Summary: Excellent set with a few flaws
Review: INTRODUCTION:
It was in 1992 that the Sailor Moon anime series first aired on Japanese television. The series was based on a manga (Japanese comic book) by Nakao Takeuchi, and for the most part it was a faithful recreation of its manga counterpart. Three years later the series arrived in America - well, sort of. The dialogue was butchered, some entire episodes didn't even air, and some characters not name and even sex changes! Fans of the original have wanted the uncut episodes in America for many years - and at long last, their wish has been answered. Read on for my review of this set.BASIC PLOT:
This is the first of five sagas of the Sailor Moon series, and it is often referred to as the "classic" series. It this series, Sailor Moon is awakened, as are the other four "Inner" Senshi - Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus. The five are brought together to battle a series of villains led by the evil Queen Beryl - a group of villains who want to conquer the universe. SERIES OPINIONS:
This was a great way to start a classic series, and at long last, it can be enjoyed in all its uncut glory. This series lacks the polish of, say, the S series, but it's still an excellent beginning of a great series. I can't stress it enough - if you're going to watch this show, watch the uncut original. DVD:
The DVD is great because it contains uncut episodes with English subtitiles, but the audio isn't too great, as a number of other reviewers have pointed out. Also, the extras are severely lacking. They should have included some interviews with the series creators or original production art as extras - those would have been nice little extras. OVERALL:
Overall I feel this is an excellent set. If you're new to Sailor Moon, this is the best place to start, being that it's the first part of the series, and that it's now available completely uncensored. I recommend this set to any fan of Japanese animation.

Summary: "Wow" can be bad as well as good...
Review: Like many people, Sailor Moon was one of my first glimpses into the world of anime. We suffered through the horrible chop job of DiC dubbing. Naturally when I heard this boxed set was to be released, I was very excited. But then, I bought it. Fortunately I was able to find the set for only $50, and that is the maximum anyone should pay for the thing. The audio is horrible horrible horrible, and I cannot stress horrible enough. It sounds (and looks) like an 8th generation fansub VHS tape. You have to turn the volume way up to even hear the thing, which, may I mention, often sounds like it's in mono. The picture is dark and fuzzy. I'll be the first to say I enjoy Sailor Moon, but this is just a slap in the face to years of fans trying to get something like this on the market. ADV should be ashamed of this terrible piece of merchandise. Why would they put something this low-quality out for sale, then expect people to pay so much for it? I hate to say it, but don't waste your money on this unless you can find it for under $100. It really is wonderful to have all the episodes of Sailor Moon's first season, but at what price? ADV has let down thousands of fans with this travesty. Please don't buy unless you are a diehard fan.

Summary: Not the Greatest, but Still Great!
Review: I just got this for christmas last year (and sorta broke the casing...wouldn't reccomend opening two of the things in a case at once, it won't work...*sheepish look*...it was all my fault, so I don't expect you to have the same problem...) and I love it so much! I've only watched it once all the way through, but that's more because I have lots to do when I'm at home than that I don't like it, because I do. The audio isn't bad....well, that's a lie, it's bad, but if you crank up the volume on the TV and DVD it comes out just fine(and if you have a stereo hooked up it sounds REALLY cool)and a side note, watch out for the opening and ending songs, they get LOUD if you follow the above suggestion....unless you like that kind of thing. *shrugs* Oh, and in certain places there is a crackling sound in the background, but that goes away as soon as the "camera" view is moved, so no biggie. The video definately isn't the greatest, but I've seen WAY worse...have any of you only had one version of the Labyrinth, taped off of Disney chanel back when there were no commercials on a very old VCR for several years? Well if not, I can tell you for sure that that is much, much worse. In certain scenes it gets a little blurry, but this was an old anime, what more can you expect? Yet, in spite of all these faults, this is still a 5 star DVD. Where the Audio and Video is lacking, the episodes are definately worth it. I really love the one where they go to a hotel where the workers dress as monsters (which really freaks Usagi, and sometimes Rei, out, which makes for some super funny moments) I'd tell you the name of the episode, but that would mean moving and I'm just not up to doing that for the moment ^.^ Plus you get all of the cut episodes (including the mentioned one above) In short, I'd definately reccomend this DVD!

Summary: La¿ Luna
Review: Naoko Takeuchi's Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, the uncut edition. Is finally available in the United States for the first time. Though in Japanese with English subtitles, it's totally worth viewing considering how damaged it's been here in the States.
There are even some lost episodes and jokes that are in the set. Some of the episodes' format isn't that great in some episodes. However, if you can get past that then it's defiantly worth seeing.
This is a really good introduction to kids ( especially girls. ) Who want to get interested in the anime/manga media. All though there are a tun of cult favorites to pick out and watch.
I really do like this one even though I haven't seen it in a while.
The Japanese don't stray from topics like homosexuality ( though not dealt in this season,) and other subjects that us Americans often stray away from in children's media.
A lot of fun for girls that dream bout being a supper heroin and their prince.
The only thing I can suggest is maybe getting it some were like BestBuy or Target and so forth, because the price is much better.

