Summary: Very very very good
Review: Artwork an animation is excellent, and the dialog is surprisngly very well done for an anime. My only complaint is I felt the story wasn't developed enough, it seemed to move to fast, and that the movie was based around the fight scenes. But hey, with fight scenes like these, thats not too big of a complaint. If you want a stronger and more developed story, get the first Vampire Hunter D movie. If you want better art and animation, get Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

Review: The best scene is the introduction or grand entrance if you will of Meier Link. He's the lead bad guy and all around cool dude. But "D" is the best. The movie reminded me a lot of Ninja Scroll. I believe it was the same production team behind both movies. There are many scenes "borrowed" from Ninja Scroll. Also a must see movie. Please buy you'll not be disappointed.

Review: The vampire Hunter D series contiunes with the next awsome Chapter bloodlust. With updated animation and a story that makes more sense this cahpter pulls all the stops to make this a kick [rear] anime.

The stoyr this time is around D being hired to rescue thism rich guys daughter from a vampire who has taken her as his bride. However little does he realize that the daughter left on her own will to be with the vampire. the rich guy has also hired this very powerful, and very dangerouse team of vampire hunters to take out the vampire. D is also on their trail and eventually it the vampire realizes that they must escape to the vampire utopia, the moon. Ot do so they have to reach the last remaining vampire who would have such a method. In the end we have a kick [buttocks] battle sequence, awsome yet moveing story, and helluva anime.

This is another must own for the DVD library.

Review: I'm pretty sure you've already read the editorial reviews, therefore, you know the plot. I'm also pretty sure that you've heard of the pyramids. But until you see it, you'll never know. If you've never seen an anime film before or are already used to them, get this movie. You won't be disappointed. Blade is a nice vampire, but "D" is a million times better. This movie, along with countless anime movies, is a classic. If you're video store doesn't have it's own anime section....demand one immediately. An absolutely, unbelievably good film/movie.

Review: If you like vampires, this is really the one to see. This story is both a bit sad, (In my opinion), and really thrilling. It's a story about a half human, half vampire named D. He is hated by both specied alike. The setting is in the future 12,000 AD, where vampires, who have been a thriving species from the 23rd century on, are now being hunted down and exterminated. D the "Dunpeal" (The name for a halfbreed), is one of these exterminators. He is a bit expensive to hire, but gets the job done well.
He has a left demonic hand, which he uses to suck up spells, and to ask advice indirectly. His hand is the only one who can talk to him the way it does. He's there for D, the helpful little paracite he is by constantly nagging him, and being the first to want to go back when it gets too dangerous.
D is hated by humans, because they fear his strength. Only a few humans who know what he is really like, do what they can to help him when he comes into their towns. Vampires hate him because he kills them well. He's stronger then most halfbreeds should be. I give this five stars because no matter what trouble he might be in, from heat syndrom to Barbaroy guardians, he always comes through, and gets the job done, one way, or the other.

Review: From the acclaimed director of "Ninja Scroll" and "Wicked City", comes an amazing blend of mind-blowing animation, top-notch supernatural action, and gripping storyline that keeps you immersed in the life of a vampire hunter. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust combines the futuristic idea of high technology with the past ideas of "gouls and goblins". Truly, a must have for anyone who loves anime.

Summary: An outsider perspective
Review: I'm only a casual fan of anime. Almost every anime movie I've seen shares the same annoying cliches: minimal character development, long sequences of self-righteous expository dialogue, the old freeze-frame-over-a-moving-background image during the fight scenes, etcetera. This movie has those same flaws, but it also has a great deal to recommend it.

The story itself involves D, a stoic half-vampire who hunts other vampires (stop me if you've heard this before) in a post-apocalypse future. Except that this guy has a talking parasite in his hand that acts as his partner/foil, and in the future depicted here, vampires are a dying breed. During the opening scene, a human woman is abducted by the great vampire Meier, and her family hires D to find her.

This is where the movie gets unique. D's pretty much a cold fish, but the supposed bad-guy Meier is actually in love with the human woman, and his love is reciprocated. The only villanous quality I can see in the guy is that he's a vampire. He leads D and a group of rival hunters on a long and picaresque chase through a bleak future, which is half gothic ruin and half dead urban sprawl. D's travels are just as often depicted around decaying radio telescopes and highway overpasses as they are in cathedrals and forests. More of D's past (which isn't a whole lot) is revealed along the way, and his interactions with Leila, one of the rival hunters, help flesh out her character well.

Leila may be the closest thing this movie has to a moral center. After all, Meier's love for his human consort is believable, and it's hard to peg him as a villian, while D comes across as blindly obsessive. This really isn't a good-and-evil thing, and the moral ambiguity adds a great deal to the story. Leila has the usual reasons for being a vampire hunter, but it's her moral struggle toward the end that gives her character real depth. Luckily, she and D don't fall into a romance (which would have been predictable but all wrong), but they do develop a sort of friendship, which makes the ending sequence more poignant. Yes, this is an anime movie with a coherent ending.

There are fight scenes-lots of 'em, and they're pretty bloody, but they're well-choreographed, and the animation is great. The backgrounds are unique, and for the most part, the character drawings are masterfully done. The DVD does a great job of keeping everything clear and well-contrasted-not an easy thing in a movie with this much brown in its pallette.

All in all, it's not the most original movie I've seen, nor is it the most original anime, but this is a good, solid film that rewards repeated viewings.

Review: This was well worth the wait! This is an awesome addition to my vampire anime collection. The drawings are so beautiful..."D" looks more like the drawings from the novel. It's amazing how the storyline unfolds.....everything is easy to follow......my only disappointment was with the hand. I didn't care too much for the character voice.

Now for the plot: D is hired by a family to track down their daughter, Charlotte. Charlotte has benn kidnapped by Meier Link....an attractive vampire. D has little bit of competition....the Markus brothers have also been hired.

This is the plot in a nutshell. Like I said before, I was VERY
impressed.......in awe! I defintely recommned this.

Review: The original Vampire Hunter D was one of the first anime I ever saw. It's still great today (though the soundtrack is a little annoying). This new installment has made improvements to the animation, characters, story, and just about everything else (including the soundtrack). The animation is smooth, dark, horrifying and beautiful all at the same time. The characters all have their own distinct and believably real personalities. The story is layered and complex. It also has a surprisingly touching ending and one of the best I've seen. I waited and waited for this movie and was not let down one bit when I finally saw it. It's a great movie. Side note to anyone who cares, there is no Japanese language with English subtittles version because the original language IS English. Trust me, in Japan, it was subtittled in Japanese.
