Summary: its alright
Review: im a die-hard CB fan and i gotta admit, it kinda jumped the shark with the movie. it wasnt bad, in fact its better than most movies that ive seen recently, but the characters seem distant and at times, a little unfamiliar. my review is more for the movie than the DVD because i saw it in Japanese with English subs, but from what ive heard, aside from the standard perks you get with watching DVDs, the english dubbing for the movie is excellent with voices from the original series (except for Spike, who gets help from a different voice actor who sounds like the one were familiar with). i dont want to give to much away so ill just say the plot was kind of generic, as was the bad guy. anyway, if youre a fan, this is a must see, but if youve never seen an episode, pick up a couple sessions first.

Summary: happiness abounds for the Bebop!
Review: Personally i love Cowboy Bebop, so when i heard there was a movie set somewhere in the vicinity of the last episodes, i was all ready to pop on line and buy the japanese version... but before i could do that i learned my local cinema had picked it up!! so this really isn't a review of the DVD but of the movie itself...
trust me, it was well worth the price of a ticket, and will be worth the cost of the DVD. ^_^
The characters are very much the same as their tv episodes show them, the dub is very well done, with the same voices that we're used to listening to in English.
The action sequences are packed, the complications with the interaction of the four (five if you count Ein) cowboys is pointed.

Summary: Satisfactory, but not as good as the series
Review: As an avid "Cowboy Bebop" fan, I was quite excited to see the film. And although the film may be fantastic to those who have never viewed the entire "Cowboy Bebop" series, it certainly doesn't live up to the standard that the series has set. The fight scenes (especially between Spike and Electra) are certainly entertaining, but not climactic. And the ending hardly goes out with the style and pinache that the ending of "Cowboy Bebop" does (episodes "The Real Folk Blues", parts 1 and 2). Overall, I would advise someone to watch this movie, but don't expect it to blow you away like the series does. And to someone who has not seen the series, watch the movie before you partake in the "Cowboy Bebop" experience.

Summary: The Cure for Bebop Withdrawal
Review: This movie has been described as an extended-length episode of the clever and well-shot Cowboy Bebop series; an unfair comparison. Knockin' On Heaven's Door, which assuredly takes place somewhere in the middle of the series, follows bounty hunters (or cowboys) Spike, Faye, Jet, Ed and Ein in pursuit of a tremendous 300,000,000 wooloong bounty by the name of Vincent, who has the capacity and drive to remove everyone from the face of the planet. It does sound like just another episode, with raised stakes, but the movie offers more than just that. The art and "camera" movement are much more polished than the series, and the fight scenes (which may be the among if not the best hand-to-hand-to-broom-to-coffee maker combat scenes caught in ink) also reach a higher level of activity and smoothness. The plot isn't convuluted; you'll enjoy it a lot more if you watch at least five or six episodes of the series, but the movie is easy enough to follow and self-supporting.
"_____ the Movie" efforts often take on their own lives, and offer nothing toward the originating series, but Heaven's Door is an exception. The tale perhaps provides some insight into Spike's invulnerability and willingness to enter death or death situations; gives some more color to the "Julia" storyline; and just provides more interaction among the main crew of the Bebop.
Expect many beautifully shot moments to appropriate music, similar to the first Vicious-Spike encounter in the series. Can't go wrong with it, and is at the least, worth your money.

Summary: A stylish, fun movie
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, and found it to be well worth the money (and then some). I think those who haven't seen the series can definitely enjoy the movie/understand it, but I can't honestly say since I've seen all the anime episodes multiple times. Of course, those who do like the movie, and who haven't seen the episodes, can look forward to being able to buy more of a good thing whenever they want (as opposed to having to wait for movie #2, etc). I can't really understand why the movie's been released only in a limited way (it was in theory supposed to be released last year...). It is currently available, legally, on DVD with subtitles, for those who don't live within driving distance of the right theatres.

