Summary: It would have gotten a higher rating . . . .
Review: I seriously think it was wrong of WB to cut so much of the Japanese version of this film to make the American version, and that is why this movie gets 4 stars and not 5. Because if I could see the ENTIRE, UNCUT movie I would undoubtedly love it more than I already do . . . and it would get six stars . . . but that's impossible since it can only have 5 stars . . . and it's definitely better than the Amarican version (so I've heard). So it only gets four stars =(. But if only I had not found out about the 'butchering' of this movie, I would give it 5 stars. So why such a high rating, when others give it a low rating? Because, the first time I saw it, I found myself thinking, "Wow. What a powerful movie." I was in a daze. I spent half that afternoon after I saw the movie wondering what would have happened if the Professor had used different words to tell Mewtwo about its birth. Plus, I LOVE movies and books about genetically engineered superior races . . . usually humans, but in this movie it was a Pokemon. AND, although it wasn't quite as romantic as the episode "Holy Matrimony!" (what COULD be?) it DID have cute scenes between Jessie and James. Also: another reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of the soundtrack. One word: Why???? I have more to say . . . but basically, don't judge Pokemon because of its commercial-ness. The TV show is spectacular . . . and has unexpected twists (who would have thought there'd be an episode like the aforementioned "Holy Matrimony!"? Why did Tracey come in after Brock left? Does Tracey serve an unexpected purpose after the third Pokemon movie, or was he just a 'tour guide' and no more?)

Summary: Almost very annoying.
Review: I lked "Pikachu's Vacation" more than "Mewtwo Strikes Back", i give "Pikachu's Vacation" ***, while i gave Mewtwo strikes back, *1/2, the result, is **1/2 stars, "Pikachu's Vacation" altough it's very simply made it's well done, the only problem withit, is that there is no plot, and no subtitles to know what exactly what the characters are saying, while in "Mewtwo Strikes Back", the plot is dumb, they are stone characters, the jokes almost don't work, and well it was VERY "OVERMADE", perhaps if the "Mewtwo Strikes Back", had a plot about a tournament, better jokes, and more things it would have been far better good. ...if Hayao Miyazaki, or Isao Takhata would have written the story, it would be far better good.

Summary: A VERYYYYY STRONG DISSAPOINTMENT
Review: Let's start with the whole story before, during, and after the Pokemon realese, it was announced on the first days of October, it looked preety cool, like if it was going to be one of the best anime film of all time, well, then i go too see it, and oh boy!, what a dissapointment, the plot is horrible, horrible, "Fue horrible, horrible" as a mexican comedian called Eugenio Derbez says in his show, the animation regular, the humor, horrible, there was nothing of humor!, everything was bad, except the message, it's terrible, you rather watch the cartoon, it's the kind of film that i would say,"AHH!, YA CALLATE, CALLATE QUE ME DESESPERAS!" a character called Quico, in Chespirito a mexican comedy show says.

Summary: Pokemon the obsession
Review: Pokemon is a cute kiddy anime. The movie is a one hit wonder. I would recommend that you rent this film before you buy it. I'm very neutral towards pokemon. I can't hate or love it. I watch the show off and on. If you have kids who are obsessed with this show only buy the DVD movies. The episode tapes are a waste of money!

Summary: Good movie
Review: People say this movie was bad but that isn't true. Very good movie. The moral is sort of right there in your face but that is because it was suppose to be that way. The movie was made for the children not for the teenagers like in Japan. So if you are 10 and up you may not like this movie even is you say you "love pokemon". In the US the show is edited a little becasue it is for young children just the movie is editied and chaged up. If you are looking for a ton of battles you won't get it in this movie. There is one big battle scene but non of the pokemon use their powers, but the just tackle or hit each other. If you are going to buy the movie let me just say you should have seen it in the theatre where it was a lot more fun to watch. If you like watch the show for the characters and the story line then you will like this movie. If you only watch the show because there is fighting between pokemon or because you sort of like it you won't like the movie. RENT IT FIRST is all I have to say if you aren't sure about buying it because you either like the movie or don't, that is the bottom line. Well I like the movie and i watch it occasionally. *For the children and teens who really do like pokemon and don't care what others think are the ones who will stay young at heart forever. Even when the teens and children are grown and pokemon has ended a small part of the show and all of its characters will live on in all of them...I know it will in me...

Summary: The Lousiest Movie on Earth
Review: If you are planning to buy this DVD, don't! It's a total waste of money. This was obviously just to make more money. In fact, Pokemon the Movie is a pathetic flop. Even Mission Impossible 2, which is also bad, would be better.

Summary: I worship Pokemon, but....this kinda stunk!
Review: This movie was a good first try, I guess, but seeing it once is deinitely enough. I expected I'd love it like the TV show, but no such luck. (It's the second movie that really rules.) Pikachu's Vacation is pretty lame, even though it has good lessons about teamwork and friendship...and the movie has an interesting plot, but it gets boring. Ash is invited to New Island, where Mewtwo, a genetically engineered and super-powerful Pokemon, is looking to make clones of everyone's Pokemon and take over the world or something like that. So they get into this whole big battle scene with the clones and real Pokemon fighting each other, which is really long and hard to sit through. But the worst part of this movie is how little Team Rocket is in it! They're the real stars of Pokemon, and when all they do is walk through a sewer and discover Mewtwo's lab and say a few lines and basically just ooh and aah at everything, a lot is taken away from the overall movie. It would have been a lot better if Jessie, James, and Meowth were in it more, and if the stupid battling wasn't so darn long. In the second movie, the plot is MUCH more exciting and Team Rocket has a big, important part! As for me, I'm still hoping they'll come out with a movie that revolves all around them (who wants Ash all the time? He's not so great! It's always Ash, Ash, Ash! Enough of him! What makes people think he's in love with Misty? That's crazy! There's no romance between them whatsoever! Misty just follows him 'cuz she still wants that bike! I can tell! "Misty's Song" is a joke! It's Jessie and James who are in love...hasn't anyone seen "Holy Matrimony"? Geeez!) Well anyway, the movie wasn't half as good as I'd expected, so if I were you I'd rent it before you buy it.

Summary: Great movie.
Review: It lacked the comedey of the sieries... but Team rocket wasn't beat. (5 star I LIKE team rocket) Pretty good effects and cool pokemon battles. I'm a true fan now. It's worth the money.

Summary: very harsh
Review: Okay firstthings first. They advertised that in the movie you would see all 150 pokemon Not true. And the stupid little movie at the begining pitiful. The movie seemed to be going on and on but not actually going any where. And at the end it to them so long to prove the very basic moral of the story. I have to admit i was abit surprised by the begining when mewtwo escapes that was the only part in the movie where something almost unpredictable hapended. Despite this movie earning 80 million amang the highest for cartoons the movie was HORRIBLE. Many pokemon fans where disapointed with the outcome of this movie.Just a cheap way for billion dollar companies to squeeze all the money they can out of hardworking people. The bottom line is don't even rent this movie.
