Summary: TAKE THE JOURNEY!
Review: "Outlaw Star" is in my opinion, a beautiful masterpiece with an excellent storyline and unforgettable characters. The further episodes focus mostly on the bio-android, Melfina, who is still a mystery to herself! Now, the evil Mcdougal BROS. are out to cause trouble for Gene's crew and destroy them in a deadly game of survival! Harry Mcdougal, however, is after Mel for some reason. What could it be? You'll just have to find out!!

Summary: Slightly mediocre compared to Collection 1
Review: Gene and Jim's adventures with the mysterious Melfina, catty Aisha and beautiful Suzuka continue in episodes 10-18 of Outlaw Star as more secrets and plot lines are slowly revealed to us, and more bombshells are dropped as the story starts to come to an end. However, these episodes excuse the countless amount of filler episodes, almost outnumbering episodes that have anything to do with the plot. Outlaw Star Collection 2 contains another set of two DVDs containing 9 episodes like Collection 1 did, in a sleeker, thinner case that takes half the room of the over-sized case that contained the first collection. These 9 episodes from the middle of the series focus on slowly giving us information about the MacDougall brothers and the Galactic Leyline, with several filler episodes in between. Ah, yes, the filler episodes. These fillers nearly make up half of the episodes on this DVD set, with a total of 4 episodes out of the 9 on the set.

The video and sound quality continues to be superb as with the previous DVD set, but the menus are almost identical to the quality-lacking menus in the previous Collection. They're still noisy, flashy and hard to navigate. We can only hope that Bandai creates a better menu for Collection 3 which is due to be out in a few months. The extras on these DVDs still lack anything particularly interesting, and also have basically the same content as the first DVD set: An image gallery and a credit-less theme song. The theme song extra we get on the second set is the ending theme, with one small problem. The video is the video from the second ending theme, while the music is the first ending theme. Maybe Bandai should spend more time checking their DVDs for such small errors before publishing them.

While not as good as Collection 1, Collection 2 is still essential if you plan to watch Outlaw Star in its entirety, and you'll probably buy it for that fact alone, no matter what I say. Even though Collection 2 has quite a few problems, most which Collection 1 also suffered from, it's still worth the very reasonable price tag, which is extremely low if you look at the fact that these episodes would cost more than one hundred dollars on VHS.

Summary: sweet!
Review: I don't care what anyone says about this volume of the Outlaw Star collection...it ROCKS!

This is the FIRST and ONLY anime series to my knowledge that embodies the things that people value in a storyline: ACTION, HUMOR, and a COHERENT PLOT WITH AN ACTUAL ENDING!!! Have you ever noticed how all those other anime series (ranma, gundam wing, trigun, tenchi, etc, etc, etc,) seem cool until you get to the last few episodes? It's because of this stupid consensus amongst japanese writers that says that all their work has to have an "interpretive" ending ("interpretive" meaning "completely screwed up and not easily understood"). Outlaw Star is the first series to buck this tradition, giving the viewer a FULLY developed plot that can be easily summarized! The ending actually COMPLETES this plotline, making for a fulfilling viewing experience!

So if you're new to anime, or even if you've been watching it since the 80's, check this one out...you'll love it!

Summary: Not all outlaws are bad!
Review: In this dvd collection, the crew is finally fully assembled. The story continues, but still not much of the story is revealed. I have a feeling at this pace, the plot is going to be shown in last few episodes of the next dvd collection. In this dvd collection, the crew is finding ways to make money. Most of the episodes are ways for crew to find work and hope to make decent money. Some episodes are stand alone, not much to do with the story. It's still entertaining enough to watch. The dubbing is superb and the best ever seen in anime. You got to be patient to watch this series, because its slow in plot development. Overall, it's a great anime to watch for audiences into action and comedy. Extras are nothing out of the ordinary, textless emding music, gallery, and trailers.

Review: Outlaw Star Collection 2 is just as good as the first collection. This 2nd collection introduces Gwen Khan, who designed the XGP15A-2 (aka "Outlaw Star") Gwen Khan is far and away the most annoying character in the series.
The McDogall Brothers try to kidnap Melfena, but they fail.
