Summary: Just wonderful
Review: This has joined the ranks of my favorite anime of all time. Dramatic, foolish, beautiful, slapstick, sad, funny, absurdist, satirical in rapid succession, with a story that is barely comprehensible and utterly ridiculous. Brilliant animation and art, wonderful sound track. And yes, it has big robots, too, but quite original ones. Unlike anything else; if you don't love it, you'll probably hate it.

Review: FLCL is not a 'beginner's title' despite its deservedly rave reviews.
I am certain that there are a lot of pre-teens who are watching FLCL right now with a mixture of horror and awe pasted on their faces. What others have written is indeed true - FLCL is a unique, wondrous and utterly shocking anime series which boasts what is arguably the best soundtrack of any series yet released in the states.
It uses MTV-style animation and editing to tell a tale that is more implication and metaphor than actual plot - although there is a plot once the whole is digested. It is essentially a coming-of-age story - or perhaps a coming-of-puberty story with a near-continual stream of sexual innuendo and imagery. Taken at its rapid-eye-movement, face value, the story is exciting, confusing and fairly chaste. Considered after two or three viewings, it grows horns, as it were. What is FLCL really?... you be the judge.
The DVDs are quite well made and more worth the cost than many. The subtitling is large and bright enough to read - written in a good font. The sound is superb, although this may be more the music than the actual sound quality. This is a series that deserves to be watched more than once, unlike many others. In fact, it must be watched more than once. Probably not a good gift from your parents, but worth a purchase.

Review: If you want your mind blown, fine, you might enjoy this. But personally, I'd like to know there was some manner of thought behind the ridiculousness. There isn't. This is strictly for the pseudo-intellectual. The notable lack of a a coherant plot is only the beginning. I'm an anime fan. I can take weird. Akira was great. Eva was great. But they were also thoughtful. This isn't.

Summary: Awful, awful garbage
Review: "Wow what a cool new anime!"These words jumped in mind when i saw the beginning of the first episode of FLCL on Adult Swim. However, by the end of the episode I was just bored and a little frustrated. By the end of the 2nd episode, this anime made me want to smash my fist through the television. There seems to be absolutely NO plot structure anywhere in this whole series, which is forgiving for the 1st episode but you'd expect some plot by the 5th. Instead it is a constant, rambling, frantic mess. There is no way that even Einstein could figure out the [real] story here, you're left on your own to figure out who's who and why everything in this stupid anime is a certain way. This is FLCL's biggest flaw. The only people this anime could possibly appeal to are little kids with no attention span who only like pretty flashing colors. The animation is good, but there is something sterile about it, kinda like .hack but even more. Now some of the mouths and noses in this anime are completely awful. The noses look like they came from pigs and those disgusting mouths with the mutated lips (seen often on the dumb girl with purple hair) are the most hideous things I've ever seen. The music is good (but in no way comes close to the great audio of Bebop.) It may be a little too rock heavy at times but its nothing unbearable. In short, nothing can save this horrifyingly bad anime from its own nonexistent plot structure. Don't waste your time with this "fad" anime. This is one of THE worst animes in my opinion. There's plenty of better stuff out there folks.

Summary: The Best Anime I have Ever seen!
Review: FLCL is ne of the greatest animes ever. it combines great animation with great music and charechters with great personalities. It is one of the most hysterical shows i have ever seen. although the plot line is a little hard to follow thats not the point. you dont need to know whats going on to like this cartoon. one other thing that isnt so good is that theres only 6 episodes but it is a show you can watch over and over and it wont lose its funniness. well thats about all i can say so heres my review and get the dvd its great.

Summary: Totally AWESOME! And TOTALLY Wacked.
Review: The Show called, "Fooly Cooly (FLCL or Furi Kuri)," Is an Excellent Show, Weird and Wacky, but one of the Greatest Show's ever. There's no real Storyline in the beginning, but it starts to pull together. It's about a boy named Naota (Takkun or Taro-Kun), and one day a Vespa Woman hit's him with her little Motor Bike, then as soon as he comes to, BAM! She hit's him with her Bass Guitar, and so through out the Episodes (Which there is only 6) He keep's sprouting Robot's out his head. I really shouldn't tell you anymore, or it wouldn't be surprising, but no matter how much I tell you about it's Weirdness and Wackiness, there is no way that it could not be surprising, and to this day, after watching it 4 or 5 times, I finally understood it, so, if you get it, pay VERY close attention or you'll get lost.

Summary: utterly amazing ^.^
Review: Alrighties, now, let me make something clear: I did not MEAN to rate this anime five stars... it's just that... well, I couldn't find seven-hundred million stars^.^ Yeah, it really is that good. After one episode, I was absoloutly hooked. Despite the fact that it's kinda' confusing and u have to be paying close attention to figure things out, it makes this... deep connection with viewers. The characters are deep, and they develop beautifully throughout the story. Action? oh yeah, it's got that, and all fight scenes are EXCELLENT. Add lots and lots and lots of comedy, and many self references, and there you go. But, I feel like I'm forgetting something... oh yeah, some of the best art I've seen in an anime... ever. It is not only my favorite anime (by faaaaar), but quite possibly the greatest thing on earth, rivaled only by its own soundtrack.

Summary: 23:30 was not the best timeslot for thinking
Review: You may have come straight from watching FLCL on Adult Swim, or you may have discovered this gem in a more roundabout way -- possibly though Gainax, recommendations, or falling over a copy in the street -- but however you first encountered it, I think I can guess your reaction: huh? Furi Kuri, from the outset, is awash with bright colors, fast scene changes and references that, while not as rooted in Japanese pop-culture as those in Excel Saga or as subliminal as Evangelion's, may need looking up if you're viewing the subtitled Japanese dub (they appear to have been changed in the English vo).
If you don't understand what's going on, you've got straight to the point: FLCL's incomprehensible thrill-ride seems to have been another Gainax peek into the swirling emotions of puberty and the trials of growing up, as personified by the confused Naota. Even without analysing the undertones of growth and life, FLCL is still an excellent series. In fact, Gainax have succeeded at making a series that can be viewed on multiple levels and still enjoyed, unlike, say, Evangelion (which loses any "surface" about halfway) or Kareshi Kanojo no Jijoo (which appears to be nothing but "surface"). The decision to sell the series as a set of three DVDs -- with only two episodes per disk -- seems a poor one, pushing the price up and increasing the difficulty of keeping everything together. Even so, FLCL is still worth checking out.

Summary: genius and insanity
Review: I loved this series! It was fun, dramatic, action packed, it had everything all bundled into on chaotic package called FLCL (Furi Kuri or fooly cooly). I would definitely recommend this. It has witty references to different animes, books and shows (The South Park one was funny!) I think this disproves the quote "There is a fine line between genius and insanity" because this is both at the same time and it is Awesome!

Review: I've seen most of the FLCL series and I reccomend it to all who have moderate or more intelligence. Those of you who enjoy pokemon and want to branch out into the anime world can stop reading now. It is a genius show with great characters. Destroying robots with electric guitars! What could be better? Though confusing it is one of the animes world elite. Sure to become a classic or at least a cult classic. I'd also like to reccomend volumes 2 and 3. -The Rooster p.s.
