Although much of volume 4 is devoted to flashbacks of Yuzuriha and Kamui learning to deal with their psychic powers during childhood, the story picks up some needed momentum. Remembering that his mother told him to become strong to protect Kotori and Fuma, the people he loves, Kamui makes the crucial decision to become a Dragon of Heaven and protect the Earth, rather than a Dragon of Earth who would remake the planet and destroy humanity. Traumatized by the appearance of the second Divine Sword, Kotori withdraws into a world of dreams. With the help of another "Dreamseer" she manages to intervene in the first battle between Kamui and her older brother Fuma. As Kamui's twin star, Fuma must become a Dragon of Earth, a fate that will lead to the terrible battle Kotori foresaw in her dreams.
