Summary: Post-modern Japanese Animation that'll punch you in the gut
Review: Yep, it'll punch you right in the gut and kick you when you're on the ground. But you're going to laugh. And who wouldn't? A guitar-weilding, vespa riding, housekeeper; A factory shaped like an iron; A bad guy with really big eyebrows; Strange robots that pop out of...where? It's funny. So enjoy it already.

Review: Ok This is an honest review (...). It's a (...) fine anime but it's prolly not for everyone. I have friends that say it's only ok at best I think they said it was too weird and it doesn't seem to be getting anywhere. I like weird so yeah I like this. (...)The Pillows do a fine job to create the mood and the animation quality is astounding. As for the story, it's outrageous and yet simple. For those of you that like the fluff(ie blah-mon, gundam W, sailor moon i would continue but the list would be too long) stay away I would be horrified if you owned this. Sorry if you disagree but I have this elitest anime attitude and I hate ALMOST everything on cartoon network. Thanks for listening to my rant. FLCL and furi kuri and fooly cooly whatevers you wanna call it, it's sheer cool.

Summary: Revolutionary Modern Anime!
Review: This series of 6 episodes NEVER stops. High octane designs, super animation beyond anything ever made(puts Disney features to shame), ridiculous situations, unique characters, detailed mecha, and action pushing the bounds of perceptibility place this OVA into the highest ranks of Japanese artistic ability on my DVD shelf. I started watching this series 18 months back in the original Japanese format, and even went to japan to pick up the release of episode 4. Granted, the story is a slim thread on which to hang a plethora of mega-skill and stylistic incidents, but in the end is a series so lush and amazing that it never tires to watch. The Pillows rock soundtrack is extremely well placed, and probably the best J-Pop ever in an anime. Get the two FLCL soundtrack albums where ever you can find them. GAINAX, the animation studio, gratiously released 'The Groundwork of FLCL' revealing key animation and timing sheets (along with promo art for the series) which is an invaluable brag showing other animators precisely how they planned and penned the revolutionary animation within. Revealing enough was the Bill Plympton influence they used to stretch characters into obscene POV perspective instead of the usual Jack Kirby super foreshortening commonly used. Not a frame of FLCL was produced by artists on cruise control...scoff will you!!?? Watch this series and be blown away. One viewing, even a dozen viewings will never suffice, and thus as I said FLCL never stops.

Summary: best anime. Ever.
Review: This one has it all. FLCL, or Fooly Coolly (with 2 l's) is funny, action-packed, deep, and very entertaining.
The story centers around Naota Nandaba, a kid who had a strange encounter with Haruko, a mysterious woman who later becomes his housemaid. During the series, the theme of adulthood is touched by all the charactersm who are all deep and entertaining. However, the deepness doesn't mean dullness. This series is hysterically funny and active, with a funny thing happening every time. Animation and music are great, too.
NOTE: The name IS fooly Coolly, or FLCL. It's the original name the director wanted, and it's obvious in ep. 6.

Summary: FLCL - Gainax's finest Anime title yet!
Review: Gainax has outdone themselves. If you are a fan of anime, or just getting into it, let me recommend that you see FLCL -- right away. I have never in my life seen a more involving, entertaining, and thoughtful anime than Kazuya Tsurumaki's masterpiece. If you liked Neon Genesis Evangelion, then you'll love FLCL. It is a very confusing anime, but somehow, that makes it all the more entertaining. I have sat through the entire series something like 5 times, and I would do it again, because this is the BEST anime ever. No contest. The soundtrack by The Pillows rocks, too! And by the way, it is NOT "Fooly Cooly". What the heck? Who wanted to call it "Fooly Cooly"? That's degrading to the series! In any case, pre-order this DVD as soon as you can. I have the Japanese imports, and while it does have English subtitles, there are some parts where the dialog moves so fast that I wish I had an English dubbed version. If you've seen OAV #1, "FuriKuri", the scene where the anime goes into Manga style and Natoa's dad is talking about FLCL, then you'll understand what I mean. This DVD will contain the first two episodes, "FuriKuri" and "Fista" (FIre STArter, Mamimi's handheld videogame), and they both have English and Japanese audio, and English subtitles. While the original release date was 1/29/02, apparantly is has been moved to 3/28/02.

