Review: One of the greatest masterpieces I've ever seen on DVD. This story of a ten-year-old girl trapped in the world of spirits had enchanted my soul. I'm only eleven, but I see more in the future already. My greatest ambition now is to be someone as great as the honorable Hayao Miyazaki!
Haku was one of my favorite characters. He was designed and drawn beautifully in an unforgetable style. His courage, friendship and loyalty to Chihiro is simply astounding.
But there were a few bits I quite not fully grasped. About Haku; is he a dragon transformed into the human form of a boy or the opposite? And what about rescuing Chihiro when she fell into his river years ago? How did he do it? Again, was it in a human form or in a dragon form? And did Chihiro's parents know about that? Did they think that a dragon had saved their daughter? And why did they drain the river and build things on top? And after his river was drained, Haku had turned up one day in the spirit world just like Chihiro. In what form? Did he already have magical powers before even becoming Yubaba's apprentice?
...Again, big comment. SPIRITED AWAY is a must-see film. Go ahead and order!

The animation promises to wow you and take you from your couch into the colourful exciting world of chihiro entered.
The storyline captures your imagination as well as provokes thought.

Review: The filn starts slowly... typically the father and mother are annoying from the first scene and remain that way. Dont let this stop you. Chihiro is a guiding light and keeps you stuck to the screen no matter how utterly sweet and innocent the animated character might be.
Set in a world that only japanese anime could provide, the movie engulfs your imagination. Its one of the first family style animated movies ive watched and it left me dumfounded with its timely heart felt approach and its sincerity. Never once did i think that chihiro thought twice about the trust she gave people. its not manufactured which is a very rare sight these days and one you expect least from an animated feature.
All i can say is watch this movie for yourself. it will touch you, if it doesnt then you are beyond help and fair game for anyone to take a swing at. it is worth the time.

Summary: Chihiro, Haku and The Spirit World
Review: When I first put in Spirited Away (my first taste of Miyazaki) I wasn't sure what to expect. I have been a great lover of anime since the age of 8 when I first viewed Dragon Ball Z, but I had never really seen an anime movie before. So I rented the DVD because I was bored and put it into my player. I was blown away by the beautiful animation. The roses, for example, weren't drawn in a clump like usual anime roses, but you could see individual petals. Chihiro (the heroine of our story) acted just like usual adolescents act in the beginning. When her parents got lost on the way to their new home, they stumbled upon a plaster building that led into "the strange town". Chihiro, behaving most childishly, whined "I don't wanna go in there, it gives me the creeps!" but went anyway for fear of the moss-covered statue outside the building. After going up into the town, Chihiro's parents found a large quantity of food and gorged themselves on it while Chihiro explored. A strange boy (Haku) told her to leave, but, being a kid, she didn't really listen until it was too late. With her parents as pigs (literally) and water between her and the human world, she had nowhere to go. Haku took her across the bridge to the Bathhouse for the Spirits, and there she got a job cleaning and bathing Spirit customers. This is the BEST MOVIE I have ever seen. I recommend watching it in Japanese, as Daveigh Chase sounds much more whiny and the lines are infinately better in Japanese (except for one small song sung by the foreman). BUY THIS DVD!

