Summary: OVA all in one spot? Oh yeah
Review: All the OAV episodes on DVD, THX Certified, re-mixed 5.1 Dolby digital Japanese audio, original 2.0 Dolby digital English & Japanese Audio, plus the new version of the DVD-ROM Hybrid Tenchi Encyclopedia (Version 3.0)? Oh yeah, i'll spend money on that! Then add in scenes from the new Tenchi movie, and you'll get my business in a heartbeat!

Summary: Tenchi Muyo OVA series is a must buy for anime fans.
Review: Tenchi Muyo is a Sci-Fi/Love/Comedy adventure. The series starts out a little slow in the first episode; however, becomes more and more interesting as it progresses. After the first few epsiodes you will be absolutly addicted to this series' unique humor and light heartedness. The story starts with Tenchi(the main character) and his grandfather at a shrine that his grandfather maintains. Tenchi is a very curious teenager and has for years been interested in an ancient tomb that has a legend of a demon being sealed there. His grandfather has warned him not to go there but Tenchi secretly searches for the key that his grandfather keeps. He is caught in the act and is challenged by his grandfather and attempts to retrieve the key from Tenchi. The grandfather is unsuccessful as if intentionallly allowing Tenchi to access the tomb w/o actually appearing to condone it.......here is where it gets interesting. Tenchi now having what he sought after goes to the cave where the tomb is located and opens the doors that have kept him out for so long. At the end he sees a container that holds a sword that in legend supposedly can cut through rocks. He is dissappointed at its deceptive appearance as only a rusty sword and strikes it against a stone next to where he found it. It crumbles in a rust pile as he expects leaving only the hilt behind. Then suddenly the rock he hit splits in two breaking the ancient seal! Behind the rock is revealed a passageway that leads down to a chamber where he discovers the tomb where the mythical demon supposedly lies. He very carefully goes down to the chamber below and sees what appears to be a mummified form in the center of the room. He looks more closely and the forms stirs! Tenchi is absolutly terrified of course and backs away. He runs out as fast as he can get away and tries to reseal the tomb on the way out...rather unsuccessfully I might add. He leaves the area and returns home. The "demon" that resided there is only encased in whatever had sealed it there. Tenchi left before it was fully realeased and had no idea what was really there. He is about to find out soon! When Tenchi enters his room his plops down on his bed and finds a strange lump under his bedcovers! He is startled to find.........hey you don't expect me to tell you what he finds do ya? I am not going to spoil the cliffhanger for the first episode! Buy it and see for yourself! For those of you who could not afford laserdisks when they first came out now you can collect the whole set in at once at a very reasonable price. The DVD also contains an Encyclopedia of Tenchi trivia and details on the other serieses that were spawned from the OVA series. It also contains trailer for the third upcoming Tenchi Muyo movie.

Summary: Meet Tenchi Masaki...a normal teenager...
Review: This 14-episode series, made from the First and Second OVA story-arches, is still the best of the Tenchi settings. In it Tenchi Masaki meets the legendary demoan, Ryoko, a galactic space pirate. He also meets a couple of Royal Princesses, Ayeka and Sasami, a Galaxy Police Detective, Mihoshi, an alien creature, the cute Ryo-Ohki, and the greatest scientific genius in the universe, WASHU! Mystery, space combat and comedy all in one.
Tenchi soon gets into a lot of trouble as he discovers the TRUE history of his family and about the power locked up in his blood.
This collection is the best, even with all the new volumes and improved collections that are now out. The first two DVDs have the first 13 episodes, plus the bonus 14th episode, and the third DVD is the Tenchi Encyclopedia with interviews, info files, trailers and more. This is the perfect way to caught up on the series without paying a lot of cash. Better do it soon, because the Third OVA should be available any day now!

Review: this anime is so funny im not going to wright a long review i just thought id say what i think. this is the funnyest anime i have ever seen it contains well drawn action sceans to.
well i started seing this show on toonami uk beacause its got its own seprate channle i the uk. but after christmas they stoped showing it as well as gundam wing. i was realy angry i emailed them at europe.turnerinfo.com and asked them why. they said that they had no plans to show them again. i was not happy espeshally when they realaced them with samurai jack. so i desided to get the uncut version on dvd it was amazing ive watchted it like 8 times now. eney true tenchi fan will love this dvd.

