Summary: The Greatest series created by man. Ever.
Review: What more can be said. This is simply the greatest series ever created. Period. I may die sated now.

Summary: FINALLY! The series ends properly
Review: I have to say, when I bought all the DVDs in the NEON GENESIS: EVANGELION television series, I was really disappointed by the original conclusion. I understand there were content complaints between TV Tokyo and Gainax over how the series was to end, and budgetary problems to boot (typical of Gainax, sadly - see the last episode of GUNBUSTER). So I suppose it was Gainax's own form of payback to make the series ending Shinji's vision quest - though why I should care about the emotional problems of a mopey, whiny 15-year old boy is anybody's guess. (Sorry, but if you're a 15-year old with a father as heartless and rotten-to-the-core as Commander Ikari, and you've got a big honking killer mecha at your disposal, I'd say it's time to use that mecha to slap a little respect into Daddy!)

I jumped at the chance to purchase the Japanese import DVD of DEATH & REBIRTH and THE END OF EVANGELION - even if the only English-language option available was (typo-ridden) transliterated Japlish. Though I never got my wish of seeing Shinji lay the smackdown on his father..., THE END OF EVANGELION is still a satisfying (if tragic) conclusion to the series. So I'm really looking forward to being able to watch this movie properly translated into English by the capable husband&wife team of Amanda Winn and Jason C. Lee (who also worked on the US translations for the television series).

Now, when can we get a decent English-language DVD version of GUNBUSTER?

Summary: Yur mind will never be prepared for this
Review: I have watched all the episodes of the NGE series and i admit after the first three episodes i was hooked and i watched the entire series hoping to find the answers to all the questions i needed to ask. in the end all i ended up with was a feeling of incompletion. this movie is great but DO NOT WATCH BEFORE SERIES
it continues straight from the series and cannot stand alone. To conclude the series was a marvolous revalation in the art of story telling and animation. Every peson whos ready for a wild ride into peoples mind should watch this.It changed my view on humanity

Warning only watch when u have time because u will be so consumed with it it will occupy your mind for along time
PS to all the losers who dissed Evangelion :
It probably never got through your thick heads in the first place and if you dont like it go watch disney movies (which by the way decrease your IQ)

Summary: I Don't Think I Can Sleep After This.....
Review: I have seen this movie twice in fansub format (fan made subtitled), and I still don't honestly get all of what went on. I believe this was Hideki Anno's way of saying "Oh yeah, well, put this in your pipe and smoke it" in response to all of the complaints he received regarding the ending of the TV series (one of the best series I have ever seen, everyone needs to watch it). The series built up to the apocalypse that would occur, but then turns and psychologically analyzes the pilots, and gives the reasoning for their actions. I found it intriguing, but not very relevant to the story. Some have said that the end of the series might be what is going through Shinji Ikari's (ikari=rage in Japanese, just FYI) head during the apocalypse scene during End of Eva. However, this is basically what Anno would say that the rapture or the apocalypse would look like (the recommended reading for this book is the Bible (old and new testament), the Dead Sea Scrolls, and several others I cannot recall). I still don't get the ending, but it is just vageuly disturbing. However, great, great movie, I recommend it heartily for those of you who have watched the rest of Eva and the movies.

Summary: the movie to end all movies
Review: this movie should have been the one that ended the series in the first place considering this is just about how it actually ends, in the manga. but, we all know that not everything is translated literally and the director does get to put in his/her few cents. in my opinion, this is more or less the ending the viewers wanted because would it have been made if so many viewers didn't cry out about how bad the last two episodes were? i, for one, actually like anno's original, underappreciated, "intellectual" happy ending. this is not to say that i didn't like this movie because i love it. like i said, this should have been the ending from the get go.

this movie is action pack for the first fourty-five to sixty minutes or so and than it delves right back into the realm of religious analogies, towards the end. it isn't as heavy, as it is in the original, but it is there. it puts the audience in place of shinji and the audience will once again have to decide what's going on.

i haven't received my preordered copy, as of yet, but have seen it as a fansubbed. i just hope manga doesn't ruin the movie by putting in the mokuji interactive feature, as they did with death and rebirth. the greatest thing about eva is that the viewers gets to decide what is going on, in the storyline, and different people will see things differently. for example, my friend and i can't decide who or what seele really is. i think it is an organization working for God the whole time whereas, he thinks they are just using nerv to get the evas for themselves so that they can decide the fate of the earth. it doesn't mean that one of us is right and the other is wrong now, does it? it is an opinion, an observation of the surroundings.

i did watch about fifteen minutes or so of the mokuji, for death, and i was basically spot on on most of the information given. i stopped it, at this time, so that i can enjoy the series the way it was meant to be seen and that is through my own eyes not through the eyes of manga entertainment and what they think or says it is. if hideaki anno wanted everything to be explained from the get go, he would have done so by leaving out the religious analogies and just turn eva into another robotech/gundam or something (two great classic series that doesn't take any brain power to watch). appearantly, he didn't.

