Summary: Worth Watching
Review: The animation is Beautiful! Very nice mixing of CGI and traditional animation. The blending is very smooth.

I take away one star for the following reasons: I applaud the attempt to mix an English and Japanese dialogue in the film, but the English script and voice acting is very stilted and jarring. It's not the worst I heard, though, so it is possible to sit through the dub. There isn't too much to the story anyway. Which leads to my other complaint. The movie seems like it left a lot unexplained. I can't stand it when a film spells everything out for the viewer, but Blood would have been helped greatly by some addition information on the characters and demons.

My final complaint is that the movie is too short. I guess that is a sign of a good film, because I want to see more. Not a great film, though, because is doesn't leave me satisfied.

All in all, I still give this (short) movie 4 out of 5, and would recommend it to fans of Ninja Scroll and Vampire Princess Miyu. Good action, nice gore, and fantastic animation.

Summary: "What the..? Is there a second episode to this?"
Review: Something I have learned from watching movies, anime, and playing video games all my life is that if the graphics/art are "groundbreaking", then the plot is most likely the complete opposite. Blood: The Last Vampire prooves it.

I'll start with the good. The art and CG graphics are very fluid, mixed well together, and the colors set the mood for the movie perfectly. The character designs are also perfect for the movie's setting, but they seem somewhat messy in a few cases. For instance, sometimes it seemed like the characters were missing a lip. The action is fluid and fast, and there's also quite a bit of blood, which is a good in my book.

As for the bad, plot and character developement fall into this category. I still have trouble understanding the plot even after watching it a few times. I had to read the back of the box to understand it better, when it really should have been explained more in the video. Also, the movie seems to stop just as the action is getting good. At first I thought there must be a second episode to this because it didnt seem like it should end yet.

Frankly, The charcter developement was pathetic. You never learn the reasons to why the characters are doing what they do in the movie (sorry for the vagueness, trying not to let out any spoilers), or their past. All their personalities are is dark and set-to-kill.

Lastly, the music is dark and fitting, but nothing memorable. though, there are some nice orchestra pieces here and there.

Summary: Pretty good but could be better
Review: There's no doubt about it Blood: The Last Vampire has incredible animation! The story line is good "a true blooded vampire girl must stop vampires from running a rampage on a military base." The only problem is...that's all it has. I was kinda disappointed that the actual movie was 45 mins long (give or take a few mins). Saya (the hero) doesn't develope at all during this brief movie. No insight about her or her pass is given and that leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Like; how did she gain an interest in hunting vampires? How did see meet this government agent she works for? You get the idea. The action scenes were awesome but I wish there was more. I mean there were only 3 vampires that she had to kill. I know she's the last vampire and all but come on make her fight for the title. Have a battle royal or something! As you can see the fight scenes leave you wanting more and more.

Don't get me wrong I liked the movie. The opening had me sitting on the edge of my seat. The music really adds that extra touch to the anime that makes it just right. Although it's dubbed there are still some subtitles to read. For example the train directors voice over the radio and most of the dialogue between Saya and the nurse are also subtitled.

Overall Blood is a pretty good movie. I felt that they could have done a lot better if it was longer and they took time to give us some background info on Saya up to the present. My advice to you is rent it first and decide for yourself.

Summary: Visually Stunning!
Review: There has been a lot of hype about this anime. How awesome the animation is to the cool character designs and much more.

Of course, I don't always buy into hype nor am I into anime that is all about killing with a boring storyline.

Well, when I received my review copy of "Blood the Last Vampire" and watched it from beginning to end, I have the following to say about this anime.

"Blood the Last Vampire" is visually stunning and the storyline makes you crave for more.

First, let's talk about the animation. Combined with a pretty cool musical score and a character that is so unique compared to another anime character (and design), the production went all out by enlisting a pretty good staff to create an atmosphere where lighting and visuals are important to the storyline.

Before I thought "Blue Submarine" and "Spriggan" were visually stunning but "Blood the Vampire" is definitely at the top.

As for the storyline, without revealing too much. The anime features a girl (or young woman) named Saya. Her job is to eliminate demons/vampires who survive off of human blood. No, this is no "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". There is no humor and Saya can be described as a cold, focused mercenary. People expecting a "Buffy" type storyline may be dissapointed because this is about the hunter and the hunted. Also, the storyline lasts for around 45 minutes. The run time on the DVD box includes "The Making of Blood" which is a fascinating look at how the anime was made.

