Summary: Sailor Moon Season One Boxset
Review: There are plenty of good and bad things about this set, but let's start with the good. One good thing is the packaging. Nice and compact and it looks really good on my shelf. The back of each case has the episode name, number, and disc. On the inside, there is a brief summary with landmarks. And you CAN turn of subtitles even though it's not a menu option. I'm not sure all DVD remotes have this button, but if you press 'Subtitle' you can turn them off. Now for the bad. The audio really sucks (VERY soft), and the picture could use some work. There aren't really any menus or extras, and *what* is with that trailer in the beginning of each disc? "What is Anime?" Well I think anyone buying this boxset would know what anime is, considering how expensive! Use your heads, ADV! But I do have to say the good points triumph over the bad points. Buy!

Summary: Wonderful
Review: I've been a fan of Sailor Moon for a few years now, but I'd never seen the full, uncut versions. So, I bought this. Admittedly, the animation isn't fantastic, but you have to remember: THIS SHOW WAS MADE IN THE '90's!!! considering that, it's absolutely wonderful! ^_^If you've only seen the dubbed version, you're missing out on A LOT, which makes this all the more worth getting. Yes, this could have been done better, you may think that when you start watching it, I did. But if you still think that by the end of the season...there's something wrong with you. I honestly felt that the slightly simplistic style adds to the shows charm....Well, anyway, I hope that helps. Ja ne! ^_^

Summary: Good Episodes to Introduce Sailor Moon
Review: All the episodes in Sailor Moon Season 1 are really good episodes to introduce Sailor Moon to FIRST time viewers. For the older viewers, it's NOT REALLY NECESSARY to get it, unless you think the dubbed versions were terrible. Seaon 1 is worth to buy if the older viewers REALLY wants to watch the JAPANESE VERSION AND UNCUT SCENES that did not show up on Cartoon Network(only few uncut scenes were cut out) Sailor Moon Season 1 does not have ALL THE EPISODES that showed up on TV. Even though there are total of 46 episodes in Sailor Moon Season 1, but it still gave a good introduction of beginning of Sailor Moon for FIRST TIME VIEWES.

Summary: good intentions...poor folowthrough
Review: If you intend to make a bare-bones DVD, at least try to make sure the video and audio are up-to-par. Not to mention preview and opening placements. It is as if all the money for this project was placed into the box art itself. This is a real shame for stateside fans who have waited so long. ADV could have gotten better quality just by ripping the R2 import DVD's, slapping a sub-title track on it, and selling that. Many people would have been willing to pay more if the quality was worth it. A real shame that Pioneer didn't wind up with the license. The worst part of this is that ADV has nowhere to go if they even wanted to make a better quality version.

Summary: The Japanese version makes it more than a kid's show!
Review: I recently spent the weekend with a friend watching the complete first season of Sailor Moon. We'd both seen the English versions on tv years ago when it came out, but the Japanese set blew us away. It's superior in so many ways it's hard to know where to begin. You get more detail in all the episodes, as well as half a dozen episodes that were deleted altogether in the American showings. The relationships (platonic and otherwise) are more defined, and the harsher details aren't glossed over. The last 6 episodes (which were edited heavily in the English version) alone are worth getting these DVDs. I recomend this for first time viewers as well as anyone who thought they've seen every episode.

Summary: Great show but disappointing set
Review: I was so excited to hear that they were providing the complete set of sailor moon on a DVD set but I was sorely disappointed by the lack of detail and quality. First off, the sound is terrible. Nevermind that I don't speak/understand Japanese but the feelings of the voice still come through (ie: anger / excited/ sadness ... ); that is, IF I COULD HEAR IT !! The sound is so bad I can barely hear the vocals and the background music isn't much better. I don't know why there is a "dolby" symbol on the box. Secondly, there are no special features or even creative title screens. I would have loved to see fan-art/ commenatary / or optional english dialogue for comparison.
I've been waiting for this for a long time but I feel like they just milked the fans for money. If you are a diehard sailor moon fan I would still buy it but know what you are getting so you won't be disppointed like me.

