Summary: A Treasure for Parents wanting strong role models for girls.
Review: Although I'm not sure a 13 year old girl is ready to conquer today's complicated world, I applaud this film's portrayal of a strong and admirable girl. As a mother of two young girls, I am glad to see a character that takes responsibility seriously and is kind and considerate and capable. My girls love watching Kiki and her black cat which looks like ours. My only complaint is Kiki's fascination with finding a boy. Otherwise, this is a fun and delightful movie. I recommended it highly.

Summary: Keep An Eye Out
Review: Kiki's is a great show. My family and I have all enjoyed it. However keep an eye out while watching this tape for Miyazaki's little incongruitties e.g. the Transistor Radio in the Age of Derigibles (blimps). I encourage everyone to watch this if at the least to see how great stories are done in animation

Summary: Excellent
Review: Though, I don't give this movie 5 stars, Kiki's Delivery Service is entertaining and different. Even those who are young at heart will like this movie.

Summary: the most decent movie ever made
Review: This movie is a classic, and has achieved something few movies do: it's got drama, believability, and brilliant characterizations in the most honest-to-Heaven decent movie ever made. There isn't one too-sweet character or moment in the movie. You will care very much for Kiki, and I wouldn't be surprised if you felt Kiki lives in a better world than we do.

Summary: A heart warming story that can bring tears to your eyes.
Review: I first heard about Kiki's Delivery service in Manga Mania and swore i'd get it when it came out as it sounded so good. Well it's out and i've brought it, and it's even better than i imagined. The artwork is simply amazing and the music and dialog are beautiful. Kiki's delivery service is one of the best films (animated or otherwise) i've ever seen. The story carries you along and some scenes are so beautifully done that they leave you almost in tears. I was recently looking after my cousins and i decided to show them the video. Although neither of them speak Japanese and could not read the subtitles their eyes never left the screen. I'd even swear my baby cousin picked up on some of the words, she kept saying "Kiki" and "Jiji" when ever they were on screen. I throughly recomend this to everyone and i can't wait to get ahold of Miyazaki's other works. Well i'm off (to watch Kiki's Delivery service again ^_^). Buy it!

Summary: A whimsical masterpiece--don't miss this one.
Review: This is truly a unique film. Unlike the countless formulaic and forgettable Hollywood/Disney pictures, this movie stands out both as orignal and captivating. Kiki's Delivery Service is also the rare film which can be enjoyed and appreciated by adults as much as kids. Although the box-art has been 'Disney-fied' to look like your typical kid's cartoon, don't be fooled--Kiki's Delivery Service entertains while maintaining its artistic integrity. This is both my wife's and my favorite Miyazaki movie. Watching it makes one wonder why Hollywood/Disney can never produce anything this good. So that you can get an idea of my tastes, my favorite movies are The Empire Strikes Back, Blade Runner, and Aliens.

Summary: A most remarkable film, landmark in children's animation
Review: I confess that I've been an ardent admirer of Hayao Miyazaki-san's work and his fellows in Studio Ghibli ever since I got into Japanese animation five years ago. His films are of the highest quality both in terms of technicality and subject matter. When critics call him "the Disney of Japan," I think it does him shameful injustice. "Kiki's Delivery Service" is an excellent movie and as one reviewer noted, it is truly rare to find a film where there are no "villains" except that of the daily failings common to everyday life. Disney would do the world some good if it plans to market the rest of Miyazaki's films as it does for its own films. I strongly recommend all of Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's films to all children and their parents over any and all animation I have seen (including Disney).

Summary: Kiki is a wonderful example of great animation
Review: I first saw Kiki in Japanese several years ago. When I heard that Disney/Buena Vista Home Video would be releasing this masterpiece by director Hayao Miyazaki, I eagerly counted the days.

I now have both versions of this video -- the English dub version with Dunst and Hartman as well as the Widescreen Edition/Subtitled Edition. The dub demonstrates the great job the late Phil Hartman did with voicing Jiji, but the sub contains the beautifully composed original music by Joe Hisaishi (who also did the music for other Miyazaki productions).

This film is a must-see, especially for anybody interested in animation that does not follow the Broadway-musical-like format that Hollywood studios have overused. For starting fans of anime (Japanese animation), I use this gem as a perfect counter-example to the (incorrect) notion that anime is nothing more than giant robots, transforming spaceships, or girls in sailor suits.

Summary: FIVE STARS IS NOT ENOUGH FOR THIS MASTERPIECE -- TAKE TWO!
Review: A few months ago I put in a customer review for the English dubbed version of this film, where I gave it my highest praise. This time, I got to see the subtitled version, and all I can say is -- WOW! Seeing this film in the original Japanese (dialogue, vocal tracks, etc.) is a new experience over the dubbed version; plus, it's widescreen (major !)! This is a video that should not be missed under any circumstances!

I am still a major fan of the dubbed version; I think both versions are fantastic (I've taken to flipping a coin to decide which one to watch). What do I recommend? Check both out, and decide for yourself!

P.S. To Miyazaki-sensei: Arigato, and Thank You.
