Summary: RESET...if only I could reset my wallet by returning the DVD
Review: Now that I have passed this overhyped kidney stone for the mind I can say with absolute conviction that it was AWFUL! Should I start with the lack of plot which can comfortably fill 12 episodes and $100 of entertainment? Perhaps I should relate the immature and pretentiously dismal philosophy ending with the amazingly incompitant summary: 'If there are no memories of a person then they never existed.' Shall I talk of the disappointing ability of the director and writer to suspend disbelief? Or of the lack of logic inspiring nearly random events in order to create an end for some of the most stagnant characters ever brought to ...life(not the most aptly descriptive word in this case)... within the cathode tube? Boy am I glad I never mentioned the reuse of some rather unstimulating scenes for over 20% of each episode. Gosh, I love watching myriad electrical wires humming in such dynamic ways undreamt of in film. How about that daring misuse of color which pops out characters and backgrounds with disgustingly amaturish pride? If you have some time to SLAUGHTER, check this series out. Be warned, this series will either make you see a new light at the end of the tunnel, or make you smash the TV against the tunnel walls opening a new escape from this miasma of fanboy drivel rife with blindingly pretentious tag words and hollow religious symbolism. Thank god I escaped through my own path of freewill and individual interpretation while the intellectually deceased still stumble toward this dim bulb of expressionism. Unfortunately my money will never come back from this grave.

Summary: Catharsis Doesn't Live Here Anymore
Review: Recently I remarked that I keep imagining alternate outcomes to this series. Too many, in fact, to count. It presents a reality whose boundaries with the web keep degrading until, for those like Lain the separation is completely lost. In Lain's world, history can be erased and rewritten, and identity is a matter of perception. And the vision is deeply disquieting.The underlying structure of Lain's life has eroded. She has no place at school, her parents have left her, and secret agents spying on her confess their love. Against this backdrop Lain persistent questions her own identity - innocent waif or adolescent hoyden. She hopes against hope that she is the true persona. One can read this as a coming of age story. The powerless Lain of the first episodes gradually coming into a power that is nearly impossible to control. In the previous DVD, Lain attempted to kill God, now she must seek for it among a kaleidoscope of visions. Can she stand the answer? Or will the truth wash her away. Serial Experiments Lain presents an interior apocalypse. From the chaotic opening sequences of this DVD to the hollow victory of its conclusion the world changes - not with a bang, but a whimper. The Wired is a place where closure is elusive, and loose ends the rule of the day. Where there is no existence without memory. It is fair to remark that this series gets progressively stranger and stranger. It creates its atmosphere by testing the borders or our own minds. And it doest a pretty remarkable job of carrying it off. The artwork remains capable to producing striking images. Episode 11 'Infornography' is a striking attempt at an e-visualization of the erosion of Lain's well-being. Indeed, the whole series will remain imprinted on the minds of its viewers for some time.

Summary: An amazing conclusion
Review: Serial Experiments Lain doesn't begin or procced as one would frequently expect, it doesn't end that way either. The story behind Lain continues in it's own way, a style of anime that is unique to Lain, and I don't think could ever be replicated. I reccommed this to anyone who wants to free themselves of mindless entertainment, and watch something that you actually have to think about.

Review: Serial Experiments Lain is definitely one of my favorite anime series to watch. It has a very complex storyline and the combination of computer graphics and hand animation looks fantastic on DVD. Lain: Reset is the conclusion of this series (Sob...) and I would like to see more Lain. However, this is one series that you will probably like to see several times because every time I watch Lain again, I see something new I didn't understand before. It's like, you find an answer to a question, yet there are more questions. In conclusion, What is Lain? Watch and see!

Summary: Who is Lain? What is the Wired? An Anime masterpiece!!
Review: Serial experiments lain, without a doubt, is one of the best constructed pieces of anime I've ever seen. From the moment you are first introduced to the main character Lain, to the credits at the end, you are forced to reevaluate your knowledge and opinion of what you've seen. You start with only a few questions questions, but as each one is answered, more spring to mind! However, unlike many anime films that don't wrap themselves up, Lain manages to provide a tidy ending with only a few questions to leave you thinking.
The animation throughout the film is excellent, and when viewed on dvd you get perfect images from start to finish. Each scene is like a painting, with a meaning that is revealed later in the film. The same excelence is applied to the sounds and music provided, which complements the movie. There are moments when the music is loud to match the atmosphere of a club, while in other scenes there is nothing but the ominous hum of electricity. For those who buy the dubbed version, the english is pretty accurate, another rarity for an anime film.
Serial experiments lain is not a fast film, and you may not understand it the first time you see it. If you want a movie that has a clear plot with a definite ending, then you probably won't like this. However, if you enjoy the satisfaction of comprehension that you get after solvig a riddle, or just want a anime movie that involves a bit of thinking, then this is the film for you!

Summary: Is this the end? I hope not
Review: So. In this DVD you will see the final chapter of the series but you will feel the need for more. Are we real because everybody remember us? Or is the memory a greater thing that we think. Lain has tampered with reality unwillingly and must come to terms with her responsability on all that happened while coming to terms with the question she cannot answer. Who am i? I really hope many people see and enjoy this movie so the people on the studios discover that we can see an intelligent anime without giant robots and girls in transparent clothing (not that they are bad, but i was getting tired of always the same formula)

Summary: Definitely Japanese and a good refreshment
Review: This anime is definitely one of the best I've seen so far. Some people do not enjoy this series because of its various elements - namely, extremely japanese elements, which can be disturbing at times to someone fresh out of the western viewpoint - but overall, it's extremely enjoyable. It is definitely a mental workout, and a lot of fun to watch. Buy it if you're interested in viewing another point of view. There are several references to elements in western culture, as well, so you won't be totally in the dark, but this volume really wraps up the series well. It definitely made me want to view the entire series again. Again, buy it if you're interested in another point of view, and you're mentally ready for the violence that's quite abound in it. Also if you're mentally ready for the japanese 'city' culture element. If you're uncomfortable with any of them, I'd suggest renting the series first, or else you might feel as if you've wasted your money (although I'd be perfectlly willing to take them off of your hands if you feel that way ^_~).

Review: This is one of the best I have seen yet (beter than Eva)The writers worked a lot for history scifi fact and ideas to make the world seem complete The animation is startling. the direction is buter than spealburg. the story line is indepth. Get this if you like to think!

Summary: Surreal, compelling, and intelligent!
Review: This is without a doubt the best anime series released in years! I was hooked from the surreal opening images of the first episode to the final haunting scene, thirteen episodes later. The exploration of themes such as identity and duality are handled skillfully and rendered beautifully, Pioneer did a great job on these discs! The closest comparison to it I can make is maybe Ghost in the Shell or the works of David Cronenberg. This is as good as anime gets! Learn it, love it, live it! Close the World. Open the Next.
