Rating: Summary: WOW! Marvelous! Brilliant! Review: A must see for all. Great use of widescreen and fullscreen renderings
Rating: Summary: you fired Review: i loved it. it was better then Auntz. It was funny and more for kids
Rating: Summary: Digital delight! Review: The direct digital transfer to DVD produces the best picture I have ever seen on television, one that actually is better than in the theater, with more color saturation and detail. The full-frame version, too, fills the screen and yet retains the entire image. An extraordinary film.
Rating: Summary: It's anything a kid could want Review: This movie is great. The best part is the bloppers. The best is when hemlich pulls the grass but it doesn't come out of the ground. Did you know I'm GAY
Rating: Summary: Excellent picture, sound, aspect ratio choice, and story Review: The picture and color in both full screen and widescreen are fantastic, and really forces a tough choice on you before beginning the movie - full screen or widescreen? Many scenes actually work better at home on a tube or rear projection TV in the reformatted full screen - there's just better character detail. Then there are a few widescreen shots that have better presentation (crowd scenes, flying scenes). I don't have a widescreen TV, so lack of anamorphic doesn't bother me for now.The 5.1 sound mix is well done, too. The story is more accessible for kids than Antz!, and although it doesn't contain the same magic as Toy Story, it's still a fun movie well worth owning.
Rating: Summary: Definitely a must see movie !!!!!!!!!! Review: This movie is a must see for all ages. The animation is incredible. It is a great family movie.
Rating: Summary: INCREDIBLE crisp DVD transfer! Gorgeous! Review: The DVD viewing was my first viewing of this film. A lot of fun, and what I'd expect from my favorite animators at Pixar (way to go, Mr. Jobs!). Also, though, huge kudos on the DVD picture quality itself. From what I read, this was a direct-to-disc (straight from the computer, not from the film master), so I expected it to be clean, but not this clean. Extra features were great too (e.g., both versions of the outtakes), but I think I would've like the addition of the trailer and maybe some other Disney trailers in the "Recommendations" section. All else I can say is, where's TOY STORY? :)
Rating: Summary: That's not flying; it's falling . . . with style Review: Not as good as Toy Story or Mulan but much better than Hercules and Pocahontas. Technically superb, but it seemed like the filmmakers placed eye candy above solid characterization and plot development. The animation was stunning; A Bug's Life is light years ahead of Toy Story in terms of the richness of the animation, especially the backgrounds and peripheral scenery. But the sheer "humanness" of Buzz and Woody in Toy Story far surpasses the emotional plateaus of A Bug's Life. Spacey was great as Hopper; the scene in Mexico was particularly riveting. And the story was more coherent than Hercules (which is one of Disney's worst in recent memory from a conceptual standpoint). As an interesting sidelight, doesn't it seem strange that everything in Hollywood is being released in pairs these days? Two CG movies about ants (Antz & A Bug's Life), two movies about your college roommate committing suicide (The Curve & Dead Man on Campus), two movies about killer asteroids (Armaggedon and that other one), two movies about the intrusiveness of television (Truman Show, EdTV). So much for originality. Nevertheless, A Bug's Life is one of the best films that came out last year, and is an all but mandatory addition to the film library of anyone with kids between 2 and 10.
Rating: Summary: Masterpiece Review: If there was ever a movie that I would have to give 5 stars to for genuine DVD quality, this would be the one.The video is so clear it almost looks 3 dimensional. This one sets the DVD standards to which all others will be compared.
Rating: Summary: Way Way better than "ANTZ" Review: I don't what to say about "A Bug's Life" except that when I bought it here on Amazon.com, I didn't know what kind of movie to expect. As soon as I got it in the mail, I popped it in my VCR. I soon started laughing way out loud. Geri's Game is good also. Be sure to watch the bloopers at the end of the movie. They are funny. And finally, Yes, Woody Allen is not the lead character in this movie,(Hint: There's a surprise guest from "Toy Story" in the bloopers.)
