Rating: Summary: Neon Genesis Evangelion episodes 1-4 Review: when i first saw this anime it was in spanish because I want to peru, a year later and I finally have the first DVD. I swear from what I've seen so far this is one of the greatest stories ever told. At the end of the DVD I nearly cried and smiled at once. Shinji is probably the coolest main character I've ever seen. There has not been once when I thought "what was he thinking".But the main reason of that is because of the great storytelling that NGE holds. You might want to watch it more then once to understand what I mean, well that is if you can bear to stay away from it for mor that an hour. Yes its That good. I love the characters(all of them)so much I'll probably end up naming my kid Shinji.
Rating: Summary: Neon Genesis Evangelion Review: From the opinion of a fellow otkau, Neon Genesis is one of the best anime series of all time. If you have a DVD player, then treat yourself to the DVD version. Evangelion does not only have a lot of classic Anime-Type action, but also a lot of anime humor, and it is more fun to watch in both languages. Ja na. Anata Baka?!?!?

This DVD starts off the series, which may be a little unusual at first, but trust me you wil love this series after you've seen how good really is!!! I've seen the whole series and trust me it has to be one of the best out there!! So i would recommend this DVD and the whole collection for that matter cause trust me, it's well worth it!
Rating: Summary: A masterpiece... Review: Yes, Neon Genesis Evangelion is very important in the animation world. We can use Eva like a objet of comparison. Evangelion is really amazing, because: 1- Very (very) deph and complex storyline; 2- Great Image quality, and superb animation; 3- Excelent enviroment, and the most original mechas of all the anime world! This DVD is a good edition: 4 spoken lenguages, english subtitles, previews and a Bios area. However,Adv's dvd has a little image problem, but if you have a good TV you won't get any trouble. Since the Second DVD, ADV improve the image Quality very much, so you can buy it without any doubt!
Rating: Summary: Evangelion is worth a whole sky full of stars Review: There are so many things that could be said about Eva that it's almost as overwhelming as the show itself. Religious Symbolism -- got it Gender Issues -- got it Japanese Society -- got it Edge of your seat action -- got it over and over A really cool pengiun -- got it A totally great forget-me-not ending -- well . . . you won't forget It's not that the ending is BAD, it's just different. Up until episode 23 or so all the symbolism and issues, and what not are buried under robotic action. The first 20 episodes were simply outstanding, and after you finish episode 20 you will be so full of questions that you'll pop in the next DVD and go all out. The probem comes when none of you questions are answered, you only come out with more. The beauty and saving grace is that all the answers are there . . . somewhere. Buy it, enjoy it, and DON'T WATCH IT IN ENGLISH!!! The english dubbing is horrid, but thankfully they put the Japanese on there too along with good subtitles. Also keep in mind that the word used to describe the bad guys in Japanese is translated as Angel, but also means deciple. . . you know john, paul, peter and ringo(or is it Mathew mark luke and john) and that much of it comes from the gospels. HAve fun, it WILL exceed ALL expectations
Rating: Summary: WOW! Miniskirts, Hentai, and Robot on Robot action! Review: Man, this series is awesome! It's about this smoothtalkin suave dude named Shinji, whos always gettin play from da ladies! The moment he hits on this 20 year old chick named Misato, everything heats up! I love this series because it's total lack of depth, and random violence and sexual content! Asuka is this 14 year old german schoolgirl (...) whos always jumpin on shinji's (...)! The third and fifth child take a bath together man! And this Kaji dude gets in on the action too! Its a giant anime 0rgy!
Rating: Summary: A fun ride Review: From the first episode I was left wanting more... and more... and more. Not many extras, and some overlays.. this is definitely a good show, worth the money. Apparently this has been remastered and has had the issues fixed. What you expect to be a giant fighting robot anime turns into so much more, and ends up being about relationships and the human condition.
Rating: Summary: It's So Good! Review: Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of the best anime's I have ever seen. At first I thought it would be just another 'mecha' anime like Gundam Wing where a lot of focus is put on battles, but that is definitely not the case. Each time I finished watching one of these DVD's it left me wanting to see more, with each one leading you deeper into the story, making you think about why the characters are the way they are. The animation is excellent and the music compliments each scene beautifully, the opening theme will have you singing along. The extras are just really the "character bios" which can give you some background knowledge on the characters. There is also the original Japanese soundtrack and English subs but I recommend watching it dubbed as sometimes there is a lot happening in a scene and you'll be too busy concentrating on the subtitles rather than what's going on. Probably what I liked most about NGE is that the whole of the story isn't force fed to you right at the beginning but is spread out over the 26 episodes. This Series deserves all the praise it gets and I recommend it to anyone, anime fan or not.
Rating: Summary: The beginnings of a strange trip through space and time... Review: Evangelion: It's certainly one of the most popular anime series in the United States and in its homeland of Japan. The story of a young boy who must face serious personal problems while dealing with his unstable soul while piloting a giant robot called an Evangelion against twisted and mutated Angels which have come to announce judgement on mankind is certainly a new, fresh re-take on the generally bland stories of mecha ( Giant Robot ) anime. However, in this DVD, the major characters, Shinji Ikari, Rei Ayanami and Misato Katsuragi ( Asuka Langley doesn't appear yet), personalities are revealed, and these personalities are the complete opposite of what you'd expect of heroes. They are weak, they are often sad and depressed and these are people who would not generally fit the roles of a hero. But these "antiheroes" in a sense, are part of what make Evangelion, along with its astounding mecha battles and soundtrack, a unique and popular anime series. Another thing that Evangelion does is try to explain the beginnings and spiritual origins of mankind. To me, this was also another interesting facet of this anime series but at the same time, in Japan, this is what made it so controversial. There's violence, there's hinted sexual innuendo, but all in all, this trip to the origins of mankind, combined with the unstable personalities of the Evangelion characters, holds you to the edge of your seat as you witness different personalities eventually come to terms with mankind's final judgement. Now, in terms of this DVD, the design and packaging is fine, and the interface is somewhat confusing to navigate since it takes the interface of a futuristic computer. There are not many extras, the only being brief character profiles and trailers, but that doesn't really take away from the glory of Evangelion. You may buy the DVD for the features, but for me, I bought it for the experience. And what an experience it is.
