Summary: Probably the best Gundam series ever
Review: Well, while Gundam Wing was getting a tiny budget, Sunrise was pulling all they're money into this piece of work. Unlike other series like Gundam 0079 and Gundam Wing, 08th MS Team is more of a ground war infantry battle with some small off-the-wall humor. In "War for Two", Shiro is assigned to Earth, but on his way there, a battle occurs. A Gundam is downed and requires assistance. Shiro decides to go out in the Ball fighter and save the pilot, but gets into a battle with a Zaku. The pilot is a woman. When both they're suits explode, they try to conserve they're air in an abandoned ship. They form a relationship and soon go back to their own forces. In "Gundams in the Junlge", Shiro goes into combat for the first time. While trading fire with some Zaku's at night, Shiro's navigation on his Gundam is knocked out. So later on, Shiro decides to explore the jungle only to stumble upon Kiki skinny dipping in a pond. However, Kiki opens fire once she notices him. When Shiro returns to his Gundam a Zaku is headed straight for him. Shiro takes it out with skill and heads back to base. In "The Time Limit on Thrust", the team must take out a couple of Zakus and three pill boxes guarding a village. However, while Shiro scouts out the route, he is ambushed by civilians. Not to mention Kiki, still mad about Shiro peeking. When Shiro is taken to a village, he explains to them that he is trying to take out Zeon and that his friends are fighting them right now. The boss of the village agrees to let him fight. So Kiki and Shiro head out to take out the Zeon forces and gain new ground. The textless opening was pretty good for an extra and the bonus clip is pretty much a trailer for the show. The one thing I hate about this disc is the sloppy menus. Not much effort looks like it went into it. Pretty standard. Overall, a great disc worth every dollar. It's nice to see a Gundam series on DVD besides Gundam Wing.

Summary: Platoon meets Gundam
Review: This is one of my favorite Gundam sagas...the 08th MS (Mobile Suit) team! Taking place primarily on Earth in the thick of the Jungle to the deepest desert. This is as close anime will come to make you feel what war is like...Tragedy,love,hate,hopelessness,triumph...it's all here! Shiro,Sanders,Karen,Michel and Eledore bring life in the military during wartime to life. From their emotions during the heat of battle,to personal conflicts during R & R. You also get the classic plot twists, alterior motives on the part of both militaries and so much more. Oh yeah...the animation is pretty sweet too. When I sat through the 08th MS team this last weekend, I watched the whole thing from episode 1 to the end. Its gripping and enthralling...you WILL love it even if you're not an anime fan. Much deeper than Gundm Wing will ever be...like I say in the title...think Platoon or Apocalypse Now meets Gundam Wing. With that description, you only scratch the surfce of the 0th team.

Summary: A more down to earth realisic Gundam series..
Review: Well, like others, I was first exposed to GUndam by Gundam Wing eventhough I had heard of the series years before. GW looks nice but it wasn't realistic as far as I was concerned with their "disturbed" pilots and muich too strong Gundams. Gundam the 8th MS team evens out the vulnerabilities and strengths between Gundams and Zakus making the battles much more believable. It also allows you to care for the characters more seeing as they are more vulnerable in their Gundams. Animation-wise the transfer is clear and crisp. But like another poster said, the main menu screen is sparse. There's only four icons representing play movie, chapter select, sound, and extras. Kids might get those confused. Despite that, I'd definitely buy this series as its starting out to be a more believable and interesting Gundam story.

Summary: It gets up there,
Review: I have seen many Gundam series, Such as Gundam Wing, Gundam 0083, and Mobile Suit Gundam. I never cared to see this series, but trust me, I made a mistake not to.

Unlike Gundam Wing, The begining Gundam series had their Gundams as strong as the enemy mobile suits so that it would make the battle more interesting. And it did. The only advantage i can see a Gundam having over a Zaku, is that it has three cameras,(the two eyes, and the thing on its head.) and the Zaku has one( the glowing "eye").

Also I find the characters in the 08th MS Team to be very mero realistic than those of Gundam Wing. You have Shiro, who is very brave ( he fought a Zaku in a ball in episode 1), The stiff Karen Joshua, Terry Sanders jr and his "curse", Michal who is obsessed with writing to B.B., and Eladore, who sometimes is, well, not all there. The animation is close to that of a MSG and GW mix. I find that the mobile suits are also similar to a later version of the RX-78 from MSG, but its name is the RX-79(G). The story line is very good to. Instead of 5 boys running around shooting at anything thats marked OZ, 08th MS Team has plot and stratagy behind it.

All in all, the 08th MS team is a very good series, and I highly recommend it to any Gundam fan.

Summary: A breath of air from the cloud of Gundam Wing
Review: First of all, you probably want to get the first volume, otherwise this one won't make much sence.

Rather than the pretty boys and fancy suits of Gundam Wing, this series is all about the role players, the people who do the behind-the-lines dirty work in a war. It focuses on Ensign federation pilot Shiro Amada, and his Mobile Suit team fighting the Duchy of Zion. The series takes place at the same time as the original gundam series(U.C. 0079 in Gundam-time). But takes place of earth rather than in space.

The animation of this series is rather well done, with drab greys and greens making up most of the palette. It has it's share of the anime trademark "pan-over-still-image" shots, but they are few, and handled nicely.

