Summary: Read the Books!
Review: I rented this movie with some others because sounded different than martial arts and robots. I didn't know there was such a thing as "yaoi". Admittedly, the story was kind of lame, but I really enjoyed the characters! They seemed well formed, as though they had been snatched out of the middle of a series, so I looked into FAKE and Anime Turnpike. As luck would have it, the first volume of the manga was just being released by Tokyo Pop!
I highly recommend the manga for this anime. The artwork far outshines the OAV, and the characters are wonderfully funny and real. The OAV really doesn't do Dee and Ryo justice (if fact they look a bit dispropotioned).
Read the books! They'll become your favorite!

Summary: Awsome
Review: I've only read manga 1 and 2, but like endless times. This series is sooooo good! I totally recommend Fake! Warning though, it's shounen ai (meaning gay) so if you don't particularly like gay manga... If you don't know whether you like it then give this a try. It's hilarious!!!

Summary: Does this really happen in the NYPD?
Review: If you are looking for a new incredibly funny DVD then Fake was made for you. It is a story that touches on the subject of descrimination, but mainly centers around Dee's bizarre and comical love for Ryo, his partner in the NYPD. It is well drawn and the story is interesting, (as well as very very silly.) At first, it seems as if it is going to be just another city cop story with guns, but when Dee convinces his police chief to let him have the same vacation time as Ryo, the fact that they are police is almost lost. Fake features murder, ghosts, hatred, jealousy, bets, gay love, and all that good stuff. The opening theme is memorable and cute as well. I would recommend this OAV to anybody who is a fan of anime, even if you are not a fan of YAOI. Most of it is done in good humor, (but if that's not your thing just close your eyes at the icky parts. ^.~)

Summary: A REAL expieriance
Review: If you're a Shonen ai/yaoi anime fan, Fake is definatly for you, I got it because the two main characters are wearing very tight pants on the DVD cover, but anyway,...
This is about Dee and Ryo, two New York cops on vacation in rural England, With their basic agndas being relaxing (Ryo) and getting Ryo in to bed (Dee) But both of their plans take the sidebar (well, Ryo's more than Dee's) When Japanese tourists start turning up dead around the hotel, this is a major problem for Ryo, because he is half japanese.
So together they have to try and figure out what's going on while battling obsticles such as, annoying admirers, brat kids and much more

Summary: Great
Review: OK... so here's a really simple review. Buying this movie is defintely worth it. Not only is it a fairly cute shounen-ai anime, but it actually has a respectible plot and story-line. There's really only a bit of guy on guy kissing and whatnot. So if that doesn't bug you, go for it!

Summary: The humor is true to the book.
Review: Okey, so it's short in comparison to the anime. So you can't fit all the humorous angst & attempts at scoring into one little DVD, but you can at least have a piece of it to get hooked onto. There's been rumor of Fake OAV2 if it hasn't already happened. I got this last year as an $8 VHS fansub. I didn't care for the dubb when it came out, but at least one of the voices was less annoying in English^_~

Summary: sheesh! this stuff gives me the chill!!
Review: one of my fav anime now.. this is my first ever experience of shonen ai anime and all i can say is IT'S DA BOMB!! sasuga!! the first impression when my sis bought the anime was "yeah right! the shoulder's too broad the hip looks like it's been jammed in between a car jack!" but changed my mind straight away when i heard Dee's crazy american dubbing and Ryo's soft, timid, almost whispery voice. i got the chance to listen to both dialogues. Japanese and english. It was cool! Amazingly, Seki Tomokazu's voice of Dee doesnt sound chichiri-ish at all!
the best part of it all has gotta be the "scenes" esp the kissing part. very definatel;y original! the whole OVA is a MUST BUY especially to all the anime freaks out there, and even if ya dont like anime, ure definately gonna burst into tears laughing at all the humor...did anyone noticed... Dee's hair looks alot like tamahome's hair, dont u think?!
wheres the sequel?...

Summary: Fake - no. Bizarre - yes!
Review: Perhaps the strangest "cartoon" I have ever seen. I find Japanese films pretty odd at the best of times but this is quite simply one that has to be seen to be believed. However that is a recommendation.

The two main characters actually work quite well and apart from the face explosions (the catoonist can't seem to draw feelings very well) it's not that bad!

This is certainly not for main stream viewing but at the same time is not offensive. It's apparently known as "Yaoi" so look it up before you buy or check the other reviews.

Summary: Unique.

Summary: Maybe if you're an anime fan . . .
Review: The boy love content was fun, but overall, this is a thin, silly story, rather like a Scooby Doo episode. And it incorporates all the elements that kept me away from anime for so long: the weird faces, screechy voices, spastic secondary characters (JJ I'm talkin' to you, buddy) who jar painfully in contrast to the better developed (and drawn) heros. The English dubbed voices are mostly awful, with most of the cast sounding like the denizens of a Stonewall era gay bar. Again, the two main characters are a nice exception to this, but I ended up listening to the Japanse audio with subtitles. Those voices are much better.

This is a classic, but don't expect "Cowboy Bebop" or even "Trigun" quality.
