Summary: Its finally out
Review: Well, it finally made it.
The third and final season of Transformers has been placed on those shiny lil' discs for all to enjoy. I have to admit its a good season, at least as good if not better than the first two. Season three has a much more grown up feel to it. Its darker, and has a bit more grit to some of the tales contained there in.
Its set a full 19 years or so after then end of season two, and just after the end of the moive. Most of the charcters from the frist two instalments are litterally dead and gone and a new gerneration has stepped up to take thier place. Its a passing of the torch, so to speak. New characters take the place of the old, most of them would be considered young and inexperianced if they were people, which of course makes it that much more facinating to watch. The most important addition to the new cast is ofcourse Rodimus Prime, who for all the flack some of the fans give the poor character, Actually was as good of a charcter as Optimus and was a personal favorite of mine.

Also if the remastering on this set is as good as it has been on the movie and the other three sets then it will be something the fans out there will truly love.
Over all i was impressed and Cant wait for the next part.

Review: season 3 is the best season by far out of all the transformer seasons.darker,better music ,and better characters.also it contains my favorite episodes "call of the primitives","grimlock's new brain", and "the big broadcast of 2005".i enjoyed the toy line out at the time of these episodes better also which made me enjoy these even more.excellent!

Summary: To those who hate season 3...
Review: Those who would downplay the importance or legitimacy of season 3 simply don't have the sense or the taste to appreciate a great story. Season 3 brought some of the greatest moments of the entire series--including two well-written returns of Optimus Prime (admitedly his death in Dark Awakening being somewhat glossed over). Season 3 was a perfect follow-up to the movie (perhaps the most under-appreciated animated film ever) as it brought the series out of the kids realm and into a more adult setting. I thought the storylines in Season 3 were much better because the characters were no longer confined to Earth. Galvatron, although given a terrible voice--especially considering Leonard Nimoy did such an awesome job in the movie--was probably the most entertaining of any character in Season 3. His slow decent into madness is both hilarious to watch and believable. All of us who grew up in the 80's were traumatized when nearly all of our favorite characters were killed off in the movie. There was no way the cartoon series could go back to the same kinds of storylines and dialogue from the first two seasons (which of course I love, but they are certainly less mature than the later episodes). Even the stinkers, such as "Carnage in C Minor," perhaps the worst animated episode of any cartoon series, is entertaining in that it's easy to make fun of. I wish the toy company hadn't have gone nuts and created the ridiculous Headmasters line. The most insane thing I've ever seen was the first episode of "Season 4" in which about 150 new characters are introduced. It was too much and it killed the cartoon. Another season like the third would have been nice, but too many new ideas made the show too hard to watch for ten and twelve year olds. In conclusion, the third season of Transformers is at least equal to season 2 if not the first. Let's face it, every season had it's faults--but it's still the best cartoon series ever produced.

Summary: Easily the best season of The Transformers
Review: What was it that made the film "The Empire Strikes Back" so great? It was the films overwhelming sense of cold and darkness. But this is "The Transformers" we are talking about. 19 years have passed since the end of season 2 and the beginning of season 3. And Season 3 is a lot colder, darker, and edgier. The series does not pull any punches anymore when it comes to seeing the heroes getting beaten. And this time there are more enemies for our good friends, the Autobots to worry about. There is a new enemy, and I suppose in a real way there is a surprise as to who these new enemies are, the twist is revealed in "Five faces of Darkness" parts 1-5. You may notice a few very noticable flaws in animation this season, but it still does not matter how many there are. Transformers obviously has conquered the skeptical dumbass critics out there and has become with this third season DVD set established itself as one of the greatest cult classics of all time.

