Summary: Yuk
Review: If this was uncut and has a subtitle version, it will be worth getting, but it doesn't. Just a poorly dubbed and massively cutted version of a great anime series. Very Disappointing

Summary: Disappointing
Review: If you're into the fighting scenes as I am you will be disappointed with this one. This one had three episodes and the last episode was the only one that contained any fight scenes. The fight scene was when Vegeta and Napa land on the planet Arlias. However, if you're a collector, this must be added to the your collection cos of the story factor.

Summary: Great anime series, bad dub
Review: INTRODUCTION:
The Dragon Ball manga was created by Akira Toriyama, the same person who was previously responsible for the Dr. Slump series, as well as the Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior in America) series of video games. In the latter half of the eighties, Dragon Ball became a Japanese anime. And when the series drew to a close, he created a follow-up series - Dragon Ball Z. This one also became an anime. Nearly six years after its original Japanese release, Dragon Ball Z finally arrived in America. Unfortunately, Toei Animation (the company that created the anime) added in a number of filler episodes, and FUNimation (the owner of the American rights to the series) was forced to make large amounts of edits so that the show would meet American television standards. Though their dub voice actors actually were pretty good, they had a tendency to mistranslate some information and use a good deal of stupid dialogue. This package contains the second batch of episodes of the series. Read on for my review.

EPISODE OPINIONS:
These are decent dubbed episodes. However, the first episode introduces the horrible "next dimension" line. A scene of Bulma firing a gun at Krillin and Roshi to get them to pay attention was cut. Also, Nappa and Vegeta are still the wrong color (Vegeta just looks WRONG with red hair!) Some of the scenes of Gohan detransforming were edited to be less revealing (which is strange since they showed child Goku's butt all the time in the classic series.) Once again, these were good episodes, but they could have been translated A LOT better.

DVD:
This DVD is good because it has better picture quality than a VHS tape, but horrible because it only contains the edited dub, and not an uncut sub like later Dragon Ball Z DVDs. I recently heard word that FUNimation will be redubbing the Saiyan Saga and the former half of the Frieza saga, so don't go out and buy this right away.

OVERALL:
Overall, The Saiyans does a pretty good job continuing the Dragon Ball Z series - but the dub could have been SO muc better. Although Dragon Ball Z is an excellent anime, I don't recommend this. I recommend seeing the series in its uncut, original Japanese glory; this dub doesn't do it justice.

Summary: Important Intro to Gohan and Saiyans
Review: These episodes are the ones in which the viewers fall in love with Gohan, the pint-sized boy with the heart of a lion, who makes Jake Lloyd in "Phantom Menace" look like a whining infant.

We also meet the Saiyans, whose unblinking evil nature are breathtakingly illustrated. These guys make the "Dark Jedi" from "Phantom Menace" look like prissy juvenile delinquents.

Very important intro to the DBZ world - follow this up with "Tree of Might", which should satisfy the fans rabid for more fighting scenes.

Summary: Episodes 5, 6, and 7 are great!
Review: These three episodes may not contain non-stop fighting, but there is still a lot going on in each of them. Still, there is plenty of combat in each episode.

The main theme in each of these episodes revolves around Gohan. In the beginning he is afraid of his own shadow. He encounters a few challenges, and as he overcomes each he becomes more and more bold. Not all of the situations come out in his favor, but even these are necessary for his 'training'.

Overall, I would say Volume 2 is pretty cool.

Summary: The Saiyans
Review: This DVD is not the best of the bunch, but it is still a needed part in the Dragonball Z saga. This video is more of a transition set, which shows the training of Gohan and the evilness of the Saiyans, Nappa and Vegeta. Although good, it is not the best in this series.

Summary: Acceptable, yet slow.
Review: Though there isn't much fighting, this video really does let you get a feel for how evil the saiyans really are. It does a good job at setting the stage for later episodes
