Summary: No good Anime fans
Review: No humor... no fun... no cool villans... the music stank. The charecters are stupid... the idea is stupid... the graphics are cheesey... I just like the explosions. Not worth your wasted money.

Review: another one of my favorite animes other than ninja scroll. i've seen the series on Fox Kids and was amazed that such a show could be shown on Fox Kids. fortunately fox canceled it on oct. 21. i was dissappointed so i decided to buy escaflowne vol.1 uncut. boy is it great. i'll tell you the uncut version is so much better than the fox kids version.

Summary: Escaflowne For Eternity
Review: Definately a best buy! This series is the best anime series I've ever seen. The plot moves at a comfortable pace, and the ending really makes you think. Of course the ending isn't on this DVD, so buy that one when it comes out! :) But about this volume: The first episodes of Escaflowne are some of the best, because they introduce you to the wonderfully done world of Gaea, "where the Earth and the Moon appear in the sky together." At any rate, it has enough action, romance, and great music to satisify any movie lover.

Summary: Outstanding anime series, a must see!
Review: A wonderful mix of fantasy and mecha anime, this series has it all. The version shown on FOX Kids does NOT do this series justice, and you might come away from it indifferent to this series. Trust me, when you see the original, uncut version, you will change your mind immediately. With powerful music by Yoko Kanno (of Cowboy Bebop and Macross Plus fame), and great animation, especially during the battle scenes, you'll want to see the rest of the series immediately after this DVD is over.

As with most anime series ported to DVD, this first disc is primarily concerned with getting character introductions out of the way. You meet the main characters of Van, Hitomi, and Allen, and you see some awesome battle scenes involving a dragon, and Van and Allen's mechanized armor suits (called melefs or guymelefs), Escaflowne and Scherezade (respectively). But unlike most mech anime series, the battles in this series are primarily swordfights, rather than gun battles, which is a refreshing change. You are immersed in a world of fantasy, the world of Gaea, that lies close to the planet Earth, although hidden from view.

The special features on this disc are great, too. You get to see the non-credit intro, which has awesome music, as well as some music videos with other great tunes from the series, and also featuring some of the great scenes as well. The menu system is easy to navigate, and is pretty to boot.

All in all, this disc is very deserving of the 5 stars I gave it. Set aside some money to get involved in this series; you won't regret it for a second.

Summary: Well Done Animation For Discerning Tastes
Review: This Escaflowne DVD is the actual Japanese version and not to be confused with the edited North American Fox Kids release. The viewer has the choice of hearing the dialogue in original Japanese with English subtitles or in dubbed English. The animation is quite breathtaking and the background art is worthy of the best of Disney, putting the story and characters of Escaflowne in a large, three-dimensional world of wonderful detail and beauty. Be aware that this unedited version does have scenes of violence and blood and there is some mature language in the English subtitles. Also, though this DVD will play in all standard DVD players, it may not function in your PC's DVD ROM drive because of the graphics-heavy opening menu.

Summary: My Favorite Anime Series
Review: Prior to seeing this series, I was not much of an anime fan. I had watched a few shows with one of my friends but nothing that I felt was truly breathtaking. Then I got a glimpse of Escaflowne on FOX. Even as cut up as it is supposed to be, I still noticed the wonderfully complex plot. There is no one thing about Escaflowne that fascinated me; every aspect was equally great. The animation is great for a TV series and the music is among the best I've heard. This DVD is definately worth buying and watching 10, 20, or 862 times.

Summary: The best anime series I've ever seen.
Review: Now, I'm not much at writing reviews, but I felt Escaflowne deserved one. I've been an anime fan for over 10 years and have seen them all, but Escaflowne by far is the best series I've EVER seen, from all aspects.

This is the type of series that needs to be watched multiple times to get the full effect of how brilliant the character development, storyline and plot development all intertwine. As an example, something minor someone says or does in one episode can affect someone four episodes later. Minor characters you may see for one episode have a big impact on how the story is played out. Just brilliant! Not only the story, but the music, the animation, everything!!

And if you can't wait for the rest of the series to come out on DVD, pick up the Japanese/English sub box set. DON'T BUY the awfully dubbed/edited box set that Fox is putting out. It does NO justice to the original. Important plot and storyline elements are cut and ruin the entire thing.

Summary: An engaging alternate world
Review: Escaflowne begins, as so many anime do, with a girl drawn into another world which is beset by war and chaos. Here, Hitomi is a girl on a track team who has visions of the future and is drawn into the world of Gaea with Van, prince of Fanel, who somehow reached our world while battling a dragon. Van, by defeating the dragon, earns the right to be king and be bonded with a magical suit of giant armor (essentially, the magical equivalent of the gundams in Gundam Wing) called Escaflowne. War soon reaches Fanel, and the story proceeds with massive battles between the robots, political intrigue, and the mysteries of Gaea being slowly peeled away.

This series hits the ground running and has everything you could ask for. The designs of the giant robots are wonderful. The score is a fabulous mix of classical music and something like a Gregorian chant. The animation is rather fluid for a television series. The character designs are unusual, especially for their long, pointy noses. One interesting feature is that Hitomi is obviously not meant to be the usual beautiful heroine with whom all the men are madly falling in love. Finally, the English dub is fine; the voices are done by the same studio which voiced the Gundam Wing dub. For the curious, this DVD contains the uncut version, unlike the very-edited version which ran briefly on Fox Kids. Those edits were for length and to simplify the plot; there is no nudity or anything similarly objectionable here.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: This movie is one of the best anime features I have seen. It has a wonderful storyline and is full of action. I would recommend this movie to a wide variety of people. If you have a problem with launguage, you might want to skip this movie. Otherwise, great show!
