Summary: This movie is in the Rookie stage and needs to Digivolve...
Review: The first time I watched the movie, I said, "huh?" when it was all over. It seemed like the American version of this movie crudely slapped snips of 3 of the Japanese movies together. Why can't the American version ever get it right? Ugh. Well, I would still LOVE to watch the subtitled version of the movies in the original Japanese language. The American version of the movie just seemed very disconnected when they would jump around in time and just slap simple, 2 sentence explainations for whatever had happened into the script. And what exactly happened to Kari and TK on the train? No explaination for what was happening to them was ever given. A lot of the plot (which seems to spew in all different directions) is unaccounted for or inadequately explained. It seems that Digimon: The Movie just took every possible fight scene from all 3 of the origial Japanese movies and haphazardly slapped them all together without relaying any of the character development that should have accompanied the fight scene. After a while it just made my head hurt, and I kept glancing at my watch and wondering how much longer the movie was going to last. My sisters are still asking me questions that I really have to labor to answer about the movie because it was indeed confusing. It took me 2 or 3 times viewing it and some internet research to finally come to some conjectures about what was cut out and what they were meaning to say. Very poorly done. This is just like what happened to Sailor Moon in the U.S. The people who owned the rights to it were sitting on a gold mine, and they blew it completely with bad scripting, cutting things out, changing the plot, and dumbing it down. Leave them as 3 seperate movies...it's not all that hard because that's the way it was originally done.

The animation is another can of worms completley. The company who animated the TV series should also animate the movie. Having the look of the characters change in the movie was a little disturbing and made watching it just "that much" more painful. I like the big hands and feet and the big eyes. But the people who did the animation for this movie obviously wanted the complete opposite. It's just a little distracting to see all the characters drawn one way for 2 seasons and then quite differently for the official movie.

To make a long story short: stick with the original animators, give a little bit more to character/ storyline devlopment, and leave the movie as three seperate movies. The only reason I'm even rating this movie in the positive is that it has to deal with Digimon: Digital Monsters. Otherwise, it really made me mad and regretful that I had paid [...] to rent it from the video store.

I give this wretchedly done movie 1.4 - 2 stars.

Summary: awsome
Review: This has to be the one that sits in your movie case next to pokemon 1 and 2. I try to watch a least once a month (trust me you will) it has everyone's favorite digimon in it. Well it's the perfect animation movie.

Summary: A Digiworld for everyone
Review: I really Like DVDs, but this one takes the cake. I liked the DigiBloopers part in the movie and the soundtrack as well, too bad no one has ever heared of the singers. It's a step up for Anime painting in this movie + the storyline gets thicker and thicker

Summary: DigiStarZ!
Review: This is the Digimon movie. It is cool. 'Nuff said! But seriously, this movie is great! It's split into 3 parts. The first part describes what happened that fateful night in Highton View Terrace... Tai and Kari get a digi-egg which digivolves into Greymon. Greymon fights Parrotmon and destroys the bridge. After the battle, they disappear. All the kids who saw it became the digidestined... The second part takes place a year after the first series. It's summer holidays, and Izzy finds a digi-egg on the Internet that's been attacked by a virus. Him, Tai, Matt and TK send in their digimon to fight this evil virus digimon. When the evil digimon is in its mega form - Diaboromon - Gabumon and Agumon warp-digivolve to MetalGarurumon and WarGreymon. They aren't strong enough though, so they DNA digivolve, together, into Omnimon and 'SQUASH THAT BUG!' The third part involves 3 new digidestined - Davis, who also saw the Highton View Terrace battle, Cody, who was brought before Myotismon in series one, and Yolei, who saw the Internet battle. They travel to USA and find a kid called Willis. He grew up with 2 digimon and no friends. One of his digimon turned evil when it was attacked by the remnants of Diaboromon's virus. Davis and Willis' digimon - Veemon and Terriermon - golden-armour digivolve to destroy Kokomon. When Willis is walking home, he finds a digi-egg - Kokomon...

Summary: Plot Holes
Review: Here's the movie in a nutshell:

Part 1: Tai and Kari get a digiegg and raise it to Greymon to help fight Parrotmon. This is where the digidestined see the digimon

Part 2: A virus digimon attacks the internet. When Izzy finds out and makes the distress call, on Tai, matt and TK reply. The virus breaks into the US military misiles and fires them in Japan. They've got 10 minutes to destroy the virus!