Summary: Season 3
Review: Ok, lets just set the record straight about season three of transformers. The is the best season of transformers without a doubt. I think those that hate season 3 need to be more honest as to why they hate which is simply the absence of optimus prime. Overall, this season had as much bad animation as the previous season and was the only season that attempted to make sense of the transformers history. The series "grew up" during the third season making a lot more enjoyable than the first two season. Gone are the kiddy silly story lines as well as the wonderful silly phrases like megabum, decepticrumb, and deceptikitty. The is the first seaosn that actually had any real continuity written into it giving us the origin of the transformers and staying constitated. One of the great errors in the entire transformers series was the abrut return of optimus prime after his zombiefied body was destoyed in dark awakeing, which was an well-written and awesome end to optimus prime. Those that hate season three obviously did not view the entire season and so incorrect comments are made about the season putting in a bad light with those that havent seen the season. Season has some of the best characters, stories, and battle scenes of the entire series. The autobots now are less handicaped and dont have to wait for optimus prime to come and save them. The decepticons are not plotting some hairbrained scheme to still energy from earth. Both groups are fully functioning armies as they should be. The additions of the quintessons adds to the overall quaility of the show and we see that the autobots/decepticons war is a threat to the entire galaxy and not just earth and cybertron.
I strongly recommend this to all transformer fans especially those that have a grude against season 3. This is the season that made transformers memorable

Summary: The Transformers DVD Sets Near Their Conclusion!
Review: This 'score' of 5 stars is, of course, based on the episodes contained in the first half of season three. Although many fans won't be quite as familiar with this, the last season, of the Transformers series, it provided a good continuation and development of the new characters introduced in Transformers: The Movie. Gone are Optimus Prime and Megatron; now, Rodimus Prime and Galvatron take the reins as the Transformers' war reaches new heights (although Optimus Prime does indeed return to lead the Autobots again near the end of the series...). The show took on a more sci-fi feeling with this season, as we see a great deal more of the galaxy with the Transformers frequently leaving Earth (and Cybertron) for places new and unknown. Many new characters continue to be introduced, such as favorites Metroplex and Trypticon (the biggest Transformers yet, excluding Unicron), the Technobots and Terrorcons, Sky Lynx, and the awesome Predaking. Many popular staples of the show remain, though, such as the Dinobots, including the ever-popular Grimlock, the Aeirialbots, a guest spot by Omega Supreme, as well as the duplicitous Starscream... or rather, his ghost! The show matured a great deal this season, both in creativity and characterization, and although Season 3's animation was a mixed bag, the series' absolute watermark high-points in animation, 'The Call of the Primitives' and 'The Rebirth' trilogy, look good even today next to modern anime. This first half of Season 3 should include about 16 or 17 of the show's remaining 33 episodes. I sincerely hope that Rhino (are you listening, Rhino?) includes the Rebirth Trilogy on the end of the Season Three, Part 2 Boxed Set. Although Rebirth was technically the opening storyline for what was to be a fourth season (the plug was pulled before any more were aired), it is arguably the finest Transformers story ever done, and certainly among the finest animation television cartoons have ever seen, and unequivocally deserves to be a part of the Transformers DVD Boxed Set Collections. I'm a little surprised to see that this set will be only three DVDs, as the estimated number of episodes - 16 or 17 - is the same as the First Season DVD Boxed set, which contained 4 discs. I hope this is not a sign that Rhino is cheapening the quality of their Transformers DVDs! It appears that Rhino has simply realized, after the fat 7 episodes-per-disc treatment in the Season Two boxed sets, that they simply didn't need as many discs as they used in Season One, which averaged only 5 episodes per disc. The box will probably look a little slimmer than the other sets, though, as it contains one less disc, so from a strictly aesthetic standpoint, that's a bit of a bummer. Still, it's a tiny issue if the Transformers can be finished in DVD sets!! I, like many others, have been rather non-plussed by the extras in these sets, but I suppose Rhino realizes that the extras won't make or break their purchase for most of us, so the extras are really just that - extra. The meat of all of these sets is obviously the shows themselves, and they look pretty darn good for their age - we thank you, Rhino, for taking the time to master these to their best possible video quality. Likewise, the fact that Rhino remastered them in (albeit rather subdued) Dolby Digital 5.1 surround is simply an added (and huge!) bonus. With superb video & audio quality, the most important - indeed, critical - bases are covered. Interviews with such luminaries as Peter Cullen and Frank Welker (Optimus Prime and Megatron, respectively) would be huge additions to the final set, should you choose to pursue it, Rhino. And we'd still all *LOVE* to see an animorphic widescreen DVD release of the movie, as well, perhaps as a crown after Season Three, Part 2 to end the Original Transformers Saga on DVD! As a side note, how many fans think it would be utterly awesome to see a new Transformers movie - using the same dialog and voices is the classic, simply dubbed over brand-spanking new animation?! How cool would THAT be?! :) Almost there, Transfans! One more season to go! Thanks, Rhino, and keep it up! Transform, and roll out!