Summary: Some just don't get it...
Review: {Firstly and foremost I must comment on the review saying that the rock music included in the movie was not supposed to be in the film. Uh, yeah it was...} I own the Japanese DVD and the series, and believe me, this is the best of the whole series. Also, the movie is not a new ending as some may think...It is intended to take place between episodes twenty-two and twenty-three (Cowboy Funk and Brain Scratch). Anywho, for fans of the show this is a must. For fans of anime as a whole this is also a must. For fans of action movies, well, you need to see this movie. The animation is spectacular, and the music is riviting. Another comment concerning the reviewer stating that the music sucked, that is not a reason to give it a two out of five stars (and the music does not suck, mind you). Oh, and if you favor the japanese language track, I am pretty certain that the DVD will include it. So in conclusion, this is one of the greatest animated features ever (and to me this is better than the series).
PS- The fight scenes are some of the best ever. Spike jabs and kicks with style. And for those who like Faye (as a heroine or as eye candy) you will get what you always wanted (fan service or a good subplot). Be sure not to miss out on this one!

Summary: Yoko Kanno's music is intact.
Review: Normally, I wouldn't waste anybody's time by adding yet another "Cowboy Bebop rocks" review. But someone has falsely posted that the American version of the movie has some "terrible rock" instead of Yoko KANNO's excellent music. Let me set the record straight here: the English dub of the movie keeps Yoko KANNO's original music COMPLETELY INTACT. I have also watched the movie in both its forms, the original Japanese version (downloaded) and the American version (in theatres). The thing is, there have been rumors floating around the web for well over a year that Columbia-TriStar was replacing Yoko KANNO's music with some American rock. Many doubted the validity of the rumor, but the rumor persisted. And obviously, the rumor has been completely discredited now, after the movie's American theatrical release. If you heard any rumors about the music being replaced, then you can safely disregard them as false rumors. As for the movie itself, the English dub is excellent (and I generally dislike dubs), and, as if anybody needed to tell you, Cowboy Bebop rocks, and the movie rocks. The only negative thing I can say about the movie is that it is a tad long, weakening the momentum and the pacing of the film. Still, that doesn't keep me from wholeheartedly recommending the movie. Just don't listen to anybody who says that the "American version ruined the music." It is simply not true.

Summary: One of the Greatest Animes ever!
Review: To get started, I am only 15 years old but this movie prooved that even if it is rated R, you can still enjoy it. I saw this movie with my friend in Seattle on the first week it opened. It was a great movie with plenty of action and comedy that you could only get with the Cowboy Bebop gang. Of course, just like the show, there are refrences to drugs and a lot of smoking but hey, I'm sorry to break it too you parents out there, but we go to school. Fact is we probably get more bad influences from that rather than a movie. Also, this movie does contain blood at some points but not too much. There also is one NEAR nude scene but don't worry, nothing shows. Anyways the translation was just like the shows(they even used the same dubbed version voice actors), and they had the same great music. All in all, this is a great Anime to buy and I am looking forward to owning it as soon as it is released.

Summary: Cowboy Bebop, Best Movie ever
Review: just like the title of this letter says, this movie, Cowboy Bebop the movie, is the best movie ever. I have never seen a better anime or manga alike. This serries is so unique that nothing will ever be able to compare to it. The story and plot line is unbeatable and the characters are so real. If youv'e seen the series, you know what i mean. Summary: Not great, but i forgive them.
Review: Cowboy Bebop, in its 26 episode run on television, is one of the best three animations I've ever seen, along with FLCL and maybe something else.... HOWEVER, the film, aside from being a fantastic collection of parts, fails as a whole. Maybe it was the reliance on the success of the show rather than the committed storytelling principles that the show thrived upon-- and maybe that's just another way of saying that the movie comes off as pretentious if you love the show. You will feel like you're being AT LAST clued in to the fleeting "waking life/all a dream" theme that NOODLED YOUR BRAINMEATS in the series... but eventually you will feel completely drowned in a STEAMING VAT OF DREAMY THEME while watching the film. Vincent's character is great, the girl that loves him's character is weak, and the original foursome cast can NEVER FAIL at winning your heart over from the first instant. Problems? Not enough comedy relief, like Ed trying to walk in socks, Jet ruining his bonzai, and Ein smelling things. I like how Spike is horribly irritable corresponding with its chronological spot in the TV series, and i LOVE the opening sequence until it was ruined by Spike Speigal's MONEY SHOT "just your average bounty hunter." DAAAAH DAAH DAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Yoko Kanno is always awesome, songs weren't as good as the series but they were placed better into the film. Buy it. But it's not great.