Part 3: The new digidestined in season 2 have to get rid of the virus in Willis's twin digimon Kokmon

I give it 4/5 stars because it has cool sound effects and good special effects. Especially when the digimon digivolve. But a lot was cut out from the orgignal. Also there were a lot of "holes" in it

Summary: It was ok
Review: It was ok, though was kind of confusing keeping track of the timeline, and it was made before the end of the second season since they didn't really mention, even though it was done in the second part with the dna digivolving. It was a good story though, and does beat out that other show.

Summary: Fun but a mish-mash
Review: Okay, so don't get me wrong. I like the movie, it was really fun, and I've passed it around to other people. Wonderful animation, action, etc. However, I would like to note that it is not a movie.

It feels like three OAV's, maybe. That explains the different styles of animation for each story (for the third story, they seem to have gotten more money, because it was film quality), and the different story lines. The thing that really bothered me was the naration over the story who's sole intent seemed on bringing the 3 episodes together by talking about characters nowhere in sight, and some asides tossed into the dialog. I assume fox did this so it could be released on the screen. I know the Japanese production company that did Digimon, and they like classical storylines.

So, yes, it was fun, but I suspect I might appreciate the original one better, and not have some imaginary thread tie them together.

Summary: 3 Movies For The Price of 1
Review: I knew before I saw this film that it was hashed together from the 3 Japanese Digimon movies. I also knew that several important scenes from the originals had been left out, and that quite a lot of the dialog had been changed. I even knew about the questionable music selected for the film...

Yet I still bought this DVD, and have watched it again and again. Despite the producers' best efforts to totally americanise this film, they have not quite succeeded in removing all of the original story line that the Japanese storywriters intended to be shown. This is certainly a good thing - too much Americanisation of Anime is never good, and this film came close to taking it one step too far. However, Digimon's debut on the big screen in the US (and the UK) has been a big success. They may sound a little weird, but the Digimon and their partners all have distinct personalities and this makes them fun to relate with as the movie progresses. You get used to the poor jokes after a while...

The film is split into 3 parts - firstly a 'How It All Began' 20 minute intro, about how the DigiDestined were chosen, followed by the main story, which is about a Digimon who becomes infected with a virus, and tries to take over the Internet and thusly most of the world. Tai and the others destroy the infected Digimon and the virus, but in the third and final part of the film we find that the virus has infected another Digimon, who is stalking one of the DigiDestined in the USA. By now, Davis and the new DigiDestined are on the scene, and the 3rd part focuses on the defeating of the virus, and the rebirth of the infected Digimon, much to the relief of Willis, the infected Digimon's partner.

I'm not going to talk about the music, apart from one comment: in comparison to the Japanese score, the techno junk that this film had was almost insulting, and completely inappropriate at times.

Overall, the movie is a collection of slapstick comedy, a bit of fighting, and a deeper look into the characters that we met in the first two Digimon TV series'. The original Japanese message of friendship and strength is not lost, and this film is great for those who are perhaps not keen followers of the TV series as much as it is for those Digi-obsessed kids out there.

Summary: Great!!
Review: This movie is great!! I don't care what others say, I really like it, The first part when it was 8 years ago, I thought it was a trifle weird, but it was cool. I liked the second story best since it was cool when Metalgarurumon and Wargreymon digivolved together into Omnimon (or Omegemon, call it what you like). The third part was also really cool when Patamon and Gatomon Warp-digivolved into Seraphimon and Magnadramon. Anyways, I think this movie is great, especially for digifans like me ^_^ It' great!!

Summary: This movie [is bad]
Review: This movie is so [bad]. Very bad animation for an anime movie. The digivolving is [not so good] cause it wastes time when digimon are digivolving and after the battle they just turn into ... baby digimon. The pokemon evolution is very correct since they don't ... de-evolve. When there is sad parts in the movie the digidestined act all emotional and start crying in not sad parts. It justs makes me crack up when they cry in the ... sad parts. this is like a [poor] copy of the Pokemon movies that failed. It's a total waste of time seeing this movie. I TOTALLY DESPISE DIGIMON!