So, we have great visuals. Now, the audio. Manga Entertainment included a 2.0 and 5.1 selection for audio and the 5.1 doesn't dissapoint.

As for special features, "The Making of Blood" goes into the creation of this anime and it's pretty thorough compared to other anime "making of's". There is also an image gallery and the typical trailers from the company.

All in all this anime is not for the faint. It's bloody and violent. But as an anime, "Blood the Last Vampire" can be summed up in one word..."Awesome!" I'm very content with this anime and I hope a series develops from it.

Summary: BEST EVER SERIOUS ANIME
Review: From The makers of Ghost in The Shell Comes BLOOD THE LAST VAMPIRE
I have seen hundreds of Manga/Animes but this one is definitely at the top of the list because of its amazing animation. It may not have such an amazing story as Perfect Blue for example... But it does have its moments. The animation is very similar to that of ghost in the shell but in a much better and advanced way with CGI effects. IF YOU ARE AN ANIME FAN YOU MUST BUY THIS OR ELSE YOU ARE JUST SCUM.

Summary: Good Anime, but worth the money? Well...............
Review: One of the reasons I buy anime so rarely on DVD is the cost. When I look at an anime DVD I check to see how long it is, this one said 87 (or so) minutes. Not bad......so I bought it and after 30 min or so (I really liked it and I was waiting for part two to start) it was over. What? The companies that produce the DVD's must know that there are people out there like me who want a good time to dollar ratio so they include the special features in the running time.....clever. But now I rent 'em before I buy 'em. This was a good flick, don't get me wrong, but I wanted to get a little more story for my cash. I was expecting the length of Vampire Hunter D, not Dragon Ball Z.

Summary: This is How Anime Should Be Done!
Review: This is a beautiful anime, with remarkably detailed CGI and cell animation blends, with clean art and stylish action sequences. The voice acting is incredible, too. Unlike most anime, where you have the option of watching either subtitled or dubbed, instead, the director went for realism, and hired English speaking actors to play the parts of American characters, and bilingual actors for the title character and a school-teacher. The result is very smooth and easy to follow. The mini-cd featuring the music video by the Mad Capsule Markets is also a nice touch, though not something to use unless you have a tray loading DVD player. The only real drawback is that Blood-The Last Vampire is not a complete story. There is no neat ending here. It feels like a pilot to a t.v. series with more to come, but sadly, there is no more. If there were, though, I'd gladly watch it.

Summary: It was good...
Review: This is not a movie for you little DBZ and Sailor Moon lovers...this is for the real anime fan. It has action...blood...and a little bad language in it.
Its not a good plot,AT ALL, the main character Saya is a demon hunter NOT a vampire hunter! And you know how those anime movies that just warm your hearts, where the disturbed main character warms up to one other person or falls in loooooooove with somebody....well this is not one of those stories. The story has NO meaning to it. THE MOVIE: HURT,KILL,DIE...well that sums the movie up...three simple words. Its nothing but KILLING... no emotions, no laughter...just BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD.
This movie needs to be rated R, for the nudity, nasty language, and violence.

Summary: short, sweet and to the point
Review: A lot of people have complained that this movie is too short. I'll admit, that if I had sat down and expected a full length animated feature, I might have been disappointed too. After all we only get half a feature. However, once you have been warned, that it's only gonna be 45 minutes, Blood can be thoroughly enjoyed on many levels. The animation is of course out of this world. The universe and moods they have created with their use of colour is astounding and this is one of the few cartoons you can watch at night and really feel the hairs at the back of your neck stand on end. It's quite spooky. But it's also very well-written and worth watching many times (I've seen it 10 times since I got it, and I'm not tired of it yet). I don't think that it's length is a bad thing at all, since we're left with a bunch of unanswered questions in the end anyway. Had the movie been longer, I for one might have been annoyed that we don't get more answers, but because it's a shorter film we are warned that what we get is a slice of this universe. Just a little taste of blood without knowing what came before or after. Plenty of room to play with the characters in the sequel. All in all I guess the film can be compaired to an episode of the X-files. A small part of a bigger hole. One tiny truth at a time. Only 10 times scarrier and 100 times more impressive!