Summary: Best Hand-Drawn Movie Ever
Review: Forget about the Lion King. Don't even think about Beauty and the Beast. Spirited Away proves that anime is the best thing that's ever happaned to hand-drawn animation, and that Hayao Miyazaki is the best thing that's ever happened to anime. Wow...that is pretty much what all of the critics could say. It was on 99 critic's top ten lists, and that number has reached 100, although, I'm not officially a movie critic. But still, it is a classic film and the best one next to Finding Nemo, which raised the bar for CGI films.The synopsis is as follows: A young girl Jijiro is moving to a new town and her parents lead the car in the wrong direction. When they get out of the car to explore, they find what looks like an abandoned theme park. They find an alley way filled with food andt he parents begin to eat excessively. When Jijiro refuses and decides to explore instead, she later finds them as pigs. This leads her to find a job in the local "bathhouse for the spirits." The characters are lovable and all help Jijiro learn life lessons while she seeks help to turn her parents back into humans. Now, when you're watching the movie, it is not as hokie as it sounds in a review. There are many metaphorical characters and events that add to the wonder of the film. It is shocking how such beauty and meaning can be acheived by a team of animators. This movie did win for Best Animated Film in 2002 and I believe it should have been nominated for Best Picture in place of The Lord of the Rings, which had no chance of winning and was not as incredible as the first film. People need to look at animated films such as this as movies, not cartoons for children. Bottom Line: A splendid and superbly made film that rightfully earned its title as the Best Hand-Drawn Movie ever made. (I gave it an A and it is number 9 on my Top Ten Favorite Movies List).

Review: the 451 amazonians already covered pretty much every aspect of the film.and most of them gave it a five star.so what are you waiting for? buy it.
my second miyazaki film ,after (mononoke).actually the third after discovering (warriors of the wind) was also a miyazaki's.saw it way back in the mid 90's.wasn't that great.a miyazaki fan site said the reason was because of the unapproved editing by the company that did the dubbing.for more info go to studio ghibli site.
my mother liked.my father liked it ,and said it reminded him of his childhood bed time stories.they don't speak english. and i ,definitely ,liked too.
the story.well,do you remember ,when you were a child ,that you really believed strange creatures lived in deserted houses,well this film is all about that .in a japanese flavour of course.
there are some scary moments! do you remember the first scene the monkey tribe in (mononoke) appeared?spooky.in this film it's doubled.especially noface.parents be warned

Review: Don't get me wrong, I love Miyazaki. MONONOKE HIME is one of my favorites, and MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO is an infectiously magical romp that makes you feel like a wide eyed five year old. The ingredients are all in this one: fantastic creatures, a believable heroine, moments (particularly on the train) of pure magic, and Joe Hisaishi's excellent-as-always score. It's just that the never ending army of supernatural beings gets tiresome after a while. Definitely worth seeing, but not as good as everyone says, and certainly no MONONOKE.

Summary: So beautiful
Review: This is a seamless, endearing story of the human element against adversity. A fancy wordy of saying soooo......goooodd... The dubbed version is good, but for the american girl who did Chihiro's voice....GAH! Dying crows in heat sound better during the beautiful dramatic music....So poorly chosen. She made Chihiro sound whiny, young, and like a mosquito trapped in a jar. Please, by all means watch this, but even if it's irritating, watch the origional japanese with subtitles. You'll treasure it so much more.

Summary: Did I miss something?
Review: My friend and I just watched Spirted Away last night, and I have to say, I don't see what all the fuss is about. The artwork is beautiful, but the story was frustrating and non-sensical. We are both fans of artsy films, but we continuously found ourselves laughing at this movie, and not in an intentionally funny way. Our most common comments were, "This makes no sense," "This must be for people who like to ACT like they are intellectual," or, "Oh my god this is hoakey." I cannot think of a better example of something being over-hyped. We also found ourselves wondering if Japanese people have a lot of self hatred, seeing that none of the characters in the film (or japanimation in general) looked even remotely Asian.

Summary: Super Cool!
Review: Spirited Away is my favorite movie! It is rated PG, but only for Scary parts. What really makes me mad is that people let there kids see the movie and blamed it on the movie that there kids where scared. Well,DUH!!! If your kids are young,then don't let them watch it! It is rated PG for a reason! I'm sure you will enjoy the movie if you see it. Everyone else I knew did. Somebody said when they saw it in the theatre,the audiense stood up and applauded... Yah it is sorta weird, but not weird enogh to make it bad.When me and my cousins saw it ...we where all speechless when it ended. We just gaped at the tv. That is how good it is. So watch spirited away. You'lll love it. I just know you will.
