Rating: Summary: Cute.. Review: I bought this DVD for my niece who saw the American series and really fell in love with it. As she went on-line to learn more about the series, she saw that there were some edits and was dying to see the real series. As I sat down to watch with her, I became a little intrigued as well.Sakura is a cute series without going overboard. I expected something along the lines of "Sailor Moon" and was pleasantly surprised to find a good storyline, with refreshing and funny characters. The only part that was a little frustrating was the art itself, being a little on the basic side compared to some of the other series that I've seen. Other than that, this is a great series, and is a must for any child who enjoys Cardcaptor. P.S. - Don't let the purists drive you away from the American series, both are enjoyable in their own respects.
Rating: Summary: The Best!!! Rating: Summary: A charming anime series Review: I have been an anime fan for a year, and I have enjoyed several titles, like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ninja Scroll, Lain, Ghost in the Shell, Perfect Blue, Akira, Patlabor and Princess Mononoke, but this one is different from they above. It is not violent, scary, a thriller or dark. It is a light, silly and charming series. I never did like Sailor Moo, for the artwork in Sailor Moon is terrible and it is more repetive, but Card Captors, though is collecting cards, has a good story and beautiful animation.
Rating: Summary: a high water mark in term of production values Review: CCS has to have some of the smartest designs of it's time--the characters, the music, the animation, it's all incredibly well done and fashionable. You won't think of the fact that it barely has a shred of originality as far as story goes, at least in the few eps I've seen, because the production is just so well done. Maybe it changes when the cast is rounded out, but it's quite like Sailor Moon early on. The cast is a little younger so some of the deeper character drama of Sailor Moon doesn't seem to be there. That sounds like a loss but then again the Sakura is such an adorable girl that she's just as fun to watch as Usagi. It sometimes seems like a Little Miss Beauty Pagent with all the costumes and cute girls prancing around, but if it were Sakura would take home the top prize. I can't imagine spendng a fortune on the entire series just to see all of Sakura's new clothes, though... Hopefully the the series picks up speed without losing its carefree nature. It's too bad they couldn't have dubbed an uncut version like Gundam Wing, because I caught this show in its dubbed form and I enjoyed it, though I know now they really did a number on the episode order and all that... I really thought those days were behind us with Toonami and DVD...
Rating: Summary: The uncut version is should be rated G Review: The edited and unedited version are pretty good. I've bought one the other day and saw Clow Volume 1. It is pretty good and 50% better than the WB version for one reason the story is complete. It's got no offensive material.CardCaptor Sakura should be rated G. It's appropriate for young and young at heart alike. There is no same sex crushes like indicated on a anime website. If there is you'll hardly notice it.With this show same sex crushes are not shoved in your face. You make the assumption of what's happening between the characters. It's not forced upon you like it is in Sailor Moon. It's ment for everyone to enjoy. It's got a few cultural differences. CardCaptors is the shortened TV version. The Fanatics exaggerate. They have no lives. Enjoy both versions. Even though this version is slightly better.
Rating: Summary: Cute Japanese Cartoons! I don't call it anime ever! Review: A cartoon is a cartoon ! I've never spoken truer words. Japanese cartoons have creative stories. CardCaptor or CardCaptor Sakura is a cartoon. Geez all I can say is this stupid Sub and Dub war is annoying. Ignore the anime veterans and decide which version you like for yourself. The way they whine and nit pick will sooner or later turn me into a full fledged anime hater.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious! Review: I had seen an episode of this series while I was in Japan but, not speaking the language, I didn't have any idea of its name, or even what was really going on. When my twelve year old brought this DVD home from the mall, the two of us sat down to watch. What a hoot! Sakura unwittingly unleashes powerful and magical cards when she breaks the seal on a book she discovers in her basement. She also awakens Kero, who fell asleep on the job of guarding the Clow Cards, and who makes Sakura into a Cardcaptor to save the world from their destructive powers. Kero, who calls himself a guardian beast, is anything but beastly; he's cute, small, and often described (as an insult) as a plush toy. He is as hapless as 10 year old Sakura. The funniest part of this (for me) is the costumes Sakura's friend insists on designing for the captor battles - and the fashion commentary Kero provides at the end of each episode. But the humor does not end there. My daughter and I laughed throughout these episodes at the small moments of comedy interpersed with battles reminiscent of both Sailor Moon and (to a lesser degree) Pokemon. In my opinion, the humor sets this series apart from others imported from Japan. Although I can't comment on the translation of the subtitles, I was a little put off by the Americanisms at first. The decision must have been made to make Sakura sound like a school girl in any language. As always, I much preferred the subtitled track to the English language. I recommend this series for all ages. Young children will love cute Kero while older children, especially girls who like Sailor Moon, will appreciate the concerns of Sakura. As for adults, indulge!
Rating: Summary: Kawaii! Review: I love this dvd so much, I've been watching it continously since I bought it. It is a great buy. I highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Very Appealing Anime Review: I'm a avid anime viewer but I prefer Shoujo anime. This is pretty cute even though it's not Sailor Moon. But I'd give it 5 stars and all my support! Many good shows are disappearing from TV better purchase DVDs while in stock!
