Rating: Summary: Do not buy this tape Review: If you appreciate DBZ for what it really is, then don't buy this tape. Buy the DVD instead. FUNimation has a terrible record for messing up the best scenes in DBZ, the very emotional ones (like the scene when Gohan goes SSJ2 for the first time. Ooooh, they are going to pay!) having a terrible musical score, bad voicing, and terrible lines. Fortunatly, most of those issues have been somewhat resolved for this. The voices have improved and there isn't as many crappy lines (but of course there had to be some crappy lines!), but it's still messed up. The original score isn't in it (Whoa, big surprise!) so were stuck with these bands I'm sure no ones ever heard of. This is the biggest problem. We have electric guitars screaming in the background during the fighting scenes and the emotional scenes in it. Also, rather than translated the freaking script they had to go out of their way and write a new one. Compare the Japanese to the English and you'll notice that not one line is the same! Then we have some misleading information in it. They altered the lines so it made it seem like 18 was going to spare the life of the guy at the clothing store. Yeah, right. They also make it seem like Trunks can't swim, which nothing like that is mentioned in the Japanese version. So, in conclusion, DO NOT BUY THIS TAPE. Buy the DVD and watch the Japanese version with subtitles.
Rating: Summary: ~Great Movie~ Review: I got this movie for Christmas and I LOVE it! If your a Trunks or Gohan fan you will love it to. This movie shows you what happen to the future Trunks before he came to the past to kill Freeza and King Cold, to give Gokuu his medicine, and tell the Z fighters that androids are going to come in three years. It starts off with Gokuu dying and then one by one the Z fighters dying from the androids. It has Blood and some bad words in it but its not that bad, Its mostly fighting.
Rating: Summary: Japanese version is better Review: I have seen both the American and Japanese versions of the "Trunk's Special" and I believe that changing the dialogue, action, and music should not be done. The rap music is definately out of place because no rap music was used in the original. The dialogue should be as close as possible to the original because it takes away from the original story, or it changes the characters slightly as I have noticed from other DBZ episodes. I am very grateful that Funimation was able to see the incredible potential in DBZ, and that they decided to dubb it for the American audience, but I believe that Funimation does not have a right to change the story or dialogue so much. ( "Hercule"??? Ewwwwwww, what an awful name) If you can get the japanese version, you will get a better show, but if you can't, you might as well buy this video.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous -- on it's own Review: I realize people are going to disagree with me, and I accept that -- everyone is entitled to his own opinion. But I feel it's a bad idea to constantly compare American dubbed anime to it's Japanese counterpart. The standard of excellence should be upheld, but we have to face the facts: cultural standards are different. Dialouge *will* change, scripts *will* sometimes not match the original. But unless that causes a major plot problem, it should not be held against the work. Personally, I believe "The History of Trunks", when held up to the original, is good, and when taken on it's own is fantastic. The voice acting in this one is far beyond the quality of the series (which is improving immensely on it's own accord), the script is good -- the exchanges between 17 and 18 are uproariously funny, typical teenage (android) siblings -- and believe it or not, the music is good. Dream Theater makes a nice contribution to the soundtrack, though some of the music seemed a bit out of place (was that *rap music* playing during the Trunks/Android fight?!?! And that "Theme song"...) However, on it's own, Funimation has done a good job with this, and I think they should be given due credit. A must have for any Trunks fans.
Rating: Summary: It tells of Trunks future. ( or is it his past?) Review: Well, this movie was really good, but UNCUT is much better because they actullay show them hit each other.
Rating: Summary: It was great! Review: This movie was incredible! I especially liked the part where Trunks goes Super Sayain for the first time. I have seen a lot of Dragonball Z, but this one is one of the best!
Rating: Summary: A DVD worth the purchase... Review: The movies is about the Future Trunks timeline as to what happened when Goku died prior to the Android invasion. The story is very post apocalyptic and leaves you feeling in a depressed state due to the overwhelming negative vibes. I loved it.
Rating: Summary: Just wait. Review: Just wait for the dvd of this title to come out. It will have subtitled japanese. If you can stand the horrible BGM and voice acting and the changed dialogue then buy it.
Rating: Summary: Story of Future Trunks Review: This movie was based around what happened in Trunk's timeline, or you could call it an alternate dimension in which the androids take over the world. It tells the story of what happens with Trunks before he time travels to the past world. It's a really good movie, and really sad. (I cried ^_^) Has some really good action scenes (IMHO), and shows the two androids acting derranged. Shows alot of Trunks, adult Gohan, and the androids so if you like them then buy the movie already!
Rating: Summary: It's a good tape for Trunks and Gohan fans indeed... Review: Well, going from Japanese DBZ to English was a big shock for me. I found I rather enjoyed this tape dispite the obvious differences. I know all Trunks fans will find this one an excellent spotlight for the "purple-haired wonder". Gohan fans may want to keep a tissue handy...
