Summary: My savior!
Review: The show that saved my 7th grade scores and let me pass math and science! It may not happen to you but it did for me. Who ever saw Tenchi Muyo on Toonami this is a must buy! If you have only seen the edited version you gotta see this! There was just too much edited out to really enjoy it. My favorite thing about this box-set is the inside art! The Choushin!!!! All in their proper places! If you havent seen the show, and you like the one guy and six girl thing this is all for you. I will never stop loving Tenchi Muyo.... EVER! Or in plain English: It's worth the money.

Summary: A lot of fun
Review: I had seen bits and pieces of Tenchi on Cartoon Network, and from what I had seen I wasn't too impressed. Every anime website I visited had Tenchi Muyo on their 'recommended' list, and all the reviews I had been reading were very positive. So I decided to chance it and I picked this up. I was blown away. This series was a blast from start to finish. The characters are likeable, but once you get through a couple episodes you'll fall in love with them. The animation is absolutley top notch, and the video quality is crisp, bright, and clear as well. When Tenchi and company aren't getting in trouble with space pirates, their antics around the house will surely have you chuckling. The only thing that dissapointed me is that it is way too short. Tenchi is the most addictive of anime, and once you've watched this you'll be craving more. Very easy to recommend, and a definite MUST own for any serious anime fan.

Summary: Tenchi Muyo! OVA Fans should be pleased...
Review: When I first bought this I expected nothing but the best, let me just say that the wait was well worth it. 3 Discs are included in this DVD set:Disc #1: First half of the series
Disc #2: The remaining half
Disc #3: Extras disc The series itself is well done in every aspect of animation, and the art is very smooth looking. The original japanese version is included, as well as the remarkably-done English dub. The audio is done in THX (which is awesome sounding on a pricy stereo system), and you'll notice every little noise available. The extras disc is crammed packed with...well..."extras". There are tons of trailers, bios, geographical data (maps of tenchi's house), image galleries, and even an interview with one of the japanese voice actors (Sakuya) and a music video she did. I would have to say this is the best Extras Disc offered besides the Akira Special Edition's. The casing itself is unique as well and is fitting for this three-disc set. Overall I would say that all $100+ I spent on this was not wasted, and I hope to see it done to other great anime series as well!

Summary: Excellent!
Review: This set occupies pride of place in my collection, for various reasons. It's a genuinely funny series with very likeable characters. Special mention must go to Pioneer who THX digitally remastered this series with astonishing results. The image is crystal clear, with very minimal artifacting and no other defects whatsoever on my set. Well, on to the nitty-gritty. What do you get:
* All 13 original animation videos (OAV)
* Japanese (standard), English languages
* English subtitles and English hearing-impaired.
* A bonus dvd with the tenchi encyclopedia
* A fold-out case for all 3 dvds. The packaging looks nice, but I'd rather they'd went for actual jewel-cases, as they tend to be stronger.
The menus are simple and basic, but look suitably Tenchi-like. The intro/credits are the original japanese ones, but unless you enable the hearing-impaired subtitles you won't get subtitles for the songs. Hmm, what else to tell. If you liked the TV series, you'll like these OAV's even more as the animation is a lot better and it's more Tenchi. If, like me, you had never heard/seen of Tenchi before, this box-set is a very good place to start. I really couldn't find any major fault with this set, so go out and buy it!

Review: I would reccomend this for anyone over the age of 13. I'm only fifteen and i just started watching anime about a year ago. Tenchi Muyo is the first anime I started to watch, and from the start i thought it was stupid and then i started to like it. The Tenchi Muyo boxed set I got is really good. It is different from the cartoon network version because now i can see every thing that they cut out and most of them are really stupid things that they cut out of it. I would reccomend this to any anime lover. Who would guess, one day a 17 year old boy is living a normal teen life and all of a sudden 6 space women are at his house. Weird, but awsome.