Summary: The strength of the episodes carries this set
Review: Ignore the dubbies posting their reviews before the set even came out. This is *real* Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon, and by Jove, it's incredible. Allow me to begin by addressing the one major concern of this set: the audio. I have to admit, it is highly disappointing...however, this is not the fault of ADV Vision, but rather of the Japanese producers, Toei. ADV Films made the DVDs off the masters Toei provided them, and so they are not to blame for the drop in quality. Toei is responsible for sending such poor masters. The video quality is decent, considering the age of the show. This is an *old* show...it first aired in the early 90's. Subtitling is decent; almost up to speed with Pioneer's efforts on the Cardcaptor Sakura releases. There are some things which apparently were rather difficult to translate properly, so they just did the best they could. The packaging is excellent; the outer box features a classic design, and the inner packages (although featuring a more gaudy and obnoxious image) are nifty...I rather like the cases; I don't understand everyone else's problems with them. Quite frankly, it's the strength of the episodes that lifts this set up to four stars, and that's a good thing, because this is a bare-bones release. No extras, no fancy menus, just a somewhat crude episode selection and the episodes themselves. Believe me, the content of these more than compensate for the lack of "trimmings". These are far superior to the godawful kid's show DiC mangled this series into. In other words, ignore the dubbies (well, just the ones who *tipe lik ths*) who were posting negative reviews *before the set came out* (and therefore before they could legally have seen the episodes, short of flying over to Japan and buying them there) and buy this set!

Summary: Sound Problems anyone??
Review: Wow I was so excited when I heard this was coming out. I paid [money] for it and was expecting it to be great. Unfortunatley when I watched it the sound was so incredibly [bad] that it was hard to watch. Is anyone else having sound problems? The title menu is a joke. They didn't even try to add any extra's or even a menu they just went to scene selection. Dont get me wrong I love sailor moon and the japanese series is good I watched it but this dvd is so bad. the sound sounds so far away and you have to turn the sound way up to hear it. I def don't think it was worth [money]. I am not a happy moonie.

Summary: Good series, bad quality
Review: I must say that I am very dissappointed in ADV Films. I would first like to say that the Japanese version of Sailor Moon is very good, and everyone should experence it somehow, at least once. Unfortunately, the quality of this DVD boxset from ADV Films turned out to be very badly done. First of all, you have the bad audio. It seems like the sound is louder in the opening credits, but is lower in the rest of the episode. 2nd of all, you have the infamous Episode 24, in which it seemed like the screen always looked scractchy whenever the camera moved. The quality of the DVDs does improve a bit in some of the later discs, but it is still not all that great. Don't get me wrong. I love the Japanese version of Sailor Moon, I just didn't love the quality of these DVDs. If you're just a casual anime fan, who already has planned on buying something else, but changed their mind and wanted to get this, I'd recommend buying that something else. I wouldn't be in any hurry to get this boxset (unless you find it on sale). But if you're a diehard Sailor Moon fan who's been wanting to see the Japanese version, then please buy this DVD boxset. I give the first season of Sailor Moon 4 stars, but give the DVDs themselves a 2 star.

Summary: Once I saw it ... I had to get it!
Review: Finally! I have been waiting for this to come out for a while ... This item is a must get for all Sailor Moon moonies /°^-^°\ If you like the American version, you'll LOVE this! Totally uncut, lots of action, and it gives you a better understanding of the whole show. The only problems with it is the clearity (but thats just a given since it was made a while ago) and, for me, there were to many "up-skirts". Oh well, *sigh* thats anime for you I guess ...
It was really cool to be able to see all the things that weren't in the American version. The DVDs even come in a really nice box ^o^ I highly recomend this item for anyone who really likes Sailor Moon and is curious to what they're missing!