Summary: The Moonlight Carries the Message of Love...
Review: Over ten years after the series aired in Japan; eight years since the dub was released, the first season of Sailor Moon is now available in the USA in uncut original form. Its been a long wait. My thanks to ADV for bringing us these DVDs. Once upon a time in Tokyo, there was a middle school student named Usagi Tsukino. She was clumsy, didn't get the best grades, and her favorite things to do were play videogames and eat sweets. All in all, a very ordinary girl. But one day that simple life was changed forever; a cat named Luna appeared in her bedroom window and proclaimed that Usagi was a warrior who would save Earth from the evil powers of the Dark Kingdom. Like it or not, and she definately DIDN'T like it, Usagi was Sailor Moon, the defender of Love and Justice. As she fights against the Dark Kingdom, Sailor Moon finds other girls who were destined to be Sailor Soldiers; encounters the mysterious Tuxedo Mask, who may or may not be her enemy; and discovers just how strong she really is. Love, friendship, the power of believing, these are the things that Usagi represents. Sailor Moon is an excellent show for all ages. There are moments where you laugh out loud and moments that bring you to tears. The Japanese cast delivers a truely stirring performance, and the original music composed for the series only hightens one's enjoyment. Unlike the dub, nothing is "dumbed down" nor is the moral-of-the-day 'Sailor Says' section part of the Japanese show. As far as age goes, I think that kids 7+ should be able to watch these DVDs. Younger children might want parents handy for some sad scenes. Violent content is minimal with the exception of a few episodes, even then there isn't any gore; when the Sailors tranform they are shown as sparkly silouettes; and there are a few minor swear words. Overall, the uncut version of Sailor Moon is about a PG, which fits with its target age of girls 7-14. I recommend that everyone buy this boxset. It's an experience you'll treasure forever.

Summary: A diamond in the rough.
Review: I would love to be able to give this five stars, the story deserves it. Unfortunatly the box set itself is a little disappointing. The audio quality is pretty poor with the sound fading in and out at odd times as well as being rather tinny. I know some of this may simply be due to the fact that the series didn't have a big budget for sound in the begining but seriously, it's been 11 years since the series came out. It's not that hard to clean it up a little is it? Anyway another point of note for those of you who were looking to have both the english language track and the japanese language track in one DVD, this isn't it. This has only the japanese language track with english subtitles. Aside from the technical issues with the DVD, I absolutely loved the story itself. I ended up watching the whole set in about two days because I couldn't put it down. So in spite of the technical problems with this edition, I do recommend it for any Sailor Moon fan or anybody who like me doesn't enjoy the english dubs for anime and is interested in seeing a bit of Sailor Moon. However, I do not recommend this for the very young Sailor Moon fans who aren't up to reading subtitles very quickly just yet.

Review: When I was a little kid at that time,I used to remember how cool Sailor moon was in the japanese version when it had so many secrets in the episodes and had more fighting parts to the story.Now,I can see the whole thing again,on dvd.

Summary: Best Sailor Moon Veiwing Experience Ever
Review: This DVD set is by far the best realease of a Sailor Moon Video. People are complaining about the sound quality, well dont listen to them, the sound is fine. I had read another complaint about the screen shaking, well that i did find, but onlu if you fixate on the screen to see the movement. If you are just watching the show it is no problem. The retail price is a little high, through Amazon Market place you can find it cheeper, but i would still have paid full price for this set. 5 stars, can't wait to get the second season...

Summary: It's About Time!!!
Review: Personally, I would buy this if your just one of the unlucky or unfornate people that never got to see the true last episode, aka, "Day of Destiny" which in reality is two episodes long. It will bring you to tears or VERY close to them. And yes the sound is lacking, and it does look like someone stood there with a camera and shook it as it was filmed, but trust me, it's easy to get over when you see some of your favorite, classic episodes of Sailor Moon, espically the uncut versions and "lost episodes" such as the one where Sailor Moon goes to a bar, the one where the Mars, Mercury, and Moon go to a haunted house on their vaction, or the one with Sailor Venus past, which episodes never aired in the dubbed English version. The jokes are funnier, and the episodes are relitivly longer because everything was left in (any nudity or violence), so there won't be that thing where you watch Sailor Moon says and are just like "Hey! That never happened in the show!" And another thing is all the sexes are finally correct, such as Ziocite or however you spell it being a male instead of a female. Scary but true. But as I stated, anyone who has always wondered what was the real ending of "Day of Destiny", with each Sailor's death and the true fight behind Serena and Darian (which was awsome) not to mention the Japanese music, (or the orginal Sailor Moon Music) than definatly by this box set...then go for the second season.

Summary: Get it, you'll love it. Stop whining about the sound.
Review: Seems like everyone's crying about the quality here. To tell you the truth, when I started watching it, I'd notice the edges of the screen seemed to move...like someone was videotaping without a tripod. But as soon as I started actually watching the show, I didn't notice at all. Several people have complained about the sound, but you can hear everyone just fine. Like I said, you hardly notice it. Fact is, you can get it for 50 bucks around here (from individual sellers through Amazon, click on "buy new and used"), and thats GREAT. Anywhere else is 150. If all you've ever seen is the stupid DIC version, and you loved it anyway, this is like your painfully ugly child finally going to prom and looking like a queen. The jokes are funnier, the plots make more sense, and the fight scenes are OH SO MUCH COOLER. One thing that really stuck out was the final battle with Queen Beryl, and the scouts "deaths" beforehand. In the Dic version, they tell you the scouts are "in the negaverse". In the real version, they actually die. In very cool ways I might add. You just like them more...for actually being heroic. Some Episodes were edited to death in the Dic version, like Serena's first kiss. Fun and important stuff was cut out for no reason. Also, this collection has whole EPISODES that Dic took out. Such as the Episode devoted to telling you about Venus' old british boyfriend. A seriously cool story. All in all, you'll get the same characters you fell in love with, better explained, funnier, more personable, more extreme, and with more story behind all of them. Oh, and Zoisites a boy.
