Summary: A deceptively simple anime, that will draw you in.
Review: Based on the highly popular manga (which still continues in Japan), Fruits Basket at first glance would appear to just be another shoujo (girls') anime. However, don't be misled by the pure, simple art or the episode summaries - this is an anime about how one girl's kindness and hope brings healing to a family that is isolated because of a long-standing curse upon them. Honestly, I bought the first volume on a lark. But I was drawn in by the beauty of the characters and their interactions with one another. It's a sincere, funny anime that deftly balances angst with hope. I immediately went back out and bought the next two volumes, including the one being reviewed now. As for the extras in these dvds, there are some really nice touches. INterviews with various staff, and various image galleries as well as textless openings. Highly recommended. This is one series to add to your library.

Summary: Mix sweetness and humor, garnish with just a touch of angst
Review: Fruits Basket is an anime series which has impressed me from the start and this third DVD is likely my favorite one of the four. Volume three, like all of the DVDs, remains the story of Tohru Honda, a sweet and innocent high school girl, and her (mis)adventures with the various members of the Souma clan. Particularly her relationship with (and the characterizations of) Yuki and Kyou continue to deepen and grow as the storyline shows signs of pulling towards the series conclusion.
Yuki seems to take the center light in this DVD, which may or may not cause a FB fan to enjoy the volume more. Personally, as Yuki is my favorite character, seeing different sides to his character appeals. Watching how he reacts to various characters such as Ayame, his ...exuberant older brother, and Akito, the mysterious and often cruel head of the Souma family, brings home just how multifacetted the Fruits Basket series really is. Regardless of one's views on the Mouse, this DVD is worth it for Ayame's arc alone. He is definitely one of the most hilariously outlandish characters in the series; nearly every moment he spends on screen is brilliant and to be treasured, even as you completely understand Yuki and Kyou's reactions to him.
Favorites such as Hatsuharu and Momiji return as well, with all the chaos you might expect from it. (Haru's turning 'Black' in Momiji's defense and the resulting scene is one of the funniest in the series, which, when one considers, is saying something!) Subtle plays with their characters, Haru's especially, show a depth that isn't often found in anime of this type. Kisa, another of the new characters introduced, is simply adorable and in nearly every scene she's found, you'll find yourself wanting to give the poor kid a hug.
Add all of this in with the level of animation and fantastic storyline that you can expect from a show such as Fruits Basket, and you wind up with a DVD that is well worth the price - and then some. Fruits Basket remains of the of the best values for an anime with volume three; a generous amount of episodes, great continuing storyline, and, perhaps best of all, a fantastic replay factor all add together to make this DVD an excellent addition to any anime library.

Review: Fruits Basket is like a healing balm for all your troubles and worries. All the unusual characters, their interactions, and the dialouge are so funny and also deeply moving. With Fruits Basket, you will laugh and you will cry, and you will feel better about your fears, doubts, and concerns. You will also feel better about yourself.
Volume Three, Puddles of Memories, has an astounding SEVEN eps (#13-#19). What a value for your money! In this DVD, we meet three new Sohmas. Two of them are little kids. They are so adorable, and their stories are so heartwrenching. The first kid, Momiji, appears three times, in episodes 13, 15, and 19. Thirteen is just comedy, but prepare yourself with a box of tissue for episode fifteen. His story is haunting, and will always stay with you. I almost fell out of my chair crying.
The other little Sohma is a girl named Kisa. She is a tiger! And the tiger is so CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Her story is in episode eighteen.
My favorite new character in this DVD is Ayame, the Snake. Ayame is flamboyant, drop-dead gorgeous, and just total eye candy. Gorge on him. My friend said yesterday that he looks like Sesshoumaru from Inuyasha. He does! Ayame and Shigure may or may not have a hot thing going on, which provides lots of comic relief. In fact, Ayame is one of my favorite characters in anime, period.

Review: Fruits Basket is quite an interesting anime, at first the show seems to over the top, and can turn off potential viewers with the giant eyes and the crazy fan club girls, but on episode two the show really kicks off, and with the introduction of new characters, each of whom are unique and different in their own way and devolop quite a bit over the course of the series, the show becomes even funnier, as a note Fruits Basket has an amazing dub, for those who like dubs, in fact, most of the time I watch this series dubbed. As a note I consider the Fruits Basket DVDs to be really the first truely amazingly done DVDS, at the time (Or at least to my knowledge) most Anime discs had 2-5 episodes and th only features were textless endings (Can you say crappy and boring?) but Fruits basket has not only previews for other Funimation stuff, but interviews, a documentary of the "eye catches" (Which are explained in the documentry) and even behind the scenes footage. AND 6 episodes per disc, and the disc has 3 regions, any fan of special features would freak out, why the only way they could get any better would be is if it came with a poster or something rather. Overall I suguest Fruits Basket to anyone who is willing to give it a chance, the anime has elements from many genres and is a perfect balance of Comedy and Character devolopment. Buy it today.

Summary: excellent story, terrible sound quality
Review: I am debating returning the DVD and trying to get an exchange, as the sound quality of the copy I bought is horrible .... volume has to be cranked all the way up to hear it and you get an electronic 'buzz' throughout the whole DVD. The story lines and character interactions are wonderful, though, true to the quality of the series. However the fact that the stories and characters are so delightful makes the awful sound quality even more disappointing.

Review: i personnally love this anime because it is not extremely sappy, the characters are put together very well. i also like it because there is a twist right at the end, if you are looking for an anime without a lot of sap that leave you content with what you have seen i highly reccomend this on. it only runs for about 26 episodes so it wont come to a very big investment.
