Summary: Hilarious! One of the greatest anime series!
Review: Well, I've seen this in Japanese and I just want to let everyone know this is a MUST HAVE! It's got everything--mecha, romance, comedy... all the great types of anime rolled into one fabulous series! Whatever kind of anime is your favorite, you will probably like Nadesico!

Summary: A 'well-endowed' anime
Review: As the reviewer, Greg from D.C. said, "don't let the serious box art fool you." He is perfectly right.

For starters, just the first episode alone literally had me rolling with laughter, it was so funny. The following episodes, were just as funny. A good comedy this anime is, but it has, surprisingly, a deep story line and really good action.

The setting is this: In the future, our colonies on Mars have been destroyed by a seemingly unknown race of people known only as Jovians. Analysts believe that the Earth is next and Earth's defense... is failing. Tired of the incompetence of Earth's military forces, an independent corporation builds their own spaceship, calls it the Nadesico, and collects their own disarray of crew. Among this crew, we find a general's daughter, a fry cook, an otaku, an anime voice actress, and a strange gal that calls everyone an idiot (in fact, it's pretty much her only dialog).

Our seeming hero of the story is Akito "fry cook-not a pilot" Tenkawa, a survivor of the attack on Mars. The ship's captain, Yurika Misamuru, is the kawaii, well-endowed, grown-up daughter of a general who is ordered to capture the ship and her crew.

In all, I humbly believe that this anime is great for pretty much the whole family. But don't get me wrong here, there are a few scenes. One scene has adult content, but it shows nothing (it's implied) isn't anything to get wound up about. The other scene is downright horrifying. I'm 21 years old and seen my share of movies, but I didn't see this coming and was shocked to say the least. ...that poor little girl with the orange... :~(

I don't want to ruin anymore of this great title, so if you want to know all what I'm talking about, purchase a copy today. While you're at it, you might as well go ahead and pick up Volume 2 as well. This video is so good, you will anyway. ^_^

Summary: A laugh a minute
Review: Take one state-of-the-art battle spaceship. Throw together a crew of a pilot who wants to be a cook, a voice actor, a penny pinching accountant, a high strung anime fan, a genetically engineered 12-year old girl, and a few other loonies, and this is what you get. And make no doubt about it, this show is hilarious.
The action is fast, loud, and even sometimes confusing as no one ever seems to shut up on this show (Except for Ruri, who makes an occasional observation of 'Idiots!'. This is what Star Trek would be like if the replicator would make coffee using Jolt Cola instead of water.
This first tape contains three episodes, and all three are very funny. In later volumes, the action slows a bit, and both the characters and the story grow at a more comfortable pace, albeit amidst some hilarity. But this first tape will definitely whet your appetite for more. I currently have the first eight volumes and hope to be getting the last few pretty soon.

Summary: Wonderfully Daffy
Review: This is one whacked-out ship of fools! The first tape in this 12-tape series wastes no time in moving ahead with it's seemingly trite plot and over-the top humor. The Nadesico is a spaceship that has been built to fight the Jovian lizards, a race of beings from Jupiter bent on destroying earth. The crew features a ditzy captain fresh out of officer training, a cowardly cook who doubles as a pilot, a penny-pinching accountant, a genetically altered 11-year old, two crazed mech pilots (One is an anime addict, the other wants to be a cook), and a host of others.
The series proceeds quickly and loudly through it's initial episodes, which focus on Nadesico's personnel quirks and it's fight to be kept out of military use. Some of the goofier scenes had me laughing out loud! Yeah, most of this has been done before, but this series strikes a great balance between action, comedy, and romance. I highly recommend this series. It will tickle your funny bone and keep you at the edge of your seat at the same time!

Summary: Prepare to be amazed
Review: An amazingly well-crafted mixture of straight up giant robot/alien fighting action and anime-targeting comedy. I bought the dub, which has an excellent group of characters, and the first video even comes with a creditless opening/closing at the very end as an extra. A wonderful series, recommended to all comedy fans. Things only get better from here!
