Review: I was absolutly blown away by this anime. Great animation and great story line(s) Add in the second one (eternal darkness) and it is compleatly awsome. I just hope if more where released they will be availible in america!

Review: Nightwalker is not about a vampire destroying his enemies, or dealing with bloodlust. While both subjects are present, they aren't the main theme, but are more a backdrop for the examination of a vampie's character.Shido is a likeable, lecherous vampire, who works as a private investigator. He's the Nightwalker of the title, and fights the "night breed". This sets up the main plot of the story, but not the main theme. The theme is revealed in Shido's flashbacks, actions, and conversations. That said, the 13 and up warning is no joke, and I'm sure many will feel it's too loose of a guideline. My opinion is that any video should be subject to parental supervision anyway. At any rate, this isn't a superficial show, and there are probably better options if you want pure action. But if you are willing to ponder events a little more, then perhaps you'll be interested.

Review: OK, I know that some anime should not be made into a long series, but I beleave that only two dvd's of Night Walker is not enough. Good art, Good dubbing, What happened? I want more. True there is only so much you can do with a vampire who hunts night breeds but I know there has to more. I gave NIght Walker five stars because I found it to be one of the best anime features I have seen.

Summary: Beginner's Luck
Review: Ok, I'm pretty new to the anime scene, but, for a beginner's choice, this one rocks! Shido is a half-vampire who compensates for his need for human blood by hunting nightbreeds, the local evil demon baddies. He's assisted by the supernatural specialist policewoman Yayoi,his spunky secretary Riho, and this bizarre little fairie thing(I'm not clear on her history) Guni. This series really turned me on to japanime stuff and now I'm pretty obsessed. While I've heard the plot may not be all that original, it's very easy to follow(sort of). All the episodes have individual plots and the ongoing one has to do with Shido's sire/former lover Cain, who wants Shido back with him. I really liked the action scenes, even though they got predictable after a while. Shido uses his own blood to make weapons such as whips, swords, and little darty things. It's all great if you like vampires and demons, though, the vampire theme isn't focused on very much, the nightbreeds kinda dominate. I'm confused about Shido's relationships with his aquaintences. With Yayoi, it's either professional or sexual, with Riho, he's either an older brother, a father figure, a boyfriend/crush, or employer. Anyway, I was facinated, but, like I said, this is pretty much the extent of my knowledge as far as vampire anime goes. I recommend it for beginners and anyone who wants to laugh(Guni's got a mouth on her)or see Shido whip the hell outta these nightbreeds. The animation is great and the casting was very well done. Watch this if you ever get a chance, it's incredibly, absolutely fabulous!

Though the ideas and stories of NightWalker are not exactly original, the anime OAV (direct to video) series is rather cute and entertaining. Private eye Shiro's secret is that he's actually a vampire, but one who has taken on the task of defeating the creatures of darkness in a futile quest to redeem the fall that transformed him to a vampire--viewers may find this similar to television's Forever Knight. Created by a powerful vampire bearing the biblically-suggestive name Kain, Shiro also bears a sprinkling of Anne Rice. Shiro's partner, paranormal cop Yayoi, offers her own blood to sustain him as the two must defeat the "night breeds" in a series of six related yet distinct episodes. His "kawai" schoolgirl secretary Riho--though not immediately in on the secret--also finds herself caught up in the struggles between good and evil. The series as a whole bears out a plotline of darkness verses light, with humans subverted by demonic forces to fall from grace and both Shiro and breeds wishing only for a life again in the light. The characters are what really drive the story, though; their interactions through a couple of episodes should draw in most viewers as they come to care about Shiro, Riho, Yayoi, and Shiro's impish, voice of his conscience sidekick Guni. The English voiceovers are passable, but most anime purists will prefer the Japanese with subtitles option. The special features aren't incredibly detailed but do include scripts, an art gallery, character info, and production data. I found that the cliches presented did not detract from the overall stories and came to rather enjoy the series as a whole. If you're looking for something different in vampire anime, give NightWalker a try.

Summary: Strong start to an interesting vampire show
Review: This disc contains the first half of Nightwalker--6 episodes out of 12. Nightwalker is an animated vampire story similar to the American live-action shows Angel or the older Forever Knight. The hero, Shido, is a vampire who has vowed never to harm another human and who fights against the Nightbreeds, demons who take possession of human bodies. Shido runs a detective agency with the aid of a small winged demon, an innocent schoolgirl who has a crush on him, and a policewoman who seems to be just about his only client. This was originally a late night show, which has a few consequences viewers should be aware of: there's a substantial bit of nudity, particularly in the later episodes on this disc--it's not everywhere, but I think the age rating of 13 and up noted on the outside of the disc is too low--together with vampire-oriented sexuality, though this is confined to innuendo but for one or two scenes; the show is gory and bloody (cannibalism and beheadings come to mind); and the animation is not silky-smooth by any means, though it is acceptable in quality. With those cautionary notes out of the way, the show itself is interesting. For all the violence, it is notably introspective and melancholy; a vampire's immortality is more curse than benefit, and the temptations of the Nightbreeds bring only damnation. The story is initially episodic in nature: the policewoman enlists Shido's aid and they confront a Nightbreed. The show hits its stride when a plot arc arrives in the company of Cain, who made Shido into a vampire; eventually, this leads to some significant changes in the main cast. At six episodes, the DVD is a good value and gives you half of the show. Recommended for those who like vampire stories and who don't object to the content noted above.

Review: This is a really awesome anime. There are only two DVDs of it(as far as I know) Midnight detective and eternal darkness. It's a must see it's funny and gory and comptemplative at the same time. It's also something that you can watch more than once and not get bored with. It has more episodes than most DVD animes, six instead of three and it has a DVD rom special. In other words it's really worth your money.

Review: This is the first installment of the "Nightwalker" series. This DVD contain episodes 1-7. Great start for such a cool vampire series. The series follows a vampire named Shido who fights crimes against the "nightbreeds". Shido has also vowed not to take another human life. He has some help along the way, which include:
Yayoi - a beautiful agent who works for the NOS
Riho - a cute teenage girl who works for Shido, but also has a crush on him
and last, but definitely not least, Gumni(may have misspelled it) - a cute, green little demon who, in my opinion, works as a conscience for Shido I don't want to say too much about "Midnight Detective"; I don't want to ruin it for those who haven't seen it. But if you like vampires and anime, you may want to check this out. It's not VHD, but it's still cool!!
