Summary: One of the greatest treats to watch ever...
Review: I made my mother watch it with me one night, assuring her that it was a fine film. She, of course, didn't believe me (and I can't blame her). Rarely does a mother sit dowm thinking that this is just a kid's cartoon and stand up crying at the end to say that Totoros are the cutest creatures that she has ever seen. Please see this movie.

Summary: Great movie, not only for kids!
Review: Anyone, regardless of age, will instantly fall in love with the characters in this film, especially Totoro and his two smaller friends. After seeing this movie, see Grave of the Fireflies, a much more heartbreaking movie, also produced by Studio Ghibli and shown on a double bill with Totoro when shown in theaters.

Summary: Intelligent films for children deserve our support!
Review: This is the second film by Miyazaki that we have seen (the other is the equally marvelous "Kiki's Delivery Service") and we are impressed. Our 4 year old daughter loves both of these films. While we see many "kidvids", these really stand out with great, believable kids, warm adult role models and story lines that speak to the amazing world of the young with the greatest respect. Head and shoulders above the usual adventure stories.

Review: An Abosulutly wonderful film that promotes family, fantasy, imagination, and values. The humor is wonderful. I love the part of Totoro making the rain fall from the trees as he and the older girl wait for bus! Nice work!

Review: The first time I saw this movie it was in Japanese. Even though I did not understand the language I fell in love with Totoro and the story line. I have a giant stuffed Totoro which my husband bought for me in Japan and I love it.

Summary: Great, spiritually uplifting movie!
Review: This animation is about two young girls who meet up some "spirits" from the local forest. It deals with the beliefs (and realities?) of children, especially with a loving father who is happy to share their young outlook on life.I have shown this movie to a group of 13 adults (including one "critic" who likes to analyze every film that comes along) who end up with tears in their eyes and who came up to me later and told me what a great film they thought it was. The characters were very "real" to me. The nanny is old and ugly, but has an incredibly kind heart. The children act like the real children I've known - mostly responsible, but sometimes messing up. It was so easy to forget this was a "cartoon" and to identify with these people! I love the style of animation. It reminded me of some of the early Disney animations. When people laugh their mouths are too big, or steps are too long, or those things that exagerate and communicate something that "realistic detail" can't do. It is a full length feature film with plot, character development and it runs you up and down the emotional tone scale (from very sad to very happy) several times.

Review: This is one of the best movies made of all time. Every time I watch it, I realize what it is that makes me love it so much. Here is the epiphany of the perfect movie ; a great story with many lessons and morals, humor, and the best animation I've ever seen.

Review: This is a beautifully produced anime that I find completely entertaining and charming. I am an artist and the artistry displayed in the scenery is breathtaking. The story is sweet, and I'm sorry some of the reviewers find it slow. It has a nice, easy pace. I love Totoro and his friends!
