Summary: More blood, more battles, and more surprises !
Review: Once again I stopped by at one of my favorite stores to find "Dragonball Z-The History of Trunks", and I thought my luck ran out when I didn't find any, until finally I went to the last store and I saw a DVD version of the movie. I didn't buy the VHS version, instead I bought the DVD version. It's way better ! And so is this movie. Although I did love the action in "Dragonball Z-Bardock, The Father of Goku", The History of Trunks is way better and more twisted. This movie is about a dark and twisted future with no hope of survival for humanity. Krillin, Yamcha, Chiaotzu, Tien, and Piccolo lost their lives against two killer Androids. Goku is dead in result of a heart virus. Only two fighters remain, a 13 year old boy named Trunks, and Gohan, the only son of Goku. These two young fighters are determined to put an end to these vicious monsters once and for all. But they didn't have enough power. Even Gohan, the only boy who surpasses his father's powers, was killed in battle with the Androids. Now it's up to Trunks to save the world by doing one thing...travel trough time ! His mission, to give Goku then antitdote, warn others about the Androids, and change the course of time ! Sounds intresting, huh ? Well it is ! This is one of the best DBZ movies that surpasses the action of the three early DBZ movies. To all DBZ fans, go get it ! It's definently worth it !

Summary: The Horrific Truth of Mirai Trunks, and I love it
Review: In my opoion, this is the best of all the DBZ specials. Both dubb and subb versions are great. In the begining Goku dies from the heart virus that Mirai(future) Trunks warns him about in the seris. Shortly six months later, on and Island nine miles south-west of South City, a horible duo launched an attack. As always the Z-Senshi (earth's specail forces, have to come and save the day, but not this time. Piccolo was the first to try, and the first to die. Vejita was next to fall. Then Yaumcha, and Tienshinhan. Even Kuririn was destroyed by this ruthless duo. Gohan is the only one to survive

The main plot starts 13 years after the Z-Senshi (earth's special forces), where killed. Juuhachi-Gou (android 18), and Juuana-Gou (android 17), are just two androids who hate the people of Chikyuu (earth), and take it upon themselves to kill everyone. Fighting against them is an adult Gohan, and his pupil 14 year old Trunks. While Gohan is training Trunks to become a Super Saiya-jin, Buruma(bulma) is making the infamous time machine.

Durring one particular training seson, Trunks qestioned Gohan why he couldn't become a Super Saiya-jin. Gohan responed saying that Trunks just didn't have the right insperation yet. Soon after Juuhachi-Gou and Juuanna-Gou launch another attack. Leaving Trunks behind, Gohan heads out to fight to the androids, and ends up losing his life. With the death of Gohan, Trunks is finally able to reach a Super Saiya-jin

Three years after Gohan's death, the two androids are still tearing up Chikyuu(earth). Soon after destroying yet another city, Trunks shows up and gets his butt kicked. Along with getting the stuffing beat out of him, Trunks nearly dies.

In the end Buruma(bulma) finishs building the time machine, and Trunks goes back into the past.

I really enjoyed this DBZ special. Although I think the main reason was, it included Juuhachi-Gou (android 18), one of my favorite DBZ onnas. I think that this addition to any DBZ collection will be well worth it

Summary: If you are a fan of DBZ, get a hold of this dvd if you can!
Review: This dvd is mainly for the widestream American fans of DBZ. If you watched the series,(like so many), on Cartoon Network, it left out alot of story. There is a huge mystery as to where exactly trunks came from, how bad it really was, and how devistating the androids really were. Believe me, any questions you may of had, are definetly answered here in this dvd.

The story starts off explaining the "real" story line to Dragon Ball Z, as to where Goku gets infected with a radical new strain of virus, which affects super saiyans. He passes away, and six months after that, the androids show up, and start destroying everything. Vegeta, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Chizazu, and Piccillo all fell to the androids awesome power. (excuse me if I misspelled any of their names) All that were left was Trunks, and Gohan. I don't want to give away any more, so just to sum it up (for those who actually saw the series), alot of fighting and battling, and then he decides to travel to the past to give Goku the antidote, and to warn him of the dangers to take place in 3 years from that point.

