Ranma 1/2 - The Movie 1, Big Trouble in Nekonron China

Summary: A bit of a disappointment for the Ranma 1/2 series:
Review: Again we find ourselves in the situation where a sequel is much better than its predecessor. I happen to own this video and it tends to collect a lot of dust sitting next to its more viewed Ranma 1/2 neighbors on my entertainment shelf. This movie seemed to be just a vehicle to inlcude as many Ranma 1/2 characters from the series as possible (watch the opening chase scene to view quite a few cameos). Unfortunately, it just never moves past the "Ranma and his Friends Back Together Again" genre. Another thing which is a bit stale is the rice and pickles jokes through most of the movie. Okay, I get it. I've eaten rice and Japanese pickled vegetables; it does get old after awhile. Don't get me wrong, "Big Trouble" is a competent attempt (why else would I have given it three stars) and there are some spectacular animations as well as larger than life fight scenes (but then again, isn't that the hallmark of most Ranma 1/2 climaxes). Nontheless, the animation in "Big Trouble" is improved for the movie release format, but I just found myself rather disappointed, especially after watching Ranma the Movie II (Nihao My Concubine) and the other OAVs available. In my opinion, Ranma the movie Part II has much more character development, is funnier, and has better animation than the "Big Trouble" offering. In short, save your money and get Nihao my Concubine instead (very little if no dust on top of that particular video). NOTE: This movie has nothing to do with the John Carpenter movie starring Kurt Russel.

Review: This film has been compared many times to The Ewok Adventure cartoons, but if carefully viewed it truly has a magical style all it's own! It teaches us that it's okay to have fun, even if you only have one leg. However the scenes involving the donkeys made me feel very uncomfortable.

Review: This movie had so many terrfic and memorable moments, like the UNWORLDlY fight scene between Naku and Zen! This movie was pure pleasure, except for the ungodly scenes with the donkeys which were completely unnecessary. However with a great score with such reputable and WONDERFUL bands such as coal chamber and powerman 5000 this will be one dvd that you'll be sure to watch over and OVER again!

Review: Ranma1/2 is witty and funny. with adventure and excitement. as Ranma and the gang go to save Akane (Ranma's Fiance) from the clutches of the seven lucky martial artists. they encounter a new character named Lychee, who brings a scroll, looking for her prince and happy.. the prince shows up, but takes akane instead of lychee. so the gang setd out to nekonron china to save akane, and get back the sacred scroll to preserve world peice.

Review: wow,I saw it many times and it's still an excellent anime.After I watched,I wonder why Akane didn't want the "pickles" prince.The six guards are morons.hehehehe....I watched in English subtitled VHS.
