Summary: An EXTREMELY good anime series!
Review: To be honest, by looking at the DVD sleeves I expected something totally different. Something more violent, or more serious. Instead it end up being more like Ranma 1/2 meets Cowboy Bebop (the best cartoon EVER!!) It's a great series no matter what. Characters have charm (especially Vash and Wolfwood), the music sounds right, and it has great animation. I actually would give this 4 1/2 stars just for the fact that it's not my absolute favorite anime, but 5 stars is the closest thing. So go buy this and while you're at it, BUY COWBOY BEBOP!!! THEY GO WELL TOGETHER!!!

Summary: The World is Made of Love and Peace!
Review: I adore this series! I bought all the disks individually, so I haven't seen the boxed set, but I loved it enough to buy the whole damn thing, so as long as they have every episode, buy it. It is sooo funny! It's also touching and heartwrenching at times. The characters are touching and fairly realistic. Every character has a back story that justifies why they do what they do, especially Vash and Wolfwood. I have yet to watch it subtitled because the vocal expressions of the english-speaking actors is so funny! I only own three anime series, and this is one of them. It's great even for people that don't like anime.

Summary: My Favorite Anime Of All Time
Review: I can't think of a single bad thing to say about this series. It is the perfect blend of action, comedy, and drama. Not only is it laugh out loud hilarious, it also can be dark and serious. Not to mention having Nicholas D. Wolfwood, THE coolest character in the history of the world, ever. The release of this box set is really a blessing, since there are eight dvds in the series and collecting them individually is a pain. I realize trying to convince you to buy over a hundred dollars worth of anime on my recomendation is ubsurd, so I suggest that you rent the first three dvds. If your not hooked buy then, you probably just don't like anime in general.P.S. I tried to watch a few episodes dubbed, but I couldn't take it. Please go with the subtitles

Summary: WOW!
Review: Vash the Stampede is compassion, courage, determination, and comedy personified. It is no wonder that the viewer, much like the characters Vash encounters in the story, immediately become attached to the central figure of this classic set which starts off innocently lighthearted but soon turns into a gripping and often dark exploration of Vash's destiny and a past that haunts him at every turn. The outlaw feared and referred to as the Humanoid Typhoon is a walking, gun-toting contradiction. He'll never kill anyone (bad or good) and yet mass destruction follows him wherever he goes. Vash always has a knee-jerk junevile reaction whenever a pretty girl enters the room but often follows up the very next moment with a deep philosophical insight or question into humanity. The juxtapositions keep the story from becoming too dark when the story takes its dramatic twists. The supporting characters are also great. The 26 episodes give ample time for each character to go beyond the superficial facades and dig deep into their pasts. Each mystery (such as the origin of Vash's mechanical left arm, and even the reason why Vash wears red) is explained beautifully and grippingly in sequences of cutscenes throughout. The many Christian imageries and allegories, intentional or not, were very touching. The voice acting by the way are top notch and fits perfectly to each character. I daresay that very few things in American TV or movie theaters can hold a Mayfly to the heart and action found in this wonderful set.

Summary: It will superglue you to your TV / monitor
Review: The strongest point of this series is the concise story. It starts off as extreme comedy but ends as a deeply philosophical drama (there's still comedy here and there). After the first few intro episodes, every episode leads directly to the next (true, you can say that about all anime, but the word "cliffhanger" must have gotten its definition from Trigun.) The word "overkill" must have gotten its definition from Trigun as well. The action is superb and will make you laugh at how overdone it is. It has guns, guns, more guns, rocket launchers, cyborgs, giants, even a priest with his "cross of mercy"! But unlike the mindless destruction we see in other shows there is a sad moral to tell. I was hesitant to pick this up, but thanks to the box set I now have the best 26-episode series in my anime collection.

Review: In all honesty, I've never collected a series as diligently as I did Trigun (on VHS) and now that I have my DVD player, I'm joyfully awaiting for my box set to arrive ^_^;; This show has it all, amazing characters, developed plot, comedy, a strange romance, mysterious pasts(tm) a big cross with a lot of guns in it, evil twin brothers, and a sountrack that, in my opinion, takes seccond place only to Cowboy Bebop. This is one of the few stories that will have you laughing and crying in the same episode. ....And vash is just SOOOOOO cuddly.