Summary: Finally the third season is here
Review: My rating is based on the episodes, seeing as how the DVD isn't out yet. It would be cool if someone posted exactly which eps are on here. At least I know Five Faces Of Darkness will be one of them. It was a great follow-up to Transformers- The Movie. The animation wasn't the best, but the stories and characters more than make up for it. I will surely buy this DVD.

Summary: G1's Darkest Hour
Review: These episodes of "The Transformers" ran from 1986 to 1987. I'm not too familiar with all of the aspects of the series. There are some white spots on the picture, but this is understandable considering the age of the original master tapes. An original audio track is finally provided, so we can listen to the audio in its original mono instead of the stereo tracks with the added sound effects that Rhino created for the Seasons 1 and 2 sets. The extras are nice (including 5 "...and knowing is half the battle" PSAs done by the TFs made for air during Season 2 but which went unaired and unseen until now), but there aren't enough. Even though they include all of the character profile segments at the end of the episodes, they also have them for view separately - but not all of them, which makes no sense. I wanted more interviews. I wanted the scripts. I wanted Year 3 toy commercials. Now onto the actual story. The first 16 of the 30 episodes of Season 3 are in this set. They're presented in original air order, not production order. Most of the characters aren't developed beyond stereotypes. Season 3 is generally considered to be the weakest season of the G1 series by Transformers fans, though some fans disagree and consider Season 3 to be their favorite. The animation quality is worse than Seasons 1 and 2. A lot of characters were killed off in the Movie and were replaced by generally unlikeable characters. Rodimus Prime is a poor substitute for Optimus Prime, though some fans prefer a flawed Autobot leader. Galvatron, despite being cool in the Movie, is a wimp in Season 3. His thought circuits must have been fried, because he's deranged in Season 3. Megatron was a far cooler villain than this poser. With the Autobots finally in control of Cybertron (which the Movie failed to explain), Season 3 is more space-oriented with less episodes taking place on Earth than in Seasons 1 and 2. While this makes the series more epic, it loses the human touch, which makes it seem cold and distant. There's a greater female presence in Season 3 with the additions of Arcee and Marissa Fairbourne to the series, but it's a shame that Carly turned into a wimp. Grimlock's back, unfortunately. I hate him. Wheelie is annoying, too, but Spike's son, Daniel, isn't. Robots are finally able to be destroyed in Season 3. "Dark Awakening" features a brief return of Optimus Prime before his final return at the end of Season 3, but they put the later airing on this set - with the narrator's voice-over instead of Rodimus Prime, which not only ruins the mood but references an episode that isn't even on this set. Still, this is an entertaining cartoon series and worth the purchase, even though it'll probably be cheesier than you remember from childhood. For those of you that missed it when it was on TV, this is your chance to see it.

Summary: Out with the old...
Review: I bought this just because, back when they originally aired, the cartoon was moved to a time I couldn't watch it -- so I wanted to see them. They're not good. Good from a nostalgia standpoint, but pretty bad otherwise. I'm somewhat ok with the Quintessons as a manipulative third party, but it's tough to swallow that they didn't attack, say, right after Megatron and Optimus and everyone else left because the planet was dry of energy. Carnage in C Minor? Yegods -- Cop Rock. . . in a cartoon. . . with robots. . . The animation is almost laughably bad and stilted in parts, and they clearly cut corners with stuff like cutting episodes to 20 minutes and adding recycled "primer" shorts. Lots of goofs, too -- combiners alongside their components, incorrect coloring, etc. It makes the animation in the second season look like Disney masterpieces. The plotlines are gimmicky. Galvatron is one-note. One saving grace is Cyclonus, who has a great voice and carries himself as the dignified warrior. The idea that Rodimus is still learning the ropes is a decent enough premise, but they wrote him with zero charisma or natural leadership qualities. Great for a single viewing for a hardcore Transfan, but I'll be selling mine used, I doubt I'll rewatch them.
