Summary: Ups and Downs.
Review: Well, I'll be honest: when I first saw Atlantis, I was awestruck. I thought the graphics and special effects were just incredible...because they are. Near the beginning of the movie, a submarine has a struggle with a sea dragon, and it looks as lifelike as anything I saw in any previous effort. In fact, it nearly surpasses the parting of the waters in "Prince of Egypt."

This, however, is not Prince of Egypt. Nor is it a kid's Disney movie. Even the Rescuers movies, which were short on music and were a bit serious, could be followed by children. Disney sure has strayed from the regular path quite a bit since it's last happy happy film, Aladdin, with movies like Hunchback of Notre Dame and this latest release.

It's just too confusing for children, and even confusing for adults. Why does Disney feel the need to shove this new age resurrection mumbo jumbo at us? And why all the preachiness about the evvvvvil guys who are greeeeeeeedy?

The production values as always are top-notch, and the artists do a fantastic job creating Atlantis on screen. The story isn't that great though, and the violence factor is pretty high.

This is a movie that doesn't succeed as a kids' film or as an adults' film. Disney had better get their act together and take a long hard look at their successful run of movies between The Little Mermaid and The Lion King.

Summary: Animation Not Typical Disney -- But Great Fun All The Same!
Review: Before going to see Atlantis: The Lost Empire, I saw previews of it -- and I have to say I was shocked at the animation. It really didn't appear to be the typical Disney detailed animation. But the animation seemed to get better and better as the movie went on. As always, this is a must-see Disney creation. From a teenage genius mechanic, to a pyromaniac, the crew that the main character travels with is great fun. The humor is good, and so is the villian. Atlantis is a bit more mature than the typical Disney movie - although I don't think any special discretion needs to be used when taking your kids to see this movie. Complete with a happy ending, this is a wonderful film. You have to see Atlantis!

Summary: Finally, a Disney movie worthy of Walt himself!
Review: I just saw this at the movies and cannot for the life of me figure out why so many people are bashing it! It is a wonderful movie! My entire family loved it! Atlantis is genuinely funny. The plot is original and exciting. The characters are well-developed and extremely likeable. Anyone who does not like Atlantis has no idea what a great family film is. They complain about the chain smoking thing...so what? It's in real life, and we can't keep it out of the movies just because it's bad. People will refuse to do it because they don't want to, not do it because they see it in a movie. Do yourself a favor,... and go see this terrific movie. Sure, Disney's drawings of humans are going down the drain, with square fingers and all. But that doesn't hurt this film's quality. There is no corny, re-hashed junk like in so many others. They don't stop at various points in the story to sing dumb songs. And the voices are excellent. Just because Atlantis is action-packed and not perfectly innocent like some of the older Disney movies doesn't make it bad. If Disney himself had made this people would be adoring it. Give the new Disney movie makers some credit, they've finally made a really good one!

Summary: Atlantis: The Lost Empire Movie
Review: In my opinion it is a must see for children of all ages. My children and I thoroughly enjoyed this animated tale. My children have been talking about it since we seen it on opening day and they couldn't wait to tell their dad all about it.

Summary: atlantis: the copy cat
Review: this is another example of disney's hardwork in copying the story frame of other movies. the japanese's 'laputa: the castle in the sky' (http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Bay/6800/laputa/), which is a 12-year-old movie, has the exact same story frame.

the difference is -- the atlantis is talking something burried under the sea.

Summary: having the same story frame of a japanese movie
Review: this is another version of disney's hardwork in copying other's story frame (a 12-year-old japanese movie, translated to english as 'a city in the sky'). very disappointed.

Summary: Too complex for me
Review: I wouldn't waste your money on this movie because it is to complex to understand. Definetly one of the worst Disney movies, right up there with Pocahontas. There are way too many characters in this movie that are not developed and none of them are likeable or that you can relate to. The worst part was that they tried to give this movie "the Disney Formula" where you have to have to characters fall in love. Please if you want to go see a good Disney movie that doesn't use the Disney formula that came out resently spend your money on renting the Emperor's New Groove an great movie that is easy to understand and doesn't follow the Disney formula.

Summary: Someone should put Disney out of their misery
Review: Disney hasn't made a decent movie since the Lion King. Since then, their films have been kiddie fare with plots and characters as deep as a puddle.

Now they are trying to appeal to the sought-after teen audience. First they tried with the CGI Dinosaur, which was a spectacular flop. Then they tried with Atlantis, which is pretty much also a flop (Shrek is crushing it).

Atlantis tries to look hip and mature with an array of machinery, some cartoon violence, and some slightly-above-average humor. Unfortunately tDisney just dosen't get it. Just because a film is rated PG instead of G does not make it a more intense movie, nor does it draw a broader audience. Atlantis's plot is rushed and confused (makes sense, since the plot was ripped of from a 39-episode series called NADIA), and its characters are, as usual, one-dimensional and stereotyped. Not even the character designs are very impressive.

Note to Disney: You want to get back your reputation and some teens into your audience? Then fire your writers, and get the people who did Watership Down, or even Princess Mononoke.

Atlantis gets 2 stars for some impressive eye candy.

Summary: Atlantis: Not Your Adverage Disney Movie!
Review: Upon watching the previews for Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empier you may think that Disney is just making anouther kids movie that will bore you to death! Not the case here. Because after watching this movie you will relise that Disney (For once) has strayed away from their cute kiddy movies, and have made a movie more for the adult's! This movie is Disney's fist PG rated film since The Black Cauldron, and I think they've re-entered the adult movie market the right way! What we have here is a well thought-out movie with some good plot twists, adult humor, action, lots of weapons (Including paper clips. Big ones!), and a style the adults will be more comfertable with! Just for the side note this movie resembles the anime Nadia: Secrets of The Blue Sea a lot! Thank you!

Summary: Thoroughly Enjoyable "Indiana Jones"-esque adventure!
Review: I enjoyed this film immensely. It's been SO long since there's been a really good old fashioned adventure like the aforementioned Indiana Jones movies (well, the first and third ones, anyway) and this movie really helps in filling that void. The pacing is strong, the voice acting is great, and the supporting cast is quirky and amusing. This is an ideal 'first date' movie as well as one that will keep the entire family entertained.
