Review: This BETTERMAN volume is worse than the previous volume. The animation quality is sloppy and the plot has now become hopelessly muddled. Some dumb characters have been added, and the creators of the series made a few other changes, none of which have improved the show.

The first episode is a bore. It's mostly devoted to flashbacks explaining what has been going on during the previous fourteen episodes. We find out what Chandy was, but with her gone, her origin seems pointless. The show suffers from her abscence, and even more so because she has been replaced by some less likeable characters. To top that off, we still have no clue as to what Algernon may be or what it wants with human beings.

As I said, a few new characters have been added, including an anoyingly grumbly monk who is one of Betterman's own race. The mysterious old man from "Worms" reappears to spout out mystic riddles (as if we don't hear enough from Sakura) and save the cast from certain destruction. As usual, Keita acts like the dip he is, and Hinoki is as gloomy as ever. Shou and Kaede have developed a little more, and have taken a bigger stand as supporting characters. Unfortunatly, the villians they face are a joke, and their diolague is terrible. Whoever crafted the script for this show needs to take a few writing lessons. In addition, the visuals for the opening theme have been changed for the worse.

The extras are similar to the extras on previous volumes. There are only four episodes featured on this DVD. Overall, if you enjoyed the BETTERMAN series enough to watch the previous episodes, you may like this one. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
