Summary: Why I'd stand in line for 6 hours to see this movie again!
Review: First, definitely catch this movie on the big screen if at all possible. Second, buy the soundtrack! It was the "Cowboy Bebop" reputation that convinced me to stand outside in line for 6+ hours at AnimeExpo 2002 last July to catch the first US screening of the new "Cowboy Bebop" movie, "Knockin' on Heaven's Door". The results of my wait, as described below made it worth every minute standing in line with guys dressed like Sailor Moon. This movie took all the enticing elements of the tv series, including the characters, dark humor and irresistable soundtrack and meshed them into a new, stand-alone flick with the cutting-edge animation style deserved. Becoming captivated by Spike's suave methods and personality is only the beginning of the package. Everything about the "Cowboy Bebop" phenomenon just radiates coolness. From the voice acting to the ship designs, the details of this production complement and do justice to this sci-fi/action/comedy/drama animation masterpiece. "Cowboy Bebop" is not part of any easily defined genre, which takes it to the next level in Japanese animation. For example, sometimes Bebop's action has a 70's kung-fu feel and the personality can be reminiscent of an old western. If I had to choose the best thing about this movie, it would be the amazing characters. Mood and music would be close seconds though. This movie is defintely anime candy to fans of Japanese animation, but I think it would appeal to anyone who enjoys cool action movies with a taste for something different.

Review: Ok, I saw cowboy bebop the movie on its opening weekend in seattle. The movie had a great story, plot, music, and animation there is rely nothing bad I can say about it except for the fact that it gets a little slow towards the end. This was the fist time I have been to the theaters to see anime and I was suprised that most of the people there were in there 30's ( It can't be to odd because my mom took me and my friends to see it and she rely liked it).

Review: I saw this movie at the Tivoli Theatre in St. Louis,MO this past Tuesday. I'm a huge anime, manga, hentai fan. All I can say about this movie (and it won't do it enough justice) is that everything about it was incredible. The actor's voices, the animation, the plot, everything was just perfectly in sync. I don't want to go into plot detail hence I might spoil for others who are debating in seeing it. But just to let you know I do enjoy anime movies HIGHLY and have damn near over 50 + in my collection. This one, when it hits DVD status will be in my collection as well.

Summary: Why does great anime get ruined in the US?
Review: I haven't seen the dvd version of this but I have seen both the fan subbed "Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door"(downloaded) and the US version of it "Cowboy Bebop - The Movie"(in theaters). This is a great movie with a good story that is up to par with the show and with music to die for, if you watch the Japanese version. In the US we a get a version that has been, for lack of a better word, raped. The wonderfull bebop music has been replaced with terrible rock, totaly ruining the movie. Don't waste your time on this one.

Review: If this is the future of Cowboy Bebop, then it is alive and well. The movie manages to outdo an excellent TV series and does an excellent job of not being self-concious about it. If there is any drawback, it is that Faye wasn't as much a part of this story as she normally is in the series (although she does play a vital part of the story). Oddly this doesn't detract from the storyline and even if you've seen all the episodes of the series, you will find this movie refreshing. As usual, the writing is original and excellent.

Review: I just saw this movie a few days ago, and -- wow. It was incredible to watch, every bit as good as the series, if not better. The animation is exquisite, extremely beautiful! The characters are very memorable. I loved every minute and didn't want it to end! Quite arguably the best anime movie (at least, I know it was of the ones I've seen).

Summary: Brilliant TV series brought to big screen...
Review: The whole crew is back at Bones (the japanese animation studio that made the bebop TV series) and put out a continuation to Cowboy Bebop that falls inbetween episodes 'Cowboy Funk' and 'brain Scratch'. This time it is a wide screen made for theaters movie. And, sadly, as the ultimate episode made in the Bebop universe it is also the least enticing. But, it is good enough to keep most people interested and entertained. The movie falters slightly from the series in two places. First, the writing. While it isn't a BAD story it just doesn't hit the sort of fascinating revelations the universe unfolded to the Bebop viewer in the series. It takes place in the pretty mundane, contemporary (2003) Alba city on Mars in 2071. Slight excursions go into Morocco town in Alba city, but the inclusion of Morocco town is gratuitous- none of the elements back up the story, but are just diverse visuals. The crew is also poorly placed together to handle the threat of the story. Jet is almost written out of any useful role and becomes a 'nagging mom' on board the Bebop while a chess game in the beginning sets up interplay of Spike and Jet being instinct vs. strategy. The instinct does come into play as Spike miraculously goes looking for clues in all the right places while having NO clue (and admitting it). And the writing also introduces a villain that is cool, enigmatic, but less then the WOW you would expect for the big screen. Also, the plot never becomes WOW enough and remains fairly simple and straight forward. The second flaw of the movie is it's pace. This seemed like a cast aside idea for a half hour show stretched to 1 hour 47 minutes. Points in the anime, where they linger on some fairly featureless far shots devoid of animation while people are talking, began to heavily wear the audience. On the plus side, the art is superb! Toshihiro Kawamoto took a lot more care in the layouts then in most episodes of the series, and his crew of illustrator/animators all did amazing work detailing out luscious backgrounds filled with light, detail and perspective. The characters act lively and maintain their established personalities well. And, of course, the action scenes are incredible. I think these are some of the best fighting and flying scenes from almost any anime movie outside of Porco Rosso. Spikes kung foo fights are realistic, impactful and humorous. Each move is actually thought out (no gratuitous fist shots and speed line, faux excitement!) and it looks like a Jackie Chan Hong Kong flick where props come into play to liven up the action. The quality of the animation line on the big screen was a little garish at points and characters in the middle ground to background sometimes broke up and lost essential features. Bones probably filmed wide angle on regular TV sized animation paper and cropped. However, i have had the japanese DVD for months and this movie looks spectacular on TV. if the American DVD is anything like the Japanese, it is a MUST HAVE for any anime, sci-fi or Bebop fan. This movie was derailed by 9/11 in it's second opening week in Japan, but finally made it to America. And thank goodness it came to theaters because now it is possible for Oscar nomination. I wanted to see this in Tokyo but missed it by one week while on business in 2001.

Summary: Limited release means complete mystery for most of us
Review: No, I haven't seen this. I dragged the family 100 miles to the second-wave release of "Spirited Away" in Des Moines, so you can bet I *would* see it, if it were anywhere close. For the Powers That Be Who Keep Track Of These Things, ABSOLUTELY will I buy the DVD when it comes out! Absolutely. And for those who have never encountered Radical Edward, a.k.a. Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky 4th, the best girl hacker since Skuld Odinsdottir (O.M.G.), you do not have a clue what you're missing! This series bogs down in the interminable bluesy-woozy triangle between Spike, Julia and Vicious, but the comedy involving Faye Valentine and Ed (and Ed's intelligent Corgi, Ein the Data Dog!) is just fine.

Summary: Good to see you again space cowboy...
Review: Having only watched a downloaded version of the movie with english subtitles I must say that these guys have done it again. The story takes place somewhere between the last and second to last episode, the guys are after your average bounty when they uncover a more sinister threat. Containing all of the elements that make Bebop so unique 'Knockin' on Heavens Door' will satisfy even the most sceptical fan. Massive explosions, great fight scenes, a nice long chase scene, and a big 'Bee-Gees' looking bad guy. Man I love this stuff!

Summary: bebop is back; until the revamp manga makes it to television
Review: I still dont know about CB: Stardust other then the story begins all over again with new twists. But until that great release get the series 7-disc collection not the 3 disc horrid import and see this film and buy the probably lacking dvd that will still be sharp and cool as... bebop.
