Rating: Summary: Lots of Familiar Faces Review: For those of you have only seen Dragon Ball Z, take a look at this DVD. At long last, we're getting to the end of the original Dragon Ball series, and most of the characters and places are starting to look very familiar to fans of DBZ. Kami, Mr. Popo, and the Lookout make their first appearance in this DVD. Anyone who knows Mr. Popo as the gentle servant of Kami will get a surprise here as he gives Goku the fight of his life! Once Goku gets past Popo, he gets a big shock when he sees Kami (AAAGH, KING PICCOLO CAME BACK TO LIFE!!). But Kami, as we know, is a good guy, and as the creator of the Dragon Balls is glad to help Goku repair King Piccolo's damage. In a very real sense, though, King Piccolo IS alive again. The egg that King Piccolo spat out at his death has hatched out a nasty little Namek who has begun his own minor reign of terror. This is Piccolo Jr., better known as the Piccolo of DBZ. Before long, Piccolo Jr. grows into a nasty big Namek out to destroy Goku and avenge his father's death. Piccolo Jr. finds his chance at the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament. Of course, Goku is there, now the tall, muscular young man we see him as in DBZ. Krillin's grown up a little too, and so has Chi Chi. It's been six years since Goku and Chi Chi have last met, and now they meet in the fighting ring. Chi Chi may want the prize money, but she seems much more interested in having Goku try some of that "marriage" that he refused before. Among the other top fighters at the tournament are Mercenary Tao, who we THOUGHT died with the Red Ribbon Army. Tao is out to avenge his brother (Tien and Chiaotzu's former sensei, the Crane Hermit). After Tao takes down Chiaotzu, Tien fights Tao with renewed passion. Finally, a perfectly ordinary looking guy turns out to be a serious fighter with a bone to pick with Piccolo Jr. Who is Mr. Perfectly Ordinary? You'll have to stay tuned for the Piccolo Jr. Part 2 DVD!
Rating: Summary: Its Bomb Diggity Fresh Review: I just bought the Uncut version and the episodes are really good it shows where piccolo comes from and there is a really good tournament with Goku vs. Piccolo I really recommend you buy this DVD its great if you have any questions please e-mail me at gunitsoldier671@aol.com
Rating: Summary: Disappointing quality, but good DB episodes Review: I just purchased this DVD set, and I thought it average. Of course I would only watch the subbed Japanese version, and I was disappointed both with the grainy picture quality and the sound quality (which is in mono, not stereo). Some of the subs were off, and there were a few misspellings (like "alright" instead of "All right" or "earned" instead of "learned"). In one episode in particular, I found that the subbers were pulling an old (and annoying) Funimation trick - replacing the original dialogue with their own creation (like putting in "Man!" or "Totally radical!"). The overall quality, though, is better than the 45 MB fansubbed episodes I had downloaded awhile back, which is why I purchased this DVD set. The "extras" are nothing to write home about, but I was interested in the actual episodes anyways.
Rating: Summary: Japanese? Review: I'd love to buy these, but I don't want them unless they have the japanese tracks included. Can anyone clue me in, or update the item description?

Rating: Summary: Worth checking out for the tie-in with DBZ but not worth 40$ Review: The episodes that you will want to check out are the first four and the last four of the collection. They feature the first appearances of Kami, Mr. Popo, Ma Jr.(Piccolo of DBZ), Cyborg Tao-Pi-Pi and even Goku's proposal to Chi Chi. They also feature the 23rd World Tournament, which features the long awaited Goku vs. Piccolo fight. However, the other half of the two-disc set is filled with pointless filler episodes(something the original Dragonball is notorious for) that do not add at any all to the experience of the important ones. Also, the quality does not seem nearly as good as Funimation's other DVDs, which can also detract from the experience. Overall, while a devoted DBZ fan will want to check this out, I recommend finding it at a discount place or borrowing these from a friend, but don't go wasting $40.

Rating: Summary: Mr.Popo! Oh my Kami!! Review: This dvd is a very interesting one. It is not really a saga because it mostly talks about Goku,Krillen,Yamcha,Tien, and Chatozou's training (Forgive if spelled wrong). The best part of this dvd is Mr.Popo,Kami, and everyone's favorite guy, Piccolo(In this dvd he is known as Juniour.) Goku's training is pretty funny to watch. The all time greatest battle of Dragonball is also in this dvd. No, even better than Goku vs. Red Ribbon Army! Goku versus....... Chi Chi!!!!!!! If you are a true fan to dragonball own this dvd!!!!!!!!!
