Summary: Real war drama, unlike Gundam Wing
Review: I don't usually write reviews of the anime I watch, but I believe this series deserves one. After watching the series, let me say that this blows Gundam Wing out of the water. It is a real drama about front-line troops that have to use Gundams in platoons to achieve victory. The Gundams aren't invincible either; they can't just run into battle and decimate the enemy as the pilots did in GW. This disk introduces the characters and gives us a sneak peek of the coming action with a few jungle conflicts. If you are looking for a gritty war story with realistic characters, this is it. If you are looking for practically invincible robots fighting entire armies, then Gundam Wing might be more for you. All in all, a great series worth viewing. Deserving of five stars.

Summary: It gets up there,
Review: I have seen many Gundam series, Such as Gundam Wing, Gundam 0083, and Mobile Suit Gundam. I never cared to see this series, but trust me, I made a mistake not to. Unlike Gundam Wing, The begining Gundam series had their Gundams as strong as the enemy mobile suits so that it would make the battle more interesting. And it did. The only advantage i can see a Gundam having over a Zaku, is that it has three cameras,(the two eyes, and the thing on its head.) and the Zaku has one( the glowing "eye"). Also I find the characters in the 08th MS Team to be very mero realistic than those of Gundam Wing. You have Shiro, who is very brave ( he fought a Zaku in a ball in episode 1), The stiff Karen Joshua, Terry Sanders jr and his "curse", Michal who is obsessed with writing to B.B., and Eladore, who sometimes is, well, not all there. The animation is close to that of a MSG and GW mix. I find that the mobile suits are also similar to a later version of the RX-78 from MSG, but its name is the RX-79(G). The story line is very good to. Instead of 5 boys running around shooting at anything thats marked OZ, 08th MS Team has plot and stratagy behind it. All in all, the 08th MS team is a very good series, and I highly recommend it to any Gundam fan.

Summary: Oh, what a SERIES!
Review: I know 08th Team is a short OVA series, but greatness can indeed be found in small packages :-) For once, we have a Gundam pilot in Shiro who isn't coldhearted, win at any cost, I don't care about what you or anyone else thinks type--and the gang of misfits he's assigned to makes it all more real. Even the zeon look god, from the classic Zaku looking meaner, more stomp the earht and make everyone scared brute force, to Aina and Norris--probably the only 2 sensible Zeon you'll find. (Her broter is agenius, but watch out later on) MOst Gundam series have focused on those oh so poweful mobile suits like Epyon and Wing Zero, so having Zakus and GMs again is great. Check this out :-)

Summary: Gundam at it's Finest
Review: I remember seeing a clip of Gundam The 08th MS Team at a video store like three years ago and I thought it was Gundam Wing so I borrowed my friend's Gundam Wing and obviously, I was disappointed that it wasn't what I had seen before. I got bored of Gundam Wing and it really wasn't what I was looking for. I forgot about finding the Gundam title that I originally wanted to see until it got released on DVD when I bought it. I just could not stop loving this series. This series has amazing animation, amazing music and opening and ending scenes, amazing story and an amazing cast of characters. If I can say that the small clip that I saw of Gundam 08th MS Team three years ago lured me into this series, you should definitely give it a try. Gundam The 08th MS Team (made in 1995) is a 13-episode OAV series with three episodes on this DVD. The series starts off fast-paced which is good because the series is so short. It puts a foundation of the story while giving the characters depth and feeling while continuing with the story which is great especially because I get annoyed of stories that have nothing to do with the story just to build up characters. Especially with the hot-headed main character Shiro Amada, it makes you wonder what trouble he's going to get himself into next. The extras in this DVD include a Textless Opening and a Special Animation Clip. The Textless Opening is a great extra on any DVD especially because the opening song is very nice and the animation in the opening scene is great. The packaging is really nice too. The cover is of a Gundam on the ground with the enemy mech above it. The insert has the same picture on the cover but on the inside is a real treat. In the series, one of the characters, Michel, writes letters and the insert is in the form of a letter which gives a description of the team that he is in (the 08th MS team). The back is just some other Bandai DVD titles that have already been released. The BEST part about the DVD packaging is that the DVD cover can be reversed! There's different pictures on each side of the DVD cover (even the pictures for the back side). It's a picture of Eledore and Michel running from danger of being fired at. Reversible DVD covers is something I'd like other DVDs to have. Final Note: A great series finally makes it on DVD. You should definitely pick this series up, it will make a great addition to your ever-growing DVD collection.

