Review: i love and like this movie really much but i don't have the movie i just watch it in the t.v. to bad they don't show this movie anymore. but i'm planning to buy the dvd because in my three years i always wanted this and i hpoe i get it soon because outlaw star is like the boom!

Summary: One of many great anime
Review: Im 13 years old and I love this anime.Why, not because of the action,but but because of its mystery,drama, and deph.Most of my friends loved the action,but they really never understood the concept of this anime.They just kept talking about it.It got me and other people annoyed by it.It made anime sound geeky and people started sterotyping the show and other anime.The show can get confusing at times but starts to come together like a big puzzle.Like the other anime on catoonnetwork people got only half of what the anime could of been because they wanted to make the show for kids.This show isn't always seriouse.It has a lot of funny moments in it.If you liked this I reccomend buying Trigun.

Summary: Wild West Y2K style!
Review: One of my favorite animes of all time, "Outlaw Star" is A LOT like those old Western films (example: Clint Eastwood) but with a little bit of sci-fi fantasy mixed in. The same creators who've made "Gundam WING" return to give us a new anime series that doesn't make itself look too serious or too funny, but still a fun thrill ride with action & a GREAT love story. Gene Starwind is a man who, since his childhood, dreams of going up into space someday. Starwind has an 11 year old partner, Jim Hawking who helps him run a business of theirs called, 'Starwind & Hawking'. But one day, something goes wrong, when they meet a client that's more than what she appears to be. Enter Hilda (a.k.a. "Hot Ice") a renegade space outlaw running from both the pirates and the Galactic Space Forces who're out for a very special ship, the X-GP. A weapon so powerful that no other would stand a chance! By twist of fate, Gene & Jim are forced to go along for the ride and wind up owning the ship, and then things really get crazy for our heroes! Gene names the ship (the shows title name obviously), which also comes with a beautiful female android, Melfina who happens to be it's navigator. Along the way they meet a few other batch of friends, including a beautiful assassin, Suzuka, and the annoying alien, Aisha ClanClan. Together, they battle the evil KAY/BON pirates who are out to capture them all, and a mysterious old scientist who just won't get off their back! It's a dirty job, but Gene appears to up to anything that comes his way. Too bad his fear of space had to be his weakness. OVERALL: 10/10!!! This is indeed worthy to be called a classic! Animation quality looks a little dated compared to that of "Cowboy Bebop", but it's still good fun for the average anime/sci-fi lover! The artwork displayed at the endings is some of the most beautiful I've seen from the Japanese culture and the soundtrack itself is outstanding. All eps are here in this wonderful 6-disk package, so what are ya waiting for?! GET A COPY NOW!!!

Summary: Not the best series ever, but a fun ride
Review: Gene Starwind and Jim Hawking run a semi-profitable (and highly shady) business, "Starwind and Hawking Enterprises". They will do anything... as long as the price is right. One of their business ventures places Gene as bodyguard for a very mysterious woman. The job was going as planned until a small run-in with a pirate group. Everything just seems to go downhill from there... Highs:

