Rating: Summary: Sailor Moon Super S DVDs - Good Overall Review: For those of you who don't know, Sailor Moon is an anime series about a group of girls with the ability to transform into warriors so that they can battle the forces of evil. It sounds like something that's been done to death, but this series pulls it off nicely. Each episode of the series contains a good deal of dramatic action, with some comedy thrown in to make the series a bit more appealing. Originally it was intended for pre-teenage girls in Japan, but it has drawn in fans from many age groups and nationalities. The series began airing in America as early as 1995, but the episodes were horribly edited, and the dialogue was butchered. The poor time slot didn't help things ever, and eventually it vanished without a trace, until it was picked up by the Cartoon Network, which aired several new episodes, but these suffered the same flaws as their early North American predecessors. But at long last, Pioneer has created the solution to the problem - DVDs of the series, in all their original uncut glory. Now on to the DVD itself. You get several episodes, which you can view in English or Japanese (if you choose the latter, subtitles have been provided.) However, I was hoping to find more extra features than this. Overall this is an excellent DVD release for an excellent anime series. Contrary to popular belief, THIS DVD IS NOT OVERPRICED. It is slightly longer than most standard episode DVDs, so the slght price increase shouldn't be a problem. Fans of the original uncut Sailor Moon series, I strongly recommend you buy this item.
Rating: Summary: Take it from someone who loves Sailor Moon... Review: I'm one of those lucky few that get to do a stupid child-like dream while I'm a pre-teen. I'm one of those lucky few who has watched every single episode of Sailor Moon, 1-200. I have also watched all three movies, Sailor Moon Super S specials and most of the musicals. Sailor Moon Super S was a great series looking at Chibi-Usa a lot and deals with her in depth. Chibi-Usa leaves very ubruptly in Sailor Moon Sailor Stars and is only mentioned a few times so it's nice to know that we've already learned a lot about her. I actually hope that Sailor Moon Sailor Stars doesn't come to the USA because it's so awkward in a good way to have a curtain covering it up and the people who have watched the season will think about it in a more fond way. Sailor Moon Sailor Stars is very, very complicated and you'll think about the first 10 or so Sailor Senshis in a different way and the planets that were aligned to them. It is also quite sad that the importance of Neo-Queen Serenity's importance and Sailor Moon's importance fades away towards the end because there are knew Sailor Soldiers plus Sailor Galaxia and Pincess Kakyuu. BUT all in all, everybody who is a true fan of Sailor Moon should watch every single thing! I'm still looking for Make Up! Sailor Senshi and Dreaming Moon-Sailor Moon to X'mas. I missed out on the special limited edition Sailor Moon Movie Boxed-set that came out in Japan in March this year! Darn it! I want it SOOOOO bad!
Rating: Summary: Good set Review: INTRODUCTION: Sailor Moon is an anime series that first aired in 1992. It was based on a manga series created by Nakao Takeuchi, best known for her Sailor V series at the time. In no time at all, the series had become wildly popular, and in the mid-nineties it was ported to America. Unfortunately, it was severely edited. Some entire episodes were missing and the dialogue was butchered. Fans cried out for uncut episodes. And finally, early in the new millennium, uncensored DVDs were released. The entire Super S series, the fourth of five series, is now available uncut on DVD! Read on for my review of this set. BASIC PLOT: This is the fourth of the five Sailor Moon series. By now the Death Busters have been defeated, and Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus have left town. Sailor Chibi Moon has also decided to remain in the present time period rather than go back to the future. Unfortunately, the peace period is short lived. A new series of villains has arrived on the scene following the occurence of an eclipse. These new villains hunt down humans for their dream mirrors, in hope that they will find the one that their master desires. And all the while, Chibiusa keeps getting visits from a mysterious Pegasus in her dreams. What's up with this? This saga of Sailor Moon rages on for about thirty episodes. SERIES OPINIONS: Overall, this is a good Sailor Moon saga, but when compared to the other sagas of the series, it's strictly average. The Dream Mirror thing is pretty much a rip-off of the Heart Crystal thing from the previous series, the S series. Likewise, Chibiusa is an annoying character - although she's not QUITE as bad as people make her out to be. If you're a fan of the series, check this saga out. I think you'll enjoy it. THE DUB: The dubbed version of the series is in many ways better than previous sagas that have been dubbed, and worse in many ways. It's better in that it uses the original background music and that more of the character names than ever before are close to their originals, but it's worse in that some scenes are horribly translated, and many of them have been Americanized, often with horrible slang. Here's a little tip - while you're watching the Japanese subtitled version of the DVD, hit the Audio button on your DVD remote and switch to the dub track. This way you can watch the English dub with the English subtitles for the Japanese version - there's no better way to see how bad some of the translations are! DVD: Once again, DVDs featuring an uncut dub and an uncut sub have been released. This is great because you get both versions of the series. Unfortunately, these DVDs are severely lacking in the extras department. Why couldn't they give us things like production art and interviews with cast and crew? Those would have been great extras! OVERALL: Overall this is an excellent DVD set, but I remain confident that I could also have been done much better. Still, if you're a Sailor Moon fan, this is a strongly recommended release.
Rating: Summary: Sailor Moon SuperS Review: My first question is...why does Pioneer refuse to put curse words as subtitles..most of the time. As you may already know they put "Sheesh, or Geez" and most of the time you can tell they're saying Damn NOT sheesh or geez. ~_~ Uhhg. I suppose adults are'nt mature enough to handle these words. *_* Yet little kids can handle Zirconia calling the Quartet "bimbos" umm..ok? I almost peed my pants from laughing so hard when I heard Elios' or Helios' voice *ENGLISH voice* it's HILARIOUS! He sounds like an old man!! AHAHAHHAHAHAHHAAHAHAH ok..I'm..OKAY. Of course, the Japanese version is AS always much better. The title screen is nice, not many extras though. One thing I do not like...the Quartet's phrase is so DUMB "don't dream that you're all grown up, big dreams are best just for kids" I don't know what it is about it it's way too annoying. THE JAPANESE VERSION ALL THE WAY!! ^_^ :-D

Rating: Summary: The storyline really starts moving now Review: This disc does more to advance the story of the SuperS series than the last two combined. The Amazon Trio arc ends, the Amazoness Quartet arc begins, and Nehelenia finally puts in a major appearance. This disc also includes the infamous "nude Ami" episode (Barbie doll nudity only, but clothesless nonetheless) and some serious Fish Eye air time, so consider yourself warned. Both of these add significantly to the overall story, though, so as long as you're not offended by the concepts you'll be treated to one of the best discs in the series.
