Summary: great
Review: I don't know why people feel compelled to compare this to Gundam Wing since both series have nothing in common, and they both occur in two completely different universes. The only comparisons that can be made, however, should be in regard to the actual Gundams and pilots themselves. The Gundams are mass produced mobile suits piloted by regular soldiers; much different than the seemingly invincible mobile suits piloted by extraordinarily talented teenagers from Gundam Wing (and even Gundam X in some respects). Series like this is what Gundam is all about: action, story, drama, and of course mecha. The human aspect to war is also ever-present, which draws from the emotions and lifestyles of each character. All four volumes of this series are highly recommended.

Summary: Excellent addition to the Gundam series...
Review: I did see the original series of Gundam, which made me think of a good story on a tight budget. I saw Wing which was a long & realistic series (politicaly anywayz) on a very large budget. This 08th team should appeal to a much wider audience. The first thing that make me say "this is cool" was the fact that all the vehicles/robots from the orignal series were here, but execellently redrawn. This will also make you laugh out loud many times. Also much shorter than some of the other series, but there is alot in each episode.

Summary: A Series Not To Be Missed
Review: This is one of the best Gundam series ever.It goes right along with the 0079 One Year War , so if you know Mobile Suit Gundam You know the basic plot. The series itself has great animation, and is completly the opposite of Gundam Wing ,which had very dry animation. Also very different from Gundam Wing (the reason i'm comparing the two is because they were made around the same time)is that 8th MS Team has lots of action with minimal political talk, making sure you get your fix in both catagories.Over all this is an awsome Gundam and Anime series in general with having something for everyone.

Summary: The Demon Overhead
Review: Zenon has a new weapon that will win the war according to the brother of Aina, the girl that Shiro Amanda meets in the first volume. The weapon (i can't spell it) is unlike any weapon ever saw before, and it has very destructive Powers.
Menawhile, Saunders from the 08th Team wishes to resign and get rid of the jinx he has. Shiro denies Saunders to resign. The Team gets to see the demon overhead in the first espiode of the DVD, which is piloted by Aina.
Eledore has a song that will reach #1 in the charts in the second episode, and celebrates by being captured by the Zenon in a nearby town. One of my favorite fight scences is in that espiode.
In the third espisode, the team is stationed at the testing grounds of the new Zenon Weapon. Shiro realizes that Aina is piloting it at the end of the espiode.

Review: This dvd fell slightly short of my excpectations. THe first episdode had little action and the other two plenty. Overal i liked this dvd and think it was worth it.

Summary: War for Two
Review: Shiro, the leader of the 08th MS Team, meets the girl of his dreams. Unluckly, the babe is a member of the Zenon, and Shiro is a member of the Federation....those two groups are at war. The two meet in space after they have a mobile suit battle, and the two soon become friends.
Shiro leads the 08th MS Team into many battles in the jungle.
You hardly see any of the Zenon's. I first saw this on Cartoon Network, and I like the DVD much better.

Summary: A tradition of excellent Gundam sagas continues...
Review: This OAV series is set during the final days of the One Year War. Ensign Shiro Amada is a young space-born Federal officer given his first command, the 08th Mobile Suit Team of the Kojima Battalion, and quickly gets embroiled in fierce battles with Zeon forces in the rainforests of Southeast Asia. While there, they encounter formidable resistance from enemy Zakus, negotiate with wily guerrilla warriors, and discover a secret base that harbors a weapon that could bring down the Earth forces for good. It doesn't help that the first Zeon soldier Shiro meets face-to-face is the lovely, intelligent Ayna Saharin. Can he reconcile his feelings for her and earn the trust of the soldiers of the 08th MS Team? Or will a rusting hulk of metal be his epitaph in this sweltering jungle battleground?

It's kinda hard to review this because there is nothing to bash or make fun of. After viewing the entire Gundam: 08th MS Team series I can easily say it is one of the greatest anime titles I have ever seen. This is saying a lot because have a history of rating anime very harshly. It stays true to the excellence attributed to the name Gundam and even surpasses it. It effectively mimics the idea of having "good people" on both sides of war we saw in 0080, but emphasizes it more since romance is involved. However, all you action junkies out there don't get the wrong idea. This has action scenes that put GW to shame. You see Gundam is really about intelligent fighting then being flashy a la GW. 08th MS Team revisits this theory and puts it to good use. I swear, every episode gets better and better. By the time you reach the climatic Shuddering Mountain episodes you will be blown away. A classic. Do not miss this. I can't think of any conceivable reason why I would rate it any lower than 5 stars (And the catchy end credits theme doesn't hurt either =).

Summary: Everyone will make it back alive!!
Review: Another entry from the expansive Gundam Universe. 08th MS Team is yet another excellent twelve episode story line that draws on many of the themes expressed in the Gundam Universe but always keeps them seeming fresh and invigorating.

I was once told that by and English professor in college ( or at least the university that passed for a college that I went to) that " Plot is irrelevant. It doesn't matter what you write about.". On the contrary!! Plot is everything. And 08th MS Team proves that with the right story everything falls into place.

Ensign Shiro Amada is the commander of the 08th Mobile Suit Team in the One Year war. Face with combat on the front lines Shiro is forced to make difficult choices when the choices aren't always as clear as black and white.

This DVD is a little short on the extras. You have a credit free opening and closing sequences. That's really about it. The picture and the sound however, are crisp and clear as a bell. Bandai made sure they had done a good job on the transfer and it shows. For those who are partial to subtitles they are offered in English. But Bandai's stable of voice actors are among the better crop. The English dialogue doesn't sound strained or labored. Most "purists" will only watch subtitled anime. But on 08th MS Team the English dub excellent.

This is one of those anime series that you can proudly display in you DVD collection. And one that could possibly convert the non-anime fans who don't think that animation can be a medium for serious story telling.

Strip away the giant robots, space ships and fantastic weapons and at its core you have a story about REAL human beings. That's what it's about. and that's why it works.
