The animation of the battle is minimal, despite its significance, with held drawings substituting for action in many places. When Guts's trademark two-handed sword shatters in combat with the Chuder general, a demonlike creature throws him a new one. It departs, muttering ominously that "the time of the great eclipse draws near," obviously foreshadowing the next adventure Guts will pursue. He wants to leave Hawks, and the plot the Queen and court nobles have hatched against Griffith will give him the opportunity to move on.