Summary: The First Collection in the Tenchi Saga
Review: The Tenchi Muyo! DVD Box Set is a tremendous collection. The first series in the Tenchi Saga, "Tenchi Muyo! OVA" isn't the most logically progressing series, but it does introduce us to a set of unforgettable characters and situations that are the essence of comic anime. This DVD set includes the 13 episodes of "Tenchi Muyo!" on two discs, with a third disc containing a wealth of information covering the entire Tenchi Saga - "Tenchi Muyo!," "Tenchi Universe," "Tenchi in Tokyo," and the three movies that followed. This is a great set for anyone who was introduced to Tenchi and his clique, as I was, by Toonami, and is looking for the complete and unedited phenomenon. "Tenchi Muyo!" begins with Tenchi Masaki, a teenage boy, and his grandfather discussing a sealed cave adjoining the Masaki Shrine, a small secluded Shinto shrine in Okayama, Japan. Tenchi manages to wrest the key from his grandfather, and despite warnings from the time of his youth, Tenchi opens the cave. In his exploration, he releases a 'demon' who has been locked in the cave for 700 years. Meet one of the most honest, unrestrained women in animation, the space pirate Ryoko. Tenchi is flabbergasted to find the destructive and emotionally unstable Ryoko has decided to move into his house. These two are shortly joined by Ayeka, the haughty princess of the planet Jurai, and her adorable little sister Sasami. As the series enters its fourth and fifth episodes, we are introduced to the hapless Galaxy Police detective Mihoshi, and finally, the number one genius scientist in the universe, Little Washu. The characters who form the core of the Tenchi Saga are, for the most part, present and accounted for. For me, the absolute highlights of "Tenchi Muyo!" are episodes 6, 7, and 8, "We Need Tenchi," "The Night Before the Carnival," and "Hello Baby." These three consecutive episodes contain all the elements that constitute quality Tenchi animation. In episode 6, we get the drama of succession that challenges Tenchi in each of the three series, wherein he learns of his origins and must grasp the future. In episode 7, we get something perhaps even more important, the contentious relationship between Ryoko and Ayeka, who battle incessantly for Tenchi's affections. This particular episode has always stood out for me as an hilarious classic because they play out this battle using the examples set forth by what are basically romance novels. Episode 8 is one of those which takes one of the women living with Tenchi and does a thorough and deeply-felt examination of her character and history. This time it is Little Washu who finds herself taking care of a small infant. As I said, these are just three episodes, but they epitomize for me some of the enduring facets of the Tenchi Saga. The Tenchi Saga for me has always seemed to center around three principle themes: acceptance, forgiveness, and inclusion. While it may seem initially odd (or a male fantasy) for a teenage boy to live with a bunch of appealing women from outer space, as we learn about all of them, we see that there is something much more profound going on. Three of the main characters, Ryoko (a criminal), Ayeka (whose sense of self-importance is seemingly unlimited), and Washu (an imprisoned mad scientist), are all taken in by Tenchi, his father and grandfather without question and without judgment on their past. The influence this exerts on the development of these characters, on Tenchi himself, and by proxy, on the audience is one of the remarkable feats of each series. Though incomplete (for now at least), "Tenchi Muyo!" is the best place to begin one's association with the Masaki family. The extras in this DVD set are somewhat random, but inclusive of all the Tenchi series and the movies, including a commercial for a Ryo-Ohki doll, and interviews with the young woman who voiced Sakuya in "Tenchi in Tokyo". There are also a large number of textual and visual sketches that are informative and entertaining. All in all, a comprehensive DVD box set. While I would rank both "Universe" and "Tokyo" as series (because they are complete) above "Tenchi Muyo!," "Muyo!" is where it all begins.

Summary: Anime lovers will be pleased!!!
Review: In the beginning of the series they introduce a boy named tenchi and his grandpa. Tenchi is searching for a set of keys that are hidden by his grandpa that leads to the forbidden cave where it was sait that a demon sleeps there. Sure enough tenchi gets a hold of these keys and is on his way to that cave. Once there he finds this old sword that was said to have defeated this demon and without knowing he released the demon. The demon turned out to be a woman whos name was ryoko. After that point all the other characters start to come in. They introduce princess Ayeka and her sister Sasami. Then comes Mihoshi...which isn't exactly the best character on the series. After a couple of episodes they end up meeting the enemy Kagato. Tenchi then arrives to the scene and uses his hidden powers known as the light hawk sword and defeats kagato....which then splits his ship in half. The princess is searching constantly for her brother Yosho so that they could get married...but thankfully they're only half brother and sister. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys seeing anime and has the patience for this type.

Summary: The first, and still the best
Review: Firstly, I'd like to point out that the Editorial, though good, has it's facts wrong. This is the OVA parts 1 and 2, which came first. (The series more familiar to fans is probably the 26 episode TV series.) Note: OVA are a direct to video deal in Japan, but without the negative connotations associated with them in the US.
And currently a third part to the OVA is being released in Japan, so this could be considered a work in progress.
Although it has it's faults, I like the OVA the best of the differrent incarnations of Tenchi Muyo!. The emphasis on lineage and the past help to give the audience a better understanding of the motivations of the characters.

Review: This has a decent story good action and remarkable character developement but is all obsolete when you don,t have enough focus on an actual plot. There are about 10 episodes and the rest are fillers. Yeah if you have plenty of free time go ahead and buy it if you can afford it.