Summary: Gundam on the Ground
Review: I saw this subtitled. The first episode is action packed and establishes that there are actually human beings fighting each side of a war. That love, trust, and friendship can cross the lines drawn out by the war. Shiro is established as an ace pilot in space, but can he handle ground combat? You will see the gundams in squads with support vehicles. And what is neat is that the battles are not in space but in a Jungle environment. The sonar is an interesting concept..... It's really cool. For the Gundam Fans awesome... For Anime Mech fans.. excellent.. For those looking for an interesting love story with a war back drop... awesome... ..... Gundam UC forever.... UC stands for Universal Century pre-dating wing and X series.. This happens at the later part of the one year war....presumabley while Amoru Ray is fighting the big fight in space...

Summary: MS TEAM (for adults too?)
Review: I started getting into the Gundam Universe in 2003. We have nothing Gundam related running in New Zealand on any of the TV channels, and I have been looking for something a little more mature than my trusted favorite, The Transformers. I took a punt with the Gundam movie box set, and have been entralled ever since. Of all the Region 1 Gundam shows I have so far (which is all of them bar G-Gundam) I would have to rate the 08th MS Team as tops. I'm not a huge fan of anime as such, but love the mecha shows. The depth of this story is a cut above your average run of the mill robot-jock show, and the animation is superb. Some of the English voice dub is patchy at times, but don't let this detract from an otherwise stellar OVA. Thoroughly recommended.

Summary: The 08th MS Team
Review: I've been lucky to have the opportunity to watch all Gundam series, and this is my personal favorite, very human and without the "newtypes" which kinda makes it more "real". It is useless to make any summary nor outline for this series as everyone else already took their shot at these. If you happen to love the human characters this is the best one to start with, and if I may suggest follow it with "Stardust Memory" and "War In The Pocket".

Summary: Proof that Gundam makes your grandma scream for mercy.
Review: If you think Gundam Wing is a good series, then prepare to be blown away. Not only does every episode contain some serious action...but it also looks fantastic. This series was originally released in Japan as an OVA (Original Video Animation) which means it was released straight to video -read as: Higher budget/ better animation. This series is actually a side-story to the main Gundam Universal Century series, kind of like the "elsewhere..." of comic books. Unlike Gundam Wing, the 8th MS Team characters work together and help each other out in times of need, which creates some very likeable heroes. The animation itself is superb -done by Sunrise/Bandai (of Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star fame) and receives a fantastic transfer to DVD. The extra's include both English and Japanese language tracks and some extra footage -with an easy to navigate menu system. While this series is coming to Toonami, I highly recommend this DVD regardless. You'll see and hear a lot of stuff on the DVD that didn't make it past the Cartoon Network sensors -that, and the increased picture quality make this disc a must for Gundam fans. NOTE: Although not stated, this disc is Playstation 2 compatible -Booyah!

Summary: Gundam OVA at its highest quality.
Review: In the early 90's Gundam OVA were relaeased at a much higher quality then the episodic gundam wing. While GW is a good series (I have all the currently released domestiv DVD vols.) These early OVA series were excellent. As far as these OVA seies go this is only second to my all time favorite 0083 Stradust Memories OVA. The quality of this series is excellent. And wait until you grt to the final eposide "Last Resort"..longtime Gundam fands will know exactly who the Flannaghan Agency reprsents. An awsome cash cow for Bandai but also a winner for us fans.

Summary: Gundam for people who dont like Gundam Wing.
Review: Ive seen the first 10 or so episodes of Gundam Wing and well, thought the story was aimed for the younger audiences. This on the other hand seems aimed a bit up the age ladder and has a good action based plot with some cool characters. Its not 5 star material but I wouldnt give 5 stars out lightly. The animation is great and sound fairly well done. (No 5.1 though, even the intro tune is pretty catchy) I listened to the sub not the dub (eek) and it was well acted. Even with only 3 episodes per disc this small series is a worthy addition to my anime collection. Yours to probably.
