Rating: Summary: Good Review: Ten years after the end of Dragonball Z, Goku gets turned into a child again by a wish Pilaf made. The only way Goku can get back in his normal state is by finding the Black Star Dragonballs scattered across space. This is a must for all Dragon Ball Fans.
Rating: Summary: hmmm, why bother Review: there doesn't seem to be a point to dragonball gt, it's just prolonging the fact that goku leaves us, whooppsss spoiler, lol.no seriously the gt episodes are good and if you have the money there good to buy, but if you don't download them watch them and deleat them, so it legal, lol. i've watched up to 55 and never bought one, and i feel good for it, this probably didn't help, but what do americans know about anime, though the dubed eps sound better you lose the roughness of dragonball. well see ya.
Rating: Summary: DVD:DragonBall GT:Affliction Review: This is a nice start to the DragonBall GT DVD Collection. The first episode "A Grand Problem" is made specially as an opening episode for now.Funimation wanted to get into the Baby Saga first because it has more action in it than the previous GT episodes, so they provided this episode to give us a breif view of what had happened in the previous Saga, not giving away any battles and adversaries that Goku,Pan and Trunks had met. This also makes the "last time on DragonBall Gt" sequence of the next episode "Pans Gambit" a little different to the original. But after that it continues like the original Japenese release. Personally I think Funimation has done a great job.The picture quality is far superior to the Ocean Group episodes on CNX, as is the music. You can view the original japenese episodes on it too!And to top it off it even has a few features on it.This is so cool,my brother is buying DragonBall GT:Incubation!!Can't wait!!!
Rating: Summary: Choppy but gets the job done. Review: This may not be what most thought it would be and granted they did butcher it a bit. But look at it this way it is a Dragon ball z type of series. Also the original did not do so well. People hated it in Japan, so they just tried to revamp it, Corporate America give some lee-way. For those who may be concerned though it does still have good fights in it. I heard funimation did say that they would also come out with the originals. But if you are looking for some good old fighting then I would say buy it.
Rating: Summary: It was Alright... Review: Well I bought this movie yesterday and i was a little bit dissapointed. The big dissapointment was how funimation skipped the first 15 episodes starting at a warped episode 16 which has flash backs of the first few episodes. The Japanese version starts in the middle of the show(Episode 17) acting like funimation never butchered the first 15. Oh well, the story is alright, the fight scenes are okay, and i kinda see why funimation took off the first 15 episodes(They wanted to get right into the good part of the baby saga and skip the 15 episodes of black star dragonball hunting. Even though they cut the 15 episodes i give it 3 stars.
Rating: Summary: DBGT Review: Well I got this disc yesterday, & I must say I have seen all the japenese episodes, I never really got in to the show till later on. I think funimation made a good choice going straight to the Baby saga, I know they plan to release the earlier eps later on but for now, i am happy with these ones as the series really only get's better from here on. Hopefully next up we will see the Super Android 17 Saga :).
Rating: Summary: Funimtion is pulling a pioneer Review: When pioneer first released Dragon Ball Z in America there were a number of episodes cut out of it. As I recall there were at least 15 episodes. Then funimation came along and although edited some content (yet still available unedited) they faithful translated each episode to the fullest. Then they announced the Release of Dragon ball GT. But what did they did, they cut out the first 1/3 of the series. Let me explain. In Dragon Ball GT it starts off with Emporer Pillaf returning to try and conquer the world with the Dragon balls. He uses the Dark Star Balls that Piccolo created before he and Kami split. These balls are stronger but have a negative consequence. In one years time the planet the wish was made on explodes. Any ways Pillaf screws up and accidently wishes Goku back to a child. As a result Goku, Trunks and stow away pan search the galaxy for the Dark Star Balls. On the first episode they do this great big flash back of what happened in the very first episode. In fact the series starts off with them already having 3 of the Dark Star balls and into the Baby Saga. Here is where they screwed up. Right off the bat they cut out the first 1/3 of the series because of fear that the comedy will turn of Z fans (which as far as I know are also fans of Dragon ball which is more comedy). By doing this I as well as anyone who did not watch the Japanese translations will be confused. This would be something Pioneer did at the beggining of Z. However Funimation did do some good things. Despite the first episode being absolute confusing garbage the series picks up on the MEtal Mutant Planet. Goku and Trunks are captured and it's up to Pan to rescue them. After she rescues them Goku faces off against the Sigma force (think Ginyu Force with RObots) and then Genral Rildu. Another good thing (for those who watch the english translated episodes) is that the voices are the same as they were in Dragon Ball and Dragon ball Z, so fans will not have to deal with new voice actors (as the japenese had to as I recall). Also the action is as good (and drawn out) as in Z so on that respect fans should enjoy. I just wish Funimation did not cut out the first 1/3 out of paranoia. Maybe they will reconsider and release it like they did the cell saga later on. maybe.
Rating: Summary: Hey funimation... you missed a spot.... Review: Wow, Funimation doesn't care about the audience's pleasure at all. "What do little boys like, hmmmmmm......" Funimation decided that they were losing their audiences(mostly because they played dragonball z for years and showed thousands of repeats), so funimation decided they would target the younger audience. Instead of respecting the current dbz fans and giving them the show, they decided to cut out the first 16 or so episodes. Not only do we lose part of the series, but they show one episode to recap this. What can we diverge from this information? Funimation knew they missed 16 episodes. The series is basically boring now. DBZ didn't end. They should of just ended it while they were ahead. Instead, the fights started becoming, "Hey, lets play around with our opponent for 3 days until he figures out a way to beat us!" Vegetto spent a good 5 episodes playing around with majin buu before he contemplated actually killing him. Now for the older audience, you probably understand this. But the younger audience won't. DBZ's voice actors have been changed quite a bit in america. The DBGT voices are terrible! I loved the dbz voices, but these voices are different. Pans sounds like a 4 year old girl. She sounds like Goku in japanese(Goku's voice actor is actually a girl there). Its annoying and squeaky. I don't got a problem with little girls, but I don't want to watch a 60 episode series with a 16 year old having a 4 year old voice. Its almost as if the director of audio decided to give his daughter a shot at the big time, and lets her keep doing it to make her happy. Trunks is different. Trunks is tolerable, not enjoyable. Goku is somewaht okay. This is like his 3rd child voice actor. Anyways, the series is butchered. Funimation obviously doesn't care about the series, they care about money. If they cared about dragonball at all they would show all the episodes uncut(not necessarly in japanese because kids are still learning how to read things). The only good thing is the action, but even that is a little too frequent now.
Rating: Summary: WHAT HAPPENED, WHAT HAPPENED?!? Review: You have to be kidding me right? I purchase the dvd's in hope Of seeing the 1st episodes of DGT, I have seen most of the Japanese bootlegs tapes in the past, but the series I had watched started about 13 episodes into the series, so when I heard [name] was releasing the US versions I was EXCITED! I would finally see the 1st episodes of DGT and in english to boot. but to my dismay this series did not start in the beginning, it seems to have started about episode 17 that ...! Why would [name] do that I ask? Why would they cut the heart out of the series and leave the ... for us to watch. It looks like they tried to sum up the 1st episodes as a introductory bonus on the DVD, you can tell it's not an actual episode of DGT because there is not a Japanese version just English, WHAT A SHAME FOR ALL THE PEOPLE VIEWING DGT FOR THE 1ST TIME, I hope [name] will fix this and release the 1st actual episodes. after all the dvd's i have purchased in the past from funimations this is the 1st time i am disappointed, please lets fix it not for me for the children, Okay then fix it for ME ME ME!!!!!!
