Summary: La Femme Nikita goes Anime!
Review: Kite is in one word awsome! The story line is incredible and the animation is great. A young girl arrives home one day to find her parents murdered. She is taken in by the investigating officer who takes advantage of her. He then trains her to become assassin killing those the law can not touch. Yet when the young assassin meet young boy in the same line of work she is in questions about her profession and those she trusts soon rise. This is a ultra violent film that while it is only about an hour long is still one of the better titles you will be able to get your hands on. It should also be mentioned that the mature conent of the young girl and her new found gaurdian's relationship is handled with taste, not with trash like Golgo 13:Queen Bee. For those of you looking for a hard core action film with an ending that will certainly stun you then you need look no farther. In all fainess I must also say that this film is much better than the "Professional" but not quite as dramatic or intense as "La Femme Nikita".

Summary: Disturbing and Unique
Review: When I saw this film the first time I said what the hell, that's not your usual anime flick. And indeed I was right. If you are looking for a more serious anime with lots of spectacular action, great pulp fiction like storyline (without the humor of it) and it doesn't disturb you that there isn't a single normal person around, then it's a must see for you.

Summary: Really cool
Review: I saw this video, and it was really cool! Watashiwa Kite ga sukidesu! It was really good, but the movie was kinda short, and so the characters aren't extremely well developed, but the end is a realy surprise. Everyone is like "I don't understand the ending!" If u watch carefully, and pay attention to what everyone says, you will understand the ending. So, i would recommend this movie, but not to people under 13.

Summary: Fetishistic and unpleasant
Review: Deeply unpleasant story of a young girl who's trained to be an assassin using guns that fire special exploding bullets. Overall tone of the story is a turnoff: the girl is a cipher and everyone else around her is either cynically manipulative or a morally repugnant sleaze. In the filmmaker's minds, that probably justified everything, but there's no real reason for you to watch also. U.S. version is missing a rape scene that is neither integral to the plot or particularly explicit.

Summary: Professional What?
Review: Most of the summaries that I have seen regarding this anime go something like this when talking about the main character; Sawa appears to be an attractive, innocent, and naivee college student on the surface but is a cold-blooded killer. So when I bought this tape I was expecting to see a story about a professional assassin with the perfect cover. This however is not the case. Sawa is by no stretch of the imagination any kind of professional assassin. She is instead an extremely lucky, clumsy amateur assassin. I say amateur because her technique is sloopy, she made several stupid mistakes when it came to attempting to assassinate a target, and I do not honestly believe that she had the kind of skills need to prevent the sort of injuries that she recieved from her carelessness. The mistakes that she made was leaving traceable evidence, and letting her guard down way to easy. What kind of assassin is really that careless? Maybe I should really say a good assassin wouldn't be that careless.I was also expecting Sawa to be one touch chick (like Angel from Angel Cop), but she wasn't tough at all. She was instead a naivee, dependent, sad, abused little girl trapped inside of a woman's body. I felt really sorry for her. The other assassin that she met seemed to have a much better technique and better skills. But he also had his share of flaws, because just like Sawa he was naivee, and let his guard down way too easy for someone in his profession. I hear that this movie has been cut. I would like to see what they took out just so I'd experience the anime the way that the creator had intended. The action sequences weren't all that great, but then again most Japanime action stuff involving guns (such as Cop stuff, assassin stuff) can't even begin to touch live action American movies of the same nature. So I think that this is important to keep in mind when viewing this. Also one of the action sequences was so far beyond the realm of believeablity that it takes away part of the seriousness needed in a film of this nature.

Summary: Save Your Time - Far Better Anime Elsewhere
Review: Rented this on VHS at Bluckbooster. Well animated take on the orphan turned homicidal apprentice plot, but twisted in such a way that it ultimately makes no sense why the orphan puts up with the master at all. Terribly fetishistic when it comes to the best--and dare I say overused--effect: bullets that penetrate their victims, then explode several anxious seconds later. My alternate suggestion: They Were Eleven.

Summary: A Mix of "La Femme Nikita" and "Blade Runner"
Review: Teenage killer-for-hire Kite is good at what she does. This is another Anime where they creators try to balance the character development with some high flying action. They succeed to some extent, but the length of this feature limits what they can do with the story. The animation and voice actors are excellent. This feature tries harder than most from the "girls with guns" jenre of Japanese animation.

Summary: Disturbing, derivative but blessed with amazing sequences.
Review: Though the story owes a lot to french action film director Luc Besson's The Professional and La Femme Nikita (itself based on George Benard Shaw's version of Pygmalion); Yausuomi Umetsu's Kite is an impressive, well-animated directorial debut. Disturbing and violent, it was also one of the most interesting japanese imports I've seen in quite some time, though I must agree with John Wilen; it was a bit rushed, and I do wish it was longer.

Summary: Kite is Excellent!
Review: I wouldn't listen to the people who gave Kite a 1 star. Theanimation in this title is superb and is of very high quality. Iwouldn't recommend this for someone who can't handle excessive violence or swearing. The subtitled version ironically has less swearing than the dub. I really enjoyed the story and I thought it was very original. The reason for the 4 star rating is because there are scenes that did not make it to this version. I feel that these scenes are essential to the storyline and ruins Yasuomi Umetsu's creation or story. All of the scenes are Adult, but I just don't believe in changing a persons work just to make it "ok" for Americans. Even with the cuts to the show it is still a very enjoyable anime.