Watch the dvd, and really see something. I still like to watch it even though I have seen it a couple dozen times. The one last thing that you must know, is the two languages play a key role in this dvd. If you play the english edition, it is good enough to make you understand exactly what is going on, but if you REALLY would like to know the true story, watch it in its original japanese edition. There you will see a different story all together. :) thanks for listening(reading). ENJOY!!!

Summary: The second essential background DBZ disk
Review: Well, the REAL essential background of DBZ consists of the entirety of the original Dragon Ball series, but aside from that, one of the most critical turning points in DBZ is the beginning of the Android/Cell Game story arc, where a mysterious young man named "Trunks" shows up to warn the Z-warriors of an impending terrible threat to their world and to offer them a way to save Goku (who is currently missing).

This DVD tells us the story of Trunks' true origin -- child of Bulma and Vegita, raised in a darker version of Dragon World in which most of the Z-team were killed by a group of superpowered androids (jinzou ningen, "artificial humans") designed by Dr. Gear, formerly of the Red Ribbon organization (which was a close parallel to James Bond's SPECTRE). Red Ribbon had been destroyed by Son Goku when Goku was a boy, due to their killing one of Goku's friends; this had killed off Gear's research gravy train and Gear's been looking for revenge ever since. The only survivor of the original Z-warriors is a much bigger, tougher Son Gohan, who tries to train Trunks as a warrior too.

The two of them try to fight the androids (#17 and #18) but are simply unable to match them. In the end, it becomes clear that there is only one way to stop the eventual victory of the machines: go back in time, using a machine Bulma has designed, and prevent the death of Goku and his friends.

Toriyama's intentional riffs on Terminator and Alien show clearly in this background special, but it's no less effective for all of that. In a sense, Trunks' position is even more grim than that of Terminator's original hero: what he does WILL NOT CHANGE HIS FUTURE. All it will do is make possible that ANOTHER version of him will have a better future than he does. His actions are purely noble, to ensure that somehow, somewhere, there will be a better world, even if he and his mother will never see it.

Summary: I almost cried!
Review: This movie is so dramatic! All the Z fighters are killed by the androids except for Gohan and Trunks. Gohan dies later on and Trunks goes super sayian and still can't beat the androids! His power level as a young adult is 4,000,000 and he almost gets killed. The thing that pisses me off is that Gohan dies but it was cool when he had only arm. He had only one arm and he was still whupping on the androids! The movie is okay but I wouldn't reccomend buying it.

Summary: Well, Great but too Short
Review: Since ive seen all of DBZ anime,(which is a bit to long but still great!), i had to see this too.
Its very nice drawn, the best style of DBZ drawing. And the story is kindof sad, the most touching part i think is when Trunks finds Gohan dead.

However it was so short. the beginning was like fastforward. It showed in a few frames how all the Z fighters got killed by the androids. And its great jumps between the years also.

I think its best if u see the DBZ android saga first, but if ure a DBZ fan then this is for u anyway.

Summary: a 'BRIEF' history of Trunks
Review: As light entertainment goes, I think Dragon Ball Z is hard to top for its mixture or action, drama and story. The series though is, in my humble opinion, far better than the movie offshoots. While 'The History Of Trunks' is enjoyable, its just far to short. 'Dragon Ball Z' develops the characters in such depth you gain a real appreciation of their complexity.

This concept would have worked far better as a series. Going into the death of Goku and the battles with the androids, but in detail. Everything here is only passed over quickly, when really it warrants attention. We gain some insight into Trunks, and the 'alternate' Gohan, but not anything that we didn't already really have from the series.

Thats another point, there are differences in details in this to the series. Not really important, but its really really annoying sometimes. Just random things like that detract from this DVD. On whole its kind of fun to watch, but the series is a better way to pass the time.