Summary: A second ending as great as the first.
Review: Despite being an amazing, original and intelligent work, the first conclusion to Neon Genesis Evangelion dissatisfied many fans. So, the creators of the show, Studio Gainax and Hideaki Anno made a new climax. This is it. The End of Evangelion: a second amazing, original and intelligent presentation, the equal of the first.
Where TV episode 24 leaves off is where this intense, violent, epic, psychological, emotional and elegant story begins. Highlights include:
-Tied-up loose ends from the show
-Plenty of drama
-Memorable action sequences
-The best music in the entire series
-Highly imaginative imagery
-And a wealth of other great stuff!
Lowpoits:
-...
-...
-...
-There aren't any!
In other words, a great movie.
Now onto another topic. There seems to be some confusion as to what this movie really is. Some people say it's an alternate and invalid ending to the series. Untrue. Gainax intended this to be the true end and are not afraid to admit it. Others claim it and the TV finale are the same story told from different perspectives. I used to believe this also. I don't anymore. It's wrong. While many scenes in End of Evangelion are very similar to scenes from the first conclusion, they are not the same story ... Still more people think End of Evangelion is bad because it (like the original end) delves into Shinji's mind and involves heady psychology. Fellows, Evangelion has always been about its characters, not intense mecha battles. Sure, these characters pilot giant robots into exciting and enjoyable fights, but this was a means of creating drama and telling a story- a story about the characters. If you don't like the psychology and wish that the end was a giant free-for-all then you're a fan of the wrong series. Sorry.
This film truly is the End of Evangelion, a fitting climax to an outstanding series.

Summary: Dazed~~~~
Review: I absolutely LOVED the finale to this series! The art direction and story line flows perfectly with the end of the tv series and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. Although slightly grotesque, the entirety of this film is breath taking emotionally and visually. It really took anime onto a whole new level as far as creativity goes. The music has become one of my all time favorite soundtracks with the upbeat ending theme. I suggest this to all new anime fans. It'll have you hooked in no time.

Summary: I have seen it!
Review: I have already viewed this excellent work of art in Japenese with subtitles and I simply loved it! It was the ending everyone was looking for! This is just such an action packed movie that I will watch over and over.

Summary: Slightly more entertaining ending to an atrocious series
Review: I finally got hold of The End of Evangelion last week. I popped in the tape , and as the movie went on , I wondered who could have gave this movie the green-light to be produced!
This film essentially acts as an alternate ending ,replacing the rather confusing ep 25 and 26 of the tv . Fine , I have to say this movie is definetly a improvement in both terms of quality and cohesion in contrast to the tv ending , but there is still editing they should have done.
The movie does have a decent amount of action , especially when the guys with dark suits arrive at the EVA bunker and start killing everbody , as well as when Asuka engages a bunch of other "Angels" in her EVA.
Once the action grinds to a halt , I found the movie broke down. We start delving once again into the recesses of Shinji's mind ( like ep 25 , 26), which no one really cares for since it is such a disturbing place. Suffice to say , there ends up being a lot of B.S scenes and plenty of plot holes. Especially the live-action footage they had in the movie. It just didn't look right. They shoulda took that right outta there.
Anyone , if your a die-hard Neon fan , and you wanna get your grubby hands on this movie , the DVD is your best bet. You get two languages and noticible res increase from the 'ol VHS edition.
Stick to the Japanese language unless your a total ignoramous and hate subtitles.

Summary: The Physical Aspect of Episodes 25 & 26
Review: So many people view this movie as the alternate ending to NGE, but it is far from the truth. Episodes 25 and 26 represent what's going through Shinji's mind during the events of the movie.

Now to the experience itself...if you've not experienced the series, you will not understand anything this movie has to offer. A suggestion...buy the NGE disc set and the movie (inlcude Death and Rebirth if you like) and sit down and watch it all in one sitting. And then sit around for a week contemplating what you just witnessed. It is a mind-"job" that will have you reeling for a long time.

The movie...frightening, morbid, mind-bending...only a few words that can be used to describe this [a nearly] undescribable masterpiece. Hideaki Anno was one truly twisted person when he created NGE and this movie, but I am thankful for it. It's a wonderful story (and I shall not spoil it...it needs to be experienced, not read about) and has made me look over my life.
