Review: You're probably wondering just how much of an action this is, or just how funny it really is. Well, let me just start off by saying, don't let the McFarlane Toys action figure fool you. When I saw that toy, I thought Trigun would be a really brutal guns & bullets anime with a hip sci fi theme. In actuallity, after investigating the anime and then buying & watching it myself, it turned out Trigun is a western. Now, in this western we have a fair amount of action, with some very cool weapons. It's not terribly bloody, just violent at times. Also, there is a good deal of comedy thrown in, in the same way "Lethal Weapon" does. The difference between Vash the Stampede and Mel Gibson is that Vash is a lot goofier. I enjoyed this anime very much and look forward to seeing the other volumes. The animation is very nice, the characters are personable, and it is a lot of fun. It wasn't as humorous as I expected, but I wasn't disappointed, either. It's not "Dragon Half" or "Wicked City"....there is comedy and there is violence, but it doesn't lean one way or the other. Keep that in mind, as people seem to be fooled by the cover. Anyway, it is an enjoyable anime and I recommend it. The DVD edition is great, too. It has perfect dubbed and subtitled versions (the subtitled version is the best, of course), as well as some nice bonus features, including character sketches. Be sure to check Trigun out!

Summary: Vash the Stampede Has Arrived!
Review: I usually don't like comedic animes or westerns but for some reason Trigun gets it right. We are introduced to Vash the Stampede, an extremely dorky and surprisingly cute outlaw with a 60 billion double dollar bounty on his head for destroying the city of July. Two insurance girls, Meryl Styfe and Milly Thompson, are ordered to find Vash the Stampede and put him under 24 hour survellience. But what they find is a huge dork in a red trenchcoat, that loves donuts and tries to hit on every pretty girl he sees. That couldn't be Vash the Stampede, could it? The series does get more serious in future episodes but we still get a good laugh out of Vash. This series has great characters, a great storyline, great music, and even great english dubbing. The voice actor for Vash fits the character perfectly. Love and Peace everyone!

Summary: Absolutely amazing
Review: This is definitely one of the greatest anime of all time. It has everything: laughter, joy and infinite sadness, coupled with one of the greatest soundracks ever. No US cartoon you have seen can ever measure up to this, and this is one of the best rated TV series in Japan (based on the manga of the same name). It's all about Love and Peace in the new and extremely violent world that humans created... I guess we'll never learn. The Main Character is Vash The Stampede (aka Humanoid Typhoon), he's wanted with a whopping $$60,000,000,000 reward (that's double dollars, folks) - he is also a clown and a saint. His friends: Meryl, Milly, Nicolas, Lina and pretty much everyone he meets (even some villanous guys and gals), are attracted by his charms and support him all the way. But don't judge this series by just the first dvd, watch the entire thing - it does get serious, with a great story and quite a few plot twists. In my opinion, this is a lot better than Cowboy Bebop (which is still worth watching), so if you liked that, you'll love this. And remember, we all need LOVE and PEACE!

Summary: Catch this Typhoon!
Review: Vash the Stampede (aka The Human Typhoon) has got to be one of my favorite anime characters of all time. I picked this up from my local rental store expecting some typical anime ultra-violence. I was pleasantly surprised that it was exactly the opposite. Trigun is hilarious. Vash is the typical lovable, bumbling hero that turns out to be a villain. (That made absolutely no sense here, but you have to see the DVD to understand!) There are plenty of shoot-em-up scenes to appease all you anime violence buffs, but this is easily one of the few animes you wouldn't mind showing your younger siblings. This anime is very well drawn and one of the few imports I actually think sounds better in English than in its original Japanese. I love everything about this title, and the additional artwork you get in the DVD's extra's section is pretty cool, but more pics would have been nice. I can't wait for the next installment of Vash! I highly recommend this one.

Review: This anime is a classic. The story revolves around an outlaw called Vash the Stampede, an utterly crazy, mindless, idiotic, moronic KLUTZ. He is supposedly a feared murderer with a 60,000,000,000 "double" dollar bounty on his head. Yet hardly anyone can identify him as Vash. A bunch of rumors about a tall guy wearing red go around. Some even say he has a mohawk. Other main characters Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thomson mistake this HUGE guy as Vash. Milly is the only one who thinks Vash is the real Vash, because that is what she always calls him. Music-The opening song is just plain cool. The ending song is great, just not the singer. He seems kind of smeary with it. The opening songe makes up for it. Animation-The animation is great. The battle scenes are nicely detailed and movement is beautiful. It seems older than the new anime. I just can't stand new animation. Voices-I just can't stand Vash's voice. He sounds like a kid. It's okay in some scenes. Milly's voice is just AWFUL. She sounds WAY too young. So does Meryl. Dub-Pretty good. It's off in some parts, but it relates to the sub. Adds more to an already great anime. Overally rating-5 out of 5. Voices aren't much to me when I am paying attention to the wonderful animation and dub. I fell proud to give it a five. It's the first one I have ever given a 5 to. It's just the ending song's singer and voices. Everything else makes up for it. This is also full of comedy, as well as action.

Summary: Pleasant suprise.
Review: Trigun follows the misadventures of Vash the Stampede. He's a man dressed all in red, carries a huge gun, & can't stand the sight of blood. Sound like an odd gun slinging hero? Vash seems to survive by dumb luck, but he actually has a great deal of skill and can actually dodge bullets. Sometimes he seems like a pretty cool hero, but then he always does something stupid to make you think less of him. Vash's being trailed by insurance agents who don't know who are assigned to evaluate disasters caused by him. They don't know his true identity, but their lives have been miserable since the day they met him. I got this anime because of other positive reviews I read online. I was really quite pleased to see it was just like I hoped: a light action/comedy (instead of mindless shooting & violence which is what I thought it was judging from the DVD cover & description). Trigun is one of the better animes I've seen in the past year. Pick it up if you get the chance, and I hope you'll be pleasantly surprised too.

Summary: Great anime but defective DVDs
Review: This review is in regard to the newly released (2004) Signature Series edition of the $$60,000,000,000 Man. I had heard a lot of good things about Trigun and I wasn't disappointed with these first four episodes of the series. At least not with the content. Unfortunately the first DVD I ordered had a defect that prevented part of chapter 18 (the second half of the fourth episode) and the following chapters from playing. I duplicated the problem on multiple players. Amazon.com did an awesome job when it came to replacing the DVD. However, the replacement DVD had the exact same problem. I've decided to contact Pioneer Entertainment to determine if this is a known problem. While I was excited about the lower price of these new Signature Series releases compared to the older releases still available, I may have to purchase the older version to get a DVD that plays through to completion. I would definitely recommend the purchase of this title but one might want to consider purchasing the slightly more expensive 2000 release to avoid the problems I'm experiencing.