Summary: Not exactly perfection but still spectacular
Review: Western. Comedy. Sci-Fi. Action. Drama. Did I just list off nearly every category of a video store here? Sorry, but that's exactly where Trigun fits, somewhere between all of these in stew that should be a bit too spicy. Instead it comes off as quite enjoyable, and a valuable asset to my DVD collection. Inititially, upon putting in the first disk of this 8 disk, 26 episode series, I caught myself predicting 'great, this is funny and all but is this going somewhere?' I am glad I stuck with it because once you get into the third disk it is very difficult not to enjoy what turns out to be an original, and surprisingly complicated plot. Here's a rundown of the main characters without spoiling anything. Vash- Known as the 'Humanoid Typhoon' has a bounty for $$60 billion. He gets by as a drifter, passing from town to town in his solitude. Considering what he is wanted for, the destruction of entire cities within minutes, you would think he would fall under the tough burly male anime stereotype. You will never find someone more of a dork than this person. He has the firepower to take on anyone, yet refuses to take the life of another. He is a skirtchaser, a party animal, and donut scarfing pig. There is another side to him, one that is hidden in the calm, gentle exterior the earlier episodes portray. One of the most likable characters I've encounted in any series. Wolfwood- He's a gun toting, chain smoking, cursing, drinking priest. You can never go wrong with that. In contrast to Vash's idealism, Wolfwood is more pratical in his thought and much more sardonic in attitude. There is a certain amount of mystery about him as you realize with each episode he is featured tells the viewer more and more that he is no ordinary priest. Meryl- She is you bitchy chick of the bunch. To say she loaths Vash and Milly's (see below) ridiculous antics is being realatively mild. She is out to find the legendary outlaw Vash on orders from her employer, an insurance agency, to prevent more damage (and payments to victims) from occuring. She restrains herself and tries to come off as serious, but there is a side to her that is softer. Milly- Many might initially think she is stupid. She isn't at all she's just naive in the worst way at times. (one line goes: 'My only salvation is that she doesn't know how smart she is') She is the first one to pick up on small details and has a really cool weapon. (okay, all the characters do) Well, I can't say much about the storyline without giving spoilers so I will say that the first 8 episodes or so are pure comedy/action genre spoofs. (I think this was intended as a parody of our westerns and action films) There is little continiuity between episodes, much like Ranma and Coybow Bebop. But afterward it takes a very sharp turn where you see the other side of Vash and of his nature. Each character has something revealed by the end of this madhouse romp through a desert planet. Japanese Acting: Okay, it is always good, isn't it? The way any movie is intended to be viewed. Voices are right on for each character and there is lots of emotion in each character. All of your mains are great and really bring out the characters appropiately. Great job here. English Dubbing: There are very few dubs I like. This happens to be one of them. The script very closely matched the subtitles (there was one major screw up though at episode 5, a couple minor miswordings, but not bad enough where you lose vital information) And, the biggest shock of it all.... the voices were actually decent most of the time. Vash's English voice was very similar to the Japanese in terms of pitch and emotion. (usually japanese have higher pitched voices than americans both male and female) Wolfwood comes off as he was intended, cool, collected, and just a slight badass. Meryl sounds very normal and unstrained. You can imagine a buisness woman sounding like her. Milly's was slightly annoying at times as she sounds too childish and nasal at times. Villains were at times cheesey, but other times right on. I was impressed by the quality of this particular dub. Extras are sparce on these disks unfortunately. Some of the technical designs are quite impressive, and there are quite a few. You also can see sketches of many characters and villains. If you bought the DVD's seperately like I did there is also the chrome card inside some of the DVD's which gives it a nice shiny look and is a nice collector's item.

Summary: BEST ANIME BOX SET!!!!!
Review: This is woth the big bucks your going to spend. The show has a great sotry line, and has great punch lines at the same time. Nothing has been edited from this (haven't seen the true japenese version.) I recommended this over Dragonball Z. I like DBZ, but they have edited for children. IF you want to see sweet shoot outs, and some great humor. You should get this immeditely. Also get:

Review: I have to say that I was almost immediately regretful of putting down (...) my hard earned cash into this series after getting the set and sliding the first disc in. The first four episodes, and to a certain extent the next three also, are hard to appreciate if you have not seen the whole series. But once I hit disc number four I was hooked, the series takes a turn that lets you understand the first couple discs too and I have since cherished all the episodes. Trigun is a slow builder, which is nice actually because you can watch it again and again. It is tragically hip and funny and moody and happy and allot more at the same time. The music! Oh the music, you will enjoy the music, the opening theme will ingrain in your brain permanently and the animation that goes along with it is superb. The characters, well at least the main ones, some of those "baddies" are just terrible, but Vash, and Knives, and the "insurance ladies" and Wolfwood, yes, they are great characters that will surprise you with their depth which you will be shocked[!] by after the first disc. "Rem Saverem" is my pinnacle character episode; I could watch it [and do] on repeat for hours. Really the only reason not to put your money into this if your thinking about buying the set is that Trigun is no Cowboy Bebop, and if you don't have the Perfect Sessions of Cowboy Bebop yet then definitely put your money into that instead [and then buy this one later. Heh.]

Summary: Trigun - A Pleasant Surprise
Review: I was first introduced to Trigun by a friend of mine, and I must admit, when I first watched it, I wasn't that impressed. HOWEVER, this review is not yet over, so if you want to hear my more informed opinion, keep reading. The first dozen or so episodes of the series are funny, yes, but seem like they're going to turn into another Ranma series with their one-episode plot lines. Not to say that I don't like Ranma - I do - however, that was not what I was looking for in Trigun, at least not after the reviews I read. Fortunately, after the first third of the episodes, the series begins to change its character. Every episode becomes more and more serious, and the character development becomes more and more intense. You finally realize what the 'real' Vash the Stampede is all about. And the plot twists are surprising. To conclude, I would just like to reaffirm the fact that you cannot judge this series on the basis of the first few episodes. This series is excellent, and the "re-run" value is superb. The first few episodes will be much funnier and mean much more to you after you've watched the entire series. Overall, this series is the perfect blend of humor, seriousness, and character development. If you stick through the somewhat misleading first episodes, you're in for a real treat!
