zechs Marquise, and allows us a look into his past. Finally, we have episode 10. I believe this to be Wing's best episode. The action, drama, and, well, everything is done so well in this episode. The conflict between the Gundams and OZ gets really serious. The end will leave you in suspense if you haven't seen it, and remind of the lump that formed in your throat if you already have. You also get profiles of Gundam Deathscythe, Duo Maxwell, and Zechs Marquise.
Rating: Summary: this is the best Review: This is the best anime I have ever seen. The story is great and the action is even better. Once you start watching you get hooked. The voice acting for the main characters is well done and the translation is good as well. Even though the DVDs for the rest of the series aren't released you should definately pick this DVD up. Watch the rest of the series on Cartoon Network at 5:30 or 12:00.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing after Operation 1 Review: This is the second DVD in the Gundam Wing decameron and it introduces us to five more episodes of the saga. Though this DVD is essential to collectors who wish to own the whole set, I would not recommend it as a one-off purchase. The story is great but the video transfer on this DVD lacks the clarity of the Gundam Wing DVD Operation 1. Operation 2 is rather blurry and the soundtrack lacks the punch of the first. As a Gundam Wing fan I was a little disappointed with this release -- for no other reason than the video transfer was so poor. Episode 8 has some weird sound problems indicative of poor tracking on the master tape. Shame on Pioneer; they know better than to release poor quality video on an anime title. Let's hope DVD Operations 3 - 10 are better made than this one. Video and sound problems force me to give this excellent anime (but mediocre DVD) three stars :^(
Rating: Summary: Gundam Wing Operation 2 Review: This was an excellent dvd. Unlike a previous reviewer my copy had perfect picture. Just as good as the first. And there were no soundtrack errors to show up at all. After reading his review I re watched it with some friends and we all agreed. No distortion or blurriness on the HDTV and no sound track errors present on the graphic analyzer. He may have possibly gotten a bad copy so there may be some out there. I look forward to the next 8 releases and recommend this to anyone.
Rating: Summary: OZ has taken Center Stage Review: Treize, the leader of OZ, has tricked the Gundam pilots to kill the leaders of the Earth-Sphere Alliance. The Gundam pilots thought they were killing members of OZ, but they were fooled by Treize! Meanwhile, Zechs discovers a flaw in the tallgeese and we learn that Relena is Zechs's sister! Zechs wears his mask as a sign of shame we also learn.