The characters are well animated, and unlike the characters of Gundam Wing, are very REALISTIC: Gritty, tough-as-nails, but also mortal. Each one adds to the story with his unique personality, the foolhardy but noble Shiro, the gritty Karen Joshua, the grim Terry Sanders, the goofy Aladore Massis, and the introspective Micheal Ninorich.

The mobile suits are well-designed and interesting. They don't have the "invincibility advantage" that the GW models have, which also makes battles against the Zion Zakus more interesting, because the battles are realistic, with neither side having a decided advantage over the other.

Story-wise, the series is fairly well done, for the fact that it concerns the standard troops of a military group, doing things that a realistic military group would do. The plot in involving, though surprising, so I won't spoil any of it for you.

That's it for now. It may not be my fave anime series, but it's up there.

Summary: 8th MS team dvd 2
Review: Taking place in the year Universal Century 0079 (Same time as the original "Mobile Suit Gundam") Mobile Suit Gundam: 8th Mobile Suit Team tells the story of Shiro Armada and his team of Mobile Suit Pilots, for those wondering 8th MS is a great thing to watch if you are just now getting into Gundam. Now most Gundam series tell the story of a 15 year old Dragged into the war and how he and his friends win the war, 8th ms team is the opposite, it actually documents what the "regular" people were like in the time, they use regular robots that do not have the power to take down an entire fleet, and they fight against other regular robots like "Zaku II's". With that said you get to watch the team do various operations, like freeing a town from the control of ZEON, or doing stuff in the desert. One scene I really like is a scene where they are actually preforming maintence on a robot, scenes like this actually imerese the viewer in the feeling that this is what being a soilder is like.
The characters also have human sides, Shiro is trying to prove himself and keep his dysfunctional team intact, Micheal (Spelling) is suffering the woes of a long distance relationship, and there are many other characters with "human" problems, the characters also are not imortal, there are times when their MS get destroyed, and they get injured. There is also a love story, which I find rather interesting, because it has that whole "Two soilders on different sides fall in love." feel.

Would I suguest it? YES! to everyone. 8th ms team really shows what it would be like to be a grunt in the earth federation army, and also has a nice love story in it.

Summary: MS TEAM (for adults too?)
Review: I started getting into the Gundam Universe in 2003. We have nothing Gundam related running in New Zealand on any of the TV channels, and I have been looking for something a little more mature than my trusted favorite, The Transformers. I took a punt with the Gundam movie box set, and have been entralled ever since. Of all the Region 1 Gundam shows I have so far (which is all of them bar G-Gundam) I would have to rate the 08th MS Team as tops. I'm not a huge fan of anime as such, but love the mecha shows. The depth of this story is a cut above your average run of the mill robot-jock show, and the animation is superb. Some of the English voice dub is patchy at times, but don't let this detract from an otherwise stellar OVA. Thoroughly recommended.

Summary: Know the plot??? Here is the Tech side of this DVD!!!
Review: Now I Know what all you are thinking. Who cares 'bout the plot? Well I will tell you about the technilogical side of "MobileSuit Gundam:The 08th MS Team Vol.2"(I'll call it"MS08v2".

When you first load the cd on your player it will show some of the companies that made it then go to the main menu. When you'r at the menu it will play the clip from the first episode on the disk showing the Apsulus firing at the 08th Team. It also has four icons on the bottom.

1) a movie camera that plays all three episodes.
2) a magnefied glass that is the scene access. Inside that there are five scenes you can play which says "opening, partA, part B, closing and preview". You can also chose witch episode to do that on.
3) a sound icon witch allows you to chose English Dubbed Version, or the original Japanese audio. (NOTE:the music in the dubbed is the same as in the Japanese) You can also chose to put the subtitles on or off. (Note:subtitles only say the Japanese script)
4) a clipboard that acceses the Bounus Materials menu. A)Trailers of BigO, PioltCanidate, AngelLinks, and MobileSuitGundam 0079. B) BonusClips that talk about Colinization, How the "One Year War" started, and about the Zeon and Earth federation Mobile Suit development Project. C) MS Encyclopedia that decribes the federation's Gundam, GM, GM sniper, Bustertank, and The HoverTruck. D) DVD Credits.

Overall This series is the best that Gundam, and Anime, has to offer. If you get this DVD I highly (on a scale of one to ten, 30) recommend you buy Volumes 3 and 4, THEY ARE THE BEST. The animation, music, sound effects, plot are all A+ quality! I ordered them on a thursday night and got them the next thursday! Thank you Amazon!!! Once you get those you should look into Gundam 0083! I'm getting that next from ONLY Amazon.com! Peace...

ps. I'm not saying not to get it, but, I heard "Miller's Report" (witch is the movie that summurizes the first half of the MS08 seires) got a very low rating from some reviewers.

Summary: Anime at it's BEST!
Review: This is beautiful. The 08th MS Team is in my opinion the 2nd best series in the gundam saga. The animation and dubbing is great, and it has a really military atmosphere. One little problem: this is not for little kids. My friend told me there was a scene involving brief frontal nudity in the credits, and there is profanity. Recommended age: 13-14(my opinion)

Summary: Finally Good Zeon Characters
Review: OK I would like to proclaim myself an antigonist lover, i allways seem to side with the bad guy, but by the end of the series OOPS THEIR DEAD AND EVERYONE IS GLAD. I loved this series because it shows the zeon in a different light, they are not the evil, maniacal, bloodthirsty tyrants they are in The original and its other sequels. They are human, they care about others, and are just seeking independance, at the cost of the feddies lives and their own. I believe this is the best Gundam of all