Sometimes goes off-track; inconsistent animation; some undeveloped characters When I first saw a cover of an Outlaw Star video back in the day of two-episodes-per-video-subbed-OR-dubbed (all you newbie anime fans are spoiled with your newfangled DVDs), I saw a badly drawn guy holding a gun and immediately dismissed it as a "guy with big guns" anime. I had no interest in such things, so I passed it up and spent my precious money on something much more worthwhile: "silly martial arts" anime! (Read: Ranma 1/2) Well, a year or so later, Outlaw Star was going to be shown on Cartoon Network. I was still a bit skeptical, but I had nothing better to do so I decided to watch it...and immediately fell in love. Well, maybe "in love" is a bit extreme a word. But I did like it enough to buy the whole series on DVD. The first thing about this series one may notice is the animation quality. It's good for a 1998 TV series. The character designs are original and attractive, everything moves fluidly, and the colors are bright and clean...for a while. Midway through the series, the animation quality immediately becomes very inconsistent. The style changes from episode to episode, ranging from the quality that the series started with to mediocre. Also, the space battles are some of the more interesting out there. Grappler combat is far more visually exciting than the stationary ships shooting at each other with lasers that can be seen in, say, Tenchi Muyo. Secondly, the plot is multilayered and interesting. In fact, it has many plots within one. The most obvious are the search for Melfina's origin and the search for the Galactic Leyline, but there are other, more subtle plot strings that I'll allow you to discover for yourself. While most episodes have something to do with the plot, there are a few occasions where it seems to go off-track, becoming more about the search for money than anything else. Nevertheless, there is a good balance between action, drama, romance, and comedy. The third and possibly most important aspect of the show is the characters. Fortunately, Outlaw Star excels in that area as well. Gene Starwind, the protagonist, is at first your classic badass womanizer/bounty hunter with a tragic past, but he is as well-rounded as any character by the end of the series. Jim Hawkings, too, is at first a stereotypical precocious child-genius sidekick. He's the more responsible of the two and tries (often unsuccessfully) to keep Gene on task. There's also Melfina, the sweet and mysterious bio-android whose past they are searching for. Unfortunately, some of the characters are not developed as well as they could have been, and the pirates are never anything more than evil for the sake of being evil. More interesting than some of the main characters are the background characters: Fred Luo, the young, flaming queen of a merchant who is in love with Gene and is always providing the crew of the Outlaw Star with money and supplies (and driving them deeper and deeper into debt). One of my favorites is Harry MacDougall, one of the villains. He is completely obsessed with Melfina and is the picture of a potentially abusive boyfriend. On multiple occasions he tries to kidnap her, starting with kind words, then getting frustrated and hitting her with the bouquet he brought for her. And we can't forget Gilliam, the Outlaw Star's computer, who has just as much personality as any of the more biological characters. Topping off the series is a strong dub. It is directed by Wendee Lee (who plays Suzuka, the samurai-assassin) and is definitely one of her better jobs. Robert Wicks is perfect as Gene, Brianne Siddall (credited as Ian Hawk) sounds astoundingly like Michelle Ruff, and nearly everyone else gives a standout performance. Outlaw Star may not be anything particularly groundbreaking or deep, but it is one thing: a whole lot of fun!

Review: I have read a few of the posts about this show shorly after i baught it and I realized that the only people that rated it badly or made supid comments were 12 year olds who watched and sadly liked Gundam Wing(shame), This show is great and is a good deal considering anime is expencive to who ever said the price was too high, Cartoon Network chops its anime until its almost unwatchable, this show is very good, some of the charactors like Gene are very predicable and well get old at times but the rest of the show, i have to say my fav. charactor is Suzuka...

Summary: Superb, each and everyway!
Review: "The" Anime Series which almost stands above all is no other than the Great, OUTLAW STAR! Lol. But seriously Outlaw Star is 2nd only to Bebop, and if you like Bebop, then you'll love this. Oultaw Star is more lighthearted than Bebop, but the funnest Anime Seires you'll ever see! And I heard that a Season 2 was coming out, but these People are probably screwing around. Outlaw Star -- I just have one word for it; "Phenominal." And it is Phenominal to it's fullest extent. Even though this Series is more lighthearted than Bebop, it has more Nudity than Bebop, and somewhat more Profanity, which makes Outlaw Star not for those under 15, and I'll tell you why right now. Rated 15+ for: Blood, Violence, Nudity, Sexual Situations, and Profanity to it's fullest -- I think Outlaw Star say's every cuss word, except Godd**m and F**k. But it is still, oh, so, excellent, no flaws whatsoever.

Summary: Great Series, in a Good Boxed Set
Review: Outlaw Star is a great anime series. Somehow, I don't think that Cartoon Network did it justice. Anyway, this is one of my favorite anime series. The characters are all well-portrayed. It's not an exceptionally deep anime, but it does have plenty of action and comedy. Overall, I think it's a great addition to any anime-fan's collection.

Summary: Why isn't this show more popular?
Review: This series has a little of everything. Among the crew of the Outlaw Star are a handsome but occasionally dorky hero; his teenage-genius sidekick; a cute but painfully shy android girl; a tradition-loving female ronin; the ship's cantankerous computer, with the personality of a depressive who's resigned to his fate; and a predictably spazzy catgirl. This should give you some idea of how well it sticks to all the clichés of 90s-era sci-fi anime. And yet it transcends those clichés at the same time. There are those who say this series does everything and does nothing very well, but personally I'm inclined to disagree. Maybe it doesn't go anywhere that other series haven't already been, but boy, does it have a damn good time getting there. It's wildly funny at times, more than worthy in the action department, and there are quite a few mysteries along the way that make the whole series worth watching. The animation quality of the show is consistently high, but then again it seems the standards have increased in Japan. Much like the art of Trigun or Cowboy Bebop, the show's visual style is breathtaking and entertaining in its own way. The quality of the sound is also admirable; the DVDs have no noticeable glitches whatsoever, in sound OR video. And I haven't watched it with the dubbed dialogue much, but from what I've heard so far the dub's not as embarrassing as one might think. This show doesn't necessarily cover any new ground, but damn it, you've got to give them credit for trying. All in all, a very entertaining series.