Summary: FLCL is good old-fasioned completely insane fun
Review: FLCL is perhaps one of the strangest, craziest, nonsensicalest, downright brilliant anime series I have ever seen. FLCL brilliantly lampoons a variety of animated features but not by parodying their content, but rather their animation styles. That might not make much sense now, but when you see them spoof South Park, you'll understand. Add in some of the funniest gags ever to appear on film, a cast of delightfully enthralling and interesting characters, a catchy soundtrack by The Pillows, and a surprisingly captivating storyline and you've got one of the most rewarding series ever. But be warned, many of you will be left in a state of profound confusion upon viewing it.

Summary: FLCL has good replay value - Here's why
Review: You will be won over by FLCL's edgy, well developed characters. Or maybe you'll be won over by this anime's postmodern use of constant Japanese rock that sounds a lot like Weezer. In fact its really interchangeable - try making a FLCL vs Weezer CD album if you have the mp3s.Something that no one has commented on yet: This anime is controversial, and has many layers to it. I really wonder how they're planning to release an english version when so many of the jokes are played on the translation of Japanese to English. Take the name for example, translated E to J, does FLCL mean Fooly Cooly, Furi Kuri, Furry Curry, or what. If you've seen the series, then you know what I mean with all the curry eating in ep3. It gets perverted this way too, with blunt sexual jokes... which makes me wonder why this anime is listed with a PG rating. I hope nothing got lost in the translation. Ill admit it. I have watched FLCL straight through like 10 times in a single week. Its only a 6 part series, but Im glad its like that because the creators were able to put more time and detail into each. BTW everyone seems to like the South Park scene. The series gets a lot better than that. Most importantly This series has good replay value - each time you will see something new. If you enjoyed finding religious references in Evangelion, you will be challenged again in FLCL, except this time it is more historical and not as obvious. No one on the net seems to acknowledge this, and Im too lazy to make a webpage or FAQ how so. I think the only way to see for yourself is to get this anime.

Summary: This series is REALLY cool!
Review: Seeing this series is amazing. I am greatly looking forward to the English dub (even though most English dub is really awful), to heard what's happening during the Manga scene in episode 1 (it's brillient, but hard to follow when your attention is distracted watching the subtitles and the action). This Series is amazing, and very fun to watch.
ALSO!! Listen to the background music (BGM)!! J-Rock band The Pillows rock hard!! ^_^

Review: This is an incredible show, with amazing music, amazing animation, and a very cool storyline once you realize what is going on. Btw, a lot of people here are protesting about the use of Fooly Cooly. I think it is a little weird, but if you watch the animation closely, there is a scene at the end where the word is spelled out (as Fooly Cooly, although i think it actually ends up getting spelled as Fooly Coolly with two L's) that way, so I don't see why everyone thinks Studio Gainax doesn't think this is a good spelling of it. Studio Gainax also explained that they based the title on the words "Fool" and "Cool", so this really isn't that incorrect. Why people are so against this is beyond me.

Summary: Funny, thrilling, revolutionary, what are you waiting for?
Review: FLCL, or FuriKuri (I don't like Fooly Cooly, just because it sounds rubbish :p) is an anime like you've never seen before. It's a series like you've never seen before. It's a film like you've never seen before. It's different, it's unique, it's incredible. The animation is high-quality, self-referential, and a mix of many, many different styles. It's funny, it's profound, it's riveting. The story is in turns confusing, insane, and clear. The clues are there, they're hidden well, and you won't work out what's going on until you've seen it all. And you won't want to stop watching until you know what's going on. And once you know what's going on, you'll watch it again just to make sure. Manga-style animation. Bullet-time. Construction paper. Eva, Gundam, computer game references. Religion, teen angst, family problems, friendship, manipulation, love. Add in the best j-rock soundtrack ever, and you've got an explosive mix that'll keep you hovering about six inches above your seat, just from the light-headed feeling you get when you have a life-changing experience.
