Familiar and unfamiliar foes come to the fore as a new season of Rumiko Takahashi's "feudal fairy tale" begins. The eccentric Totosai, who forged the sword Tetsusaiga from a demon's fang, challenges Inu-Yasha to master its secret power: the Wind Scar that enables the bearer draw on vortices of demon-energy. Totosai also created an equally powerful sword for Inu-Yasha's brother Sesshomaru: the Tenseiga, a sword that heals--a typically imaginative Takahashi juxtaposition. Before Inu-Yasha can resolve his conflict with Sesshomaru, he must face Koga, the leader of a tribe of wolf-demons who kidnaps Kagome. To rescue her, the cast joins the battle between the wolf-demons and the harpy-like birds of paradise. After the intense adventures of the previous episodes, director Masashi Ikeda slows the pace a little, and mixes more humor into the quest for the Sacred Jewel fragments.
