Rating: Summary: English Version of Dragonball Review: I bought this was going to be the coolest DVD ever. On the box its says original Japanese version but thats B.S. They cut out all the funniest parts that are not suitible for children. Also on the box it says it has an interactive game but all it is is a stupid quiz, but what i really hate is that it is only in english. They have english subtitles available but no Japanese words to go with it. If you want to get the whole story get the comics. Even though it is missing all that it is still ok and has all English episodes and the movie Curse Of The Blood Rubies. I just wish that they would make a better DVD set that was unedited, had Japanese language available to hear it in, and had a better Chapter selection. Maybe Pioneer could buy the rights and make a real anime DVD.
Rating: Summary: Great Box-Set, but it is on DVD for LESS Review: This box-set takes you through the first Dragon Ball quest and introduces you to all the gang. The movie is just a pile of piddly crap...it is the first 13 episodes with a few minor changes that are stupid and neglect some important events in the Dragon Ball Series. For those of you considering a purchase of this video set, you should know that it is on a DVD set for cheap. I got the set for $21.00 on DVD from Suncoast Video, and it is a lot cleaner thant the video version. So if you want to save money and want it on DVD it is out there just keep looking.
Rating: Summary: Cool but edited Review: I made the mistake of buying this one at Best Buy without doing my homework beforehand. I really wish the company who packaged this dvd set would have put a big sticker labeled "EDITED VERSION" on the box. Some of the coolest scenes have been yanked out to avoid angry parents. Boo hiss. Still entertaining and worth buying though.
Rating: Summary: Blarg! Review: All of these episodes are heavily edited. All of the funny jokes that wouldn't be appropriate for the majority of the American viewers (little children) have been taken out, and changed around so they make no sense at all. FUNimation did a pretty good job with the voices, and its great that for such a low price you get episodes 1-13 and a movie. All that's left of the 140 other epidoes of the series is the rise and fall of the Red Ribbon Army, Gokou being runner up at all of the Tenkaichi Budokais but 1, training with Urani Baba, many many deaths, the introduction of a lot of great characters such as Piccolo Daimao, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, Tao Pai Pai, Chaio-tzu, Android 8, Baba, and a lot of other keen stuff.
Rating: Summary: Tobias13 says great Review: Look, I have just gotten the videos and they are great. I first started reading the books in Japanese (I can read Japanese)and I just got hooked. So right after that I got the videos. The only bad part is that they edited some parts. So I sugest that you get the videos.
Rating: Summary: The begining of dragonball Review: This set is the begining of the dragonball series. It's the same eps. that funimation has already released on vhs, nothing new here. It does cost less than the vhs package so if you haven't seen them it's the way to go. One of the other reviews claims that these leave off where DBZ begins but they don't, there is only 12 epsiodes and 1 movie in this set and the series has more than 150 episodes and 4 movies. All in all this is a very good set and some of the funniest episodes.
Rating: Summary: English only DVD Review: While this DVD lists that it has Spanish and English subtitles, what it doesn't list is that it is only in English for the audio. Truly a fantastic story, great anime, but make sure you're looking for the dubbed version and not the japanese original version when you buy this.
Rating: Summary: HOW DBZ began Review: what U have here is the begining of the phenomenon call the DBZ craze! we have goku landing on earth. he was Very distructive for some time till he bonked his head and became a good kid. he learned the martial arts and started joining compations. he was the best there was and is. Eventually he got some major enemies and he set out to take care of them. Destroying the whole red ribbon army on his way. at the end of these disks is where the DragonBall Z series starts. great story but the animation could have used some help. That is the Only downfall I see in these movies. GO get them.
Rating: Summary: Dragonball - First of the Triology Review: You will just love this set. I gave it four stars because it was censored to much so it looks like a kid show, as Dragonball, DBZ, and DBGT are targeted to adults 18 and over, but this is still a very enjoyable tape to watch. Unlike Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT, Dragonball gives more information, so that later in the series, there can be a lot of action scenes without people getting confused. This set has all the Dragonball tapes that FUNimation dubbed, about 1/4 of the episodes are here, all the English ones. I watched Dragonball on Fox a long time ago, and I still watch it now, as it's still better than watching DBZ crap that Funimation did on UPN and Cartoon Network. Get this set!
Rating: Summary: Da Bomb! Review: Perfect it shows how Goku was Taught the Kamehemahema attack and how he met Krillen and Bulma