Summary: Comedy, romance, and adult-themes.. did I mention funny?
Review: I don't know where to begin with this great series. The animation is superb. Though that doesn't always mean the anime is, it is definately a beneficial factor. The scenery and characters blend flawlessly and the drawing style really makes for memorable characters. The story - well that's the complex part. At first, you may only notice the romance/comedy aspect. Yes, Tenchi, a high-school senior, has babes from space come into his life, each falling in love with him. Hence the title of the show (in all its various translations). However, there is more to it than that. I'm going to refrain from saying anything specific, because you should at least watch it yourself. Throughout the episodes, though, we fing that there are powers in the universe which certain characters weild, drawing Tenchi and the gang into a more political storyline than just your average villain-kidnaps-girl-hero-saves-girl-kills-villain plot. While certain things happen on one surface of the show, more is going on beneath. The quality of the OVAs is argued by most to be the best of all the Tenchi Muyo incarnations. Personally, I agree; I also think the Universe series, which has a slightly different story, is on-par in terms of animation and almost in terms of character development. Anime fans have probably already seen this; new ones, check it out. I would advise that the younger viewers not watch this- it's not the same as what Toonami on Cartoon Network is allowed to air. There are a few more lines and scenes that had to be altered or cut in order to make it to television here in America. That doesn't mean that the OVAs are vulgur or adult-oriented - just that they have a few jokes here or there and scenes that adults may be warry of. Anyone else who is interested in getting in a few laughs, checking out a developed storyline (I warn you, since OVA3 is not out yet, the last episode leaves you with questions answered and more new questions unanswered), or wishing your life was this interesting, give it a try. I recommend it, of course!

Summary: Well, it's better than the Toonami version
Review: It's nearly impossible to be an anime fan and not have heard of Tenchi. Popularized by the cartoon network and gutted by their censoring, it tells the story of a young man training to be a shrine guardian (or something) and the girls he meets, namely the demon Ryoko and the princess Ayaka. Of course they encounter lots more characters, and adventures ensue.
I'd seen a few of the ultra-censored episodes, but this was totally different. Yeah, I guess I enjoyed it well enough; I was expecting more, though. My favorite aspect was probably how the creators elaborated on the planet Jurai, and their tree-ships and monarchy, as well as the three goddesses. The details they give you really create the tangible impression of a huge and complex galactic system without laying on too much at once. On a more juvenile level, I enjoyed most of the raunchy humor which was censored out for the television version.
As for the less favorable aspects: Tenchi does carry male wish fulfillment too far at times, what with all of the girls desperately in love with him (possibly an exaggeration) and all over him. Given what a dork Tenchi is, one has to wonder. Also, the right-wing espousal of sex-roles kind of grated on me a little. ("Tenchi, if you don't learn to fight then how will you protect all these women?" "Caring for the baby will be no problem with all these women around.") Well, it's not that bad. The characters are pretty likeable, the goddesses provide an interesting enigmatic touch, and Mihoshi is the hottest girl in the show no matter what anyone says. For the most part the music isn't great, although the second English ending and closing theme songs are good enough to pretty much makes up for the others.
You probably already know if you'll like this or not. I rate it as pretty fun but overrated, and I'm never wrong.

Summary: Oddly Satisfying
Review: Tenchi Muyo! OVA box set is one of these series that is really pretty funny. Even if you have never seen it before or any anime, its one that for some reason you find your self watching just to see what weird or out of place thing is going to happen next. The plot as far as I can tell is quite simple it's based on character development and the subplots are the weird goings on that happen around the shrine. One suggestion for anyone thinking about this DVD and the reason I gave it 4 stars out of five stars. Is for the knowledge or to familiar with Japanese culture, a lot of it will be confusing and weird or even offensive at times. If you keep an open mind and like an anime that's light on plot and heavy on character development this one is for you, ENJOY!

Summary: Perfect, but no Kiyone!
Review: The Tenchi DVD Boxed Set is a must for any Tenchi fan out there! The series only has 13 espiodes, but that doesn't really matter for a hardcore fan.
"Hello Baby!" is my personal favorite espiode of the series.
The third DVD contains infomation on the characters of the show! The only thing that i don't like is that there's no Kiyone!
Kiyone is one of my favorite characters. I feel sorry for her in Tenchi Universe (and she's a babe to boot!)
The Boxed set contains all 13 espiodes on two discs.

Summary: The uncut Tenchi Muyo! collection, how could you go wrong.
Review: Just like the title says, how could you go wrong? If you liked the Tenchi Muyo! episodes on Cartoon Network then you will love the unedited versions. Also the DVD offers english subtitles that sometimes make a lot more sense regarding the plot.
